FIG & OLIVE DC Ratings and Reviews
Went for a birthday brunch. Pretty solid experience. Service was good, but not great. The wait was a little long to order our wine, but progressively got better. Food was outstanding. Setting was beautiful. Drinks were delicious. People were polite. Would definitely go again and look forward to trying their dinner menu.
Server had a tough attitude. Didn’t make us feel comfortable at our table. She made us feel we should order quickly. No patience, no empathy.
The food was not as good as I was expected given the reviews. Seriously their small plates are good but a simple burger -highly priced- was totally flat.
I think this place would be good for a drink because the ambiance is nice. Food service is slow.
Some good high points - mushroom dumplings; three olive oils served with delicious bread. Excelllent service. Low points: eggplant spread was ice cold; pretty good after it warmed up a bit. Beef carpaccio oddly lacking in flavor, except for balsamic vinegar.
Great location for a gathering of old friends! The setting is beautiful and relaxed and the food is consistently good. We enjoyed an assortment of the flatbreads and each one was delicious. The combinations are unique and flavorful! We didn't sit at the bar, but it looked like a fun place for a drink with friends or a date on a Saturday evening. I highly recommend Davon as your server. He was attentive, professional and friendly. A+ for customer experience!
Went there for our anniversary and it was amazing! Husband ordered the Filet, which was cooked perfectly and I ordered the delicious Truffle Risoto. They gave use a complimentary glass of champagne and dessert to celebrate our special occasion. Will definitely be dining there again!
We were celebrating a big birthday on a Sunday night, and chose this upscale restaurant in the heart of City Center (built on the grounds of the previous Convention Center). The restaurant overlooks one of the passages between streets (9th and 10th in this case) so it's a quiet setting at the back of the building. The downstairs is a more lively bar-like atmosphere, whereas the upstairs was quieter and more elegant. It's a large area, but our seating at a booth over the passageway was more romantic in nature.
The food was excellent. The Fig and Olive salad was a mixture of just that, plus goat cheese and nuts--big enough for two and very tasty. The fish and scallops of the bouillabaisse were roasted separately and the sauce was poured over the whole at the table. The lamb chops were grilled rare, just as I like them, and quite large.
Our waitress had 5 tables, but was sociable and excellent. All in all, a lovely meal.
Ian, the General Manager, and his team were brilliant. He personally took the time to answer questions on the menu since it was our first time. We have dined in some of the best restaurants on every continent and I must say that his table side manner was outstanding. As a boomer, I found the music something everyone would enjoy and the clientele went from millennials to beyond boomers. Constance and Peter rounded out our dining experience.
Will be returning soon!
Ambiance is always great. Service is always pretty good. The food is always HIT OR MISS. The cauliflower is different every time i come and its always lukewarm. The brussel sprouts were great on the previous times i have come but this time they tasted like a boiled sock. I am love vegetables so this is a no go for me. Doubt I will be back unless its just for drinks.
Food quality has decreased ... maybe they changed the chef ? But my pasta was too cooked and the mushrooms croquettes didn’t had the same taste ... I really felt the difference because I always come here, and for the first time I am really disappointed about the food ..
Fig and Olive was a great place to meet colleagues that were in DC for a conference. The chef prepared a sumptuous assortment of signature crostini and then we shared several appetizers and carpaccios. The sea scallops were standouts and our wine pairing (Cambria Chardonnay and Argentinian Malbec) were a perfect accompaniment.
This was my second visit to Fig and Olive and I was very disappointed by the food. Service was great and perfectly paced but the food was average at best. Brazino was dry and the Bouillabaisse nothing special and quite bland. While I enjoy the ambiance I will limit future visits to the bar.
Fig and Olive never fails... their food is amazing. They balance tastes and textures in a way that most restaurants don't . Their attention to detail is impressive. I've never had a meal there that I didn't love. I had the carrot ginger soup (vegan) which was creamy and exquisite. I loved the touch of the few thinly sliced roasted carrots. And the whole bronzino was moist and delicious. As always, their side dishes beautifully complement the meal.
