what a wonderful surprise to come here for lunch and sit on that amazing terrace. I have been to the fig & olive in NY but this was my first time at this one and it was just as wonderful an experience. I love the French daily prefix lunch option. What a treat that was! I will def be back...can't wait to sit inside in our oh so dreadful winters to be taken away to another world!
Great Food all around. Nice bread and olive oil to start, great dessert and the crostini is delicious
Every time I come here the service is poor. Last night was no exception. Largely ignored by our server. She forgot to order our second course. Brought wrong drink. Had to call her over multiple times to get her attention. This will be my last time here.
have been to Fig and Olice many times over the past 2 years and I still love it. One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. And it has become a favorite for my boyfriend and some of my friends that I have brought over for dinner as well.
The truffle risotto here is the best I ve ever had. A big Thank you to the chef for keeping the taste and quality consistent
We live in CA and this restaurant was recommended to us so I booked it a week in advance of our trip to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday. Open Table asks if there is a special occasion so I did say that it was a special birthday. We were seated between the bar and the bus station and did not see our server for over 15 minutes when we were seated. My husband got up and ordered beverages from the bar. A few minutes later our server came to the table.
Our food was very good, we enjoyed our meal. The server asked if we wanted dessert and we declined and decided to go somewhere else to celebrate. There was no mention or acknowledgement of our daughter's birthday. I was unfortunately pretty disappointed.
The service was amazing, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was everything we could ask for and more. Will definitely return!
French Restaurant Week at Fig & Olive as an excellent deal. Everyone enjoyed their both of their courses. We will be back!
When we arrived, The hostess said "You are the First to check in" instead of politely asking if both of us were there. We were led up a stairway to seating on the second floor, tables of other diners next to one-another (A TOTALLY disappointing seating for a "French" restaurant expecting an intimate and quiet dining experience. "Club" music was chosen for background ambience. We were served water, and requested two wine varieties, but were brought empty glasses, and after a lengthy stay were told that the bar was extremely busy, but noticed others who arrived earlier being seated and served from the bar. At that point, with an un-attentive staff, we took our leave from the facility. A VERY disappointing experience !
Thank You for this opportunity,
My friend and I tried Fig & Olive while they were offering a French menu week. The prix fixe meal was delicious! We were very happy with the portion sizes -- during the first course I shared my burrata salad with my friend, and she shared her croquettes with me since the portions were plentiful. The service was great - we seemed to have someone visiting our table often to refresh our water or do whatever was needed. What a nice restaurant!
As always at F&O, great food! My third time in the Chicago restaurant (I live in NYC and frequent the Meatpacking site). Manager was friendly and came to table to greet us. Server was on point and timely consistently. His suggestions were also excellent, as my friend had never been to F&O. Overall, great experience!
Food and service excellent, ambiance would have been great but they seat tables for two too close so there’s little privacy.
The variety of food and wines was great.
And our waitress was great - most helpful and attentive.
Lovely atmosphere in big comfy chairs. Great food and service.
Order as many things as you can and taste from all the plates. Everything was so flavorful. The truffle fries are a must. The cherry topped cheesecake was amazing. Service was outstanding.
We had a few issues with our meal however the manager took care of our entrees and was very apologetic.
Bar service slow...waiter became frustrated...over-all would not go back again..first time there...too many other better choices.
Enjoyed our dinner very much, including the birthday dessert our server brought out for my friend. Our server, Greg D., was great.
I love fig and olive but this nite was sub par. My tenderloin crustini was under seasoned and bland. My salmon was very dry and over cooked. Our waiter came on too strong. He was trying too hard. Just chill Josh. We are locals and looking for a private quiet meal. That said, I still love fig and olive and will definitely be back again and again. Beautiful space and wonderful meal 9 out of 10 times👍😊
My friend and I had an amazing time...we were seated outside for light lunch. Table? Beautiful. Our waiter Greg was great, and Alex, the GM checked on us, making us feel like we were VIP's (we're NOT :) I had the Kale/Quinoa Salad w/Chicken (fresh, crunchy, perfectly seasoned) and my friend had the Gazpacho which was beautiful and (according to my friend) delish. They served it with fresh tomatoes in the bowl, then poured the gazpacho into the bowl. So pretty. We finished with Green Apple & Blood Orange sorbets, an unexpected treat...uniquely pleasing flavors. Try it!!! We'll be back for sure.
This was my third time at Fig and Olive but my first time coming for Saturday brunch and it did not disappoint. I got the salmon burger and it was delicious followed by coffee and dessert all of which was great. The ambience is always nice.
Scallops were overpriced and forgettable. Signature cocktail was great; the play on the old fashioned was not. Tangine chicken was fantastic.
This is a beautiful restaurant . Easy to sit at the bar fir a civilized cocktail , with the best place for dining being the outdoor area or a place in the lounge by the window . I come here for the salmon , the sides and the apple tart . The music played is a nice touch but this place needs to be shaken up abit to compete with sone of the newcomers in town.
Terrible service. Very slow. And horrible food
We loved the food, the ambiance everything here was wonderful. Our server Michael was exceptional!! I would highly recommend this restaurant to locals and vacationers. Appetizers, drinks, main course and dessert all exceptional !
Absolutely wonderful service and ambiance! Family trip to Chicago with our 17-year old daughter. Great menu selection. We ordered a Crostini trio for appetizer. It was good, but way overpriced in my opinion. My husband had the 8 oz. filet and said it didn’t disappoint. Cooked as he asked—- Medium and excellent flavor. I ordered the mushroom risotto dish.... portion looked small, but was more than enough and was scrumptious! Excellent food and experience overall!
First time here.... and was at the restaurant for our 2nd year wedding anniversary. I honestly thought that by first impressions (the note as requested was two thumbs up) once we walked in, the ambiance was amazing. And we sat by the window that is very popular. The facility was amazing. Once we sat down, I would say it took the waiter, which by the way, did not mention his name at any point, for about 10-12 minutes to arrive to our table. I knew this because I drank all my water by the time he arrived and I wasn’t that thirsty. The drinks were ok, but not good as expected. Our expectations were very high! Once the orders for the starters got underway, the starters did take a little bit more than what I think it should take for “tapas” like starters. Once we finished the starters, the waiter took a lot of time come to us, way past when we had finished our “tapas”. I would say it took him for about another 10 minutes after we had finished our tapas to come and check on us with the first “how is everything?”, or “how are your apps”. I really wasn’t pleased with the service from the beginning. Then, the waiter did take the orders for our main dishes. Also, We weren’t sure if there were any “specials for the evening”. The food did come within 10-15 minutes. Which I think it’s adequate. I’m just very dissatisfied with what may had look like a very high end restaurant because the food was great, but to as high as it seems the service needs to be a lot better. I had the Paella, and I’ve had some Spanish Paella from “The Spanish Square” and it was not even up to par. The Salad my wife had, was just not tasteful, we’ve had a better Arugula, shrimp salad. We skipped dessert. I’m not sure if I’ll return.
Service was neglectful and not at all friendly. All the food needed a bit more seasoning. Ambience is relaxed and trendy.
Things were bad from the start when after sitting at the table for 20 min, a waiter still hadn’t come by. We had to ask a manager to order our drinks. After getting drinks and another 10 min passed, the manager finally took our order. The roasted cauliflower appetizer was so salty that we sent it back. The less salty version had little flavor. It then took almost an hour to get our main courses. The grass fed beef which was order medium arrive well- done as did the short ribs. The paella serving was the size of an appetizer and the lamb was rare ( ordered medium). The lamb was sent back. When it arrived back, it was still rare—I had to use the flashlight on my iPhone frequently because it’s so dark in the restaurant. The lamb went back again. Another manager came by to say that they just couldn’t get the temp up high enough—I don’t understand what that meant. So, I had no main course. Don’t waste your time or $. Downtown Chicago is filled with good restaurants which Fig & Olive is not.
Service very slow. Food was average. Wine list exorbitant prices by the glass.
Perhaps this is a better place for happy hour, with the crostini choices.
Food was excellent, so fresh and simple but still complex and rich flavors. Service was perfect. Did not feel rushed, but did feel attended to. Will definitely go back!
Our first time, and we will be back. Everything was excellent.
This was a beautiful setting, but the upholstery needs to be really cleaned. Our server was very good & great sense of humor!
First time here. Everything was fabulous. We will be going back again and again.
I'm a regular client. I live and work in the neighborhood. The service is great sometimes and others not. Our server on Thursday, June 28th seemed distracted. He kept forgetting things.
Maybe some more training? Won't keep me from coming, just thought you should know.
Fined at Fig & Olive twice this week for lunch and was very disappointed by the attentiveness of the servers. On both occasions, lunch for 2 of us took nearly 2 hours, while tables or 4 or 6 around us came and went faster then it took for 2 of us. Had to ask for refills on drinks, appetizers came and then a long wait for entries. Timing was off, once I would understand but twice tells me there is a problem. I will not be making another reservation, they’ve lost me. Love the food, but can’t spend 2 hours with poor service for a lunch appointment.
Delicious salmon burger
Crostini were great
Seafood platter not so great with over cooked lobster and shrimp
Ambiance is superb
As terrific service
Great snazzy restaurant with enticing menu and wine in smart area of Chicago. Second time we’ve been here, on our cross Atlantic trips.
This restaurant is by far one of my favorite places in the world. The Chicago location in the Golden Coast neighbor is beyond gorgeous with a calm and collected energy. I highly recommend asking to sit by the window. If you are traveling alone on a weekday, bring a book and/or mobile device and get some light work done while enjoying your meal.
