I love this place. The food and service are fantastic and the outdoor patio is one of the best in the city.
I am in town with my daughter for a College visit.
We had a special time together!
Fantastic food, ambience and service!
Price but it was worth
The service was not good and food was okay. I felt like they wanted us out of there as soon as possible.
The hostess was rude, she didn't greet us warmly and when we asked to sit outside she said there was no space, we had to point out there was space. The service and waitstaff are incredibly slow, any place where you have to get up to ask for someone to take your order after 10-12 minutes is crazy and then we had to do the same for our check. When I told the manager, the food was great the service was not he did not look up from his computer, stop what he was doing and speak to us he simple said, I understand.
We observed this terrible service with many of the other tables. The food is tasty and well done, a bit overpriced but it is DC.
What a wonderful experience again! Lovely ambiance and the service is amongst the best in the city. Looking forward to coming back again soon.
Server was excellent. Very friendly despite one of our guests being 30 minutes late.
My go-to spot in DC. Ian accommodated a last minute time change to our reso on a very busy night. We brought a crew of 8, and were initially disappointed not to have a table in the dining room. Instead we had comfy couch and chairs in the bar. Turned out perfect. Awesome service by Janell. Can’t wait to go back!
Could not get anyone to serve me
Dinner reso was at 9:30pm. I received a call at 9:26pm confirming I was still coming which was odd because I was on time for my reservation.
The mixed cocktail tasted of artificial mix. Upon requesting a different cocktail with fresh ingredients and it tasted much better. Our entree’s came out while we were in mid dining of our apps, due to the kitchen closing at 10.
We felt very rushed. The entrees had to be reheated by the time we were done with our apps due to the speedy arrival. Our apple tart desert was less than stellar. Luckily the server told us it was not the best representation & she took it off the bill.
Final thoughts...DO NOT dine 30 minutes before closing because you will definitely feel SUPER RUSHED to wolf down your food.
Our really go-to place in DC
stunning decor and on point service and food
Really enjoyed our first visit to Fig & Olive and its inventive menu.
If you are looking for an exceptional dining experience in DC, there are many other options. Fig and Olive is a popular and well-patroned restaurant and bar ... the noise and quality of the food make the experience challenging.
This restaurant is great in theory, not so great in practice. The food is good but for the service we received as one of two tables on the top floor at Saturday brunch it is not worth the price. It took 45 minutes to get an order of 3 crostinis to our table. Pretty good ambiance but I probably won't be returning. If you are looking to eat good food, have a LOT of time on your hands, and willing to pay more than you think the food is worth - go here.
Olive oil and aged balsamic were delicious. We bought a botttle each.
Food was fresh and light. Refreshing.
Limoncello was great.
This was my first time dining here but I will definitely be back. The food was excellent! I had a pasta dish and my friend had the lamb chops, all were extremely tasty and well prepared. We started with a couple of apps and had the cheesecake for dessert. Service was attentive and the entire experience was just lovely.
Service was absolutely AWFUL! My mother and I weren’t even greeted with a hello at the entrance. We were seated at the back despite their being plenty of seats in the nearly empty restaurant. The waiter was so slow to bring everything to the table, not hospitable, and served the two male patrons in front of us with better service. We had to ask for bread, we didn’t have water refilled, we asked for a pricing for one of the oils and he, despite having only two other tables to serve (one of which wasn’t even dining anymore but sitting and chatting), took 30 minutes to provide us with the price. It’s a shame because the food was quite good albeit extremely overpriced for the portions. I will not be returning and I do not recommend this place to anyone.
Vacation in DC with family
We were all first-time guests at Fig & Olive. We found the experience to be amazing. The service was impeccable. From the hostess to the bartender to the server, every contact with a member of the staff was a pleasant one.
The food was incredible. Very morsel was seasoned to perfection. We will return again and again. Thank you for a wonderful night.
Thoroughly enjoyable dinner. Some dishes were delicious, others (squid ink paella for one) didn't win any stars at our table, but others were delicious. So a bit of a hit or miss palate wise. But still an enjoyable place.
So disappointed with the meal, subpar especially for the area and for the price. So many better restaurants in DC for half the price.
This place was so much better before in terms of friendliness and welcoming staff. Our server maybe was having a bad day but made the experience feel uncomfortable and not friendly.
Maybe they are trying to maintain a posh vibe but I’ve dined in the poshest of restaurants worldwide and this just does not achieve that vibe and rather they just come across as rude.
This is a place I always take my out of town guests to but I am going to reconsider this for next time as it was embarrassing to be in such an unfriendly environment. Not even one smile. And waiter walking away in the middle of us asking a question bc they are impatient. And placing fork in a half proper manner. Among other things.
I was disappointed this time unfortunately.
Fig and Olive is a great choice for any situation. Drinks and an appetizer with your significant other or a business meeting. On this occasion I was their on a business meeting. They were able to handle a unique group of allergies (eggs, nuts, gluten). It was sort of comical as we went around the table. They handled it without any problems. Great service and great food. Get the cauliflower and a mix of crustinis.
Waitress was knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations. Cocktails and wine were excellent. Dinner was outstanding; filet mignon, lamb chops, pumpkin and chestnut risotto
Evening with dinner for group of 9...first we called to change the time and they accommodated us no problem. Table was ready when we arrived. Couple of people had to leave fairly early and they adjusted the prep times so no rush and no worries. Great food and experience all around.
Fresh and fabulous!
A must when we visit Washington, DC.
Great brunch would go back again for sure
Classy atmosphere with excellently prepared food with fresh ingredients. Professional service, to boot! Some smaller plates bit pricey, otherwise reasonable.
Girlfriends weekend late lunch and the food was wonderful as always. Couldn’t decide on the menu so we got a little bit of everything and weren’t in the least disappointed. Can’t wait to return for dinner with my hubby.
I frequent Fig for the drinks and ambiance. Service can be more impartial. Altogether though, great vibes.
I come here all the time. I just wish it wasn't so loud upstairs. Maybe they could invest in sound absorption.
The restaurant has a very nice ambiance, beautiful bar in the middle and a DJ playing music on the side (at low volume). The bartender Javier was awesome at the bar, he really prepare drinks to perfection! The food was very good too, the sea bass was cocked to perfection and the appetizers recommended by the chef were delightful. I will definitely comeback to this restaurant, if you are looking for a hangover drink, ask for "el matador" and you will be back to live in a matter of seconds.
Atmosphere was amazing, but the food was not. In the future I will probably only go for drinks.
The food is bad and is overpriced. Do not recommend.
Amazing food, packed with extraordinary flavors. Could enjoy this menu every night.
However the service reminded me of a fast-food environment... mediocre at best. Fast talking waiters, never paid attention to their customers... most of the waiters and “bus staff” stayed to the corner talking amongst themselves. The hostess was friendly, but in a forced kind of way, that made us question “why the attitude”. Honestly don’t think they had any managers on staff, or if they did, no one really cared.
Bottom line... go there for the food but be prepared for horrible service.
My team went to Fig & Olive for a farewell lunch for a departing team member, and we had a lovely meal. The lunch options were very nice, and the decor and seating were very cozy and comfortable. Fig & Olive is also a neighborhood favorite for post-work drinks, so I’ll be back again soon. :)
I like F&O but this time it was a bit of a miss. The crostini were delicious as always, the kale salad was deemed "good" and the chicken BLT which I had was not good at all. The chicken was tough and very dry and something (perhaps the focaccia?) overpowered all the other flavors - I think it was might have been rosemary. I couldn't eat it so took it home - couldn't eat it later at home either.
Sitting on the long couch while fun for a group is not really that comfortable. I will return but will definitely request a table. Not my best experience.
Don’t order any entree! Their crostinis were perfect though! Great drink selection!
I have now been to Fig and Olive twice, once in Chicago and once in DC. This place is great. The food is fantastic, great drinks, great atmosphere for a night out.
It was my Bday dinner and I was certainly not disappointed. Excellent on every level.
One of my favorite restaurants. The ambiance and food is excellent as is the service. Convenient to get to by metro.
A bit pricey but you’re paying for the good stuff !
