FIG & OLIVE Chicago
Book your next event with us
We visited a few years ago I think when Fig & Olive was new. This second visit was at the request of our guests which we were happy to oblige. The food is still very good and the staff attention is also very good. However, the environment is a bit, well, tired. The big tell is a large section of lighting burnt out at the bar. The loss of light makes the bar and adjacent dining area dim and a bit shabby. Hopefully this doesn't mean F&O is coasting. But back to the food. We were a party of four with one vegetarian. All the food we tried was tasty, visually appealing, and wam-to-hot where appropriate. The crostinis are terrific. we ordered three copies of four different versions (forest mushroom, manchego, goat cheese, and pea) and these were all devoured. As were the main courses. Frankly, we had so much food we couldn't try everything that we'd want to try (we'll have to come back). We had two orders (one for each couple) of the F&O dessert tasting. This was a terrific end to the meal. Definitely recommended, hopefully the lighting is fixed.
Professional, courteous, efficient
Wonderful atmosphere with great food. Our server Laura was outstanding. Thank you for a memorable afternoon at your lovely restaurant.
Great for Sunday Brunch.
We came for my wife’s birthday which was not acknowledged at all. Our waiter decided to ignore us a majority of the night (my guess is because we aren’t white). He went to all the other tables several times more than ours which was very annoying to say the least. We had to get his attention so he would come by to take our food orders. This is not what I expect when I spend decent money for my meal. At one point he came by our table and simply gave us two thumbs up as a way to ask if everything was good. We barely were spoken to while he would go to other tables and have full blown conversations with the guests. I will probably not dine here again and do not recommend it to others.
Amazing as always
I would have given the food 5 stars but for one appetizer wanting for more flavor. The staff was kind and attentive. I went with my 80 year old parents, but kept thinking it would be a great place to bring a fun young date. Good energy.
We felt a little cold in our sits. At some point it was unconfortable, but this is my only complaning. The place is really beautiful.
Hip, great food and drink options, trendy yet comfortable. Nice to have a place like this in our neighborhood. Will be back.
All 4 of us ordered from the PriceFix special dinner menu and then added two desserts to share. We all had cocktails and two of us had wine that was included w/ the meal.
Everything about our meal was fresh, delicious, well presented and loved by all of us. 3 had the salmon special and the other person had the duck breast. I especially liked the mushroom & black truffle croquettes. The waiter introduced me to a new version of one of a gin that I liked so my cocktail was amazing too!
We life in Florida and visit Chicago 2 x's a year and we will definitely be back to dine here each time we do. My husband said he'd like to eat there twice the next time!
First time, we loved the restaurant, the atmosphere was awesome
A very vibrant ambiance, really enjoyed the evening.
The food was great and we started with their signature cocktail, you must try it... The fog and olive. So refreshing.
For the food it too was delicious the duck breast was cooked to perfection and my hubby really enjoyed the Branzino.
For dessert don't miss the Brule Cheesecake, with cherries on top, it was divine.
We will return Everytime we are in Chicago!!
Over all very nice experience. Really enjoyed the food and it was a beautiful night to sit in the outdoor dining area.
My dinner partner was so impressed with this restaurant that she's thinking of booking a private party there. The food was delicious and presented beautifully, and there were many vegetarian choices and options accommodating other dietary restrictions. The bar and balcony were especially lovely, and I look forward to returning.
A beautiful setting and elegantly prepared food.
A fairly good food venue. Food quality was fine, but not as good at its location in Newport Beach, California. Great Chicago location. Very good staff.
Excellent food and service. The live DJ was an unexpected hip and cool touch.
The food was excellent as always. The noise level due to the DJ was high so it was difficult to have a conversation.
Great food. Every dish I got was delicious. Prices were reasonable. Nice feel of the small outdoors patio on the third floor. Service was attention without being overwhelming. Would definitely recommend!
Atmosphere of Fig & Olive was amazing. The servers were attentive and gave amazing recommendations on what to order. I will definitely be returning!
So awful! Never ever ever again!
Food is great and tasty. Our seat is next to 10 people group, so it was noisy little bit.
We had been to Fig & Olive a few years ago for brunch and it was wonderful. This time, my friend was in town with her daughter and we decided to dine here for dinner. We had delicious appetizers - the crostini! They were fantastic! I ordered whitefish and my friend and her daughter each ordered NY Strip and Filet Mignon. Both ordered them medium-rare and both were over cooked. My girlfriend asked to have hers taken back and the staff prepared another steak, only to also have this one come back very over cooked! The waiter was wonderful and felt badly about it. One of the steaks was comped, but we were taken back by the fact that the steaks were not prepared according to the request. We paid a lot to eat here (including the bottle of wine) and had heard it was a really good restaurant for dinner and we just kind of expected to get a medium rare steak when they both ordered it this way. I wasn’t thrilled with the way they handled the situation overall and felt badly that my friend and daughter were in from out of town and had this kind of experience.
Brunch menu selection was magnificent. And a terrific atmosphere.
It was our second visit there. Love the food!
For the price of the food should’ve been better
Atmosphere was good. Food was savory, and perfectly portioned. The drinks were decent, but we did not grab anything too special off the menu. As we sat down, my chair was extremely big and the seat had been really worn down. I didn’t care much for the wooden arms on the chair either, much rather preferred an armless chair.
The truffle risotto is to die for - be sure to add scallops!!
The food is definitely disappointing. The place is very beautiful, though. If you are looking for good food, don't go here. If you are looking for a beautiful quiet place for a date or special occasion, you might like this restaurant (but it is pricy).
Food was delicious and it's a great atmosphere. Small annoyance was a cocktail charge $3 more than listed on the menu.
Went for dinner. So good we went back for brunch!
We always have a great time at Fig & Olive. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. This was our first visit for brunch and it was wonderful.
I don't appreciate going out for a nice meal and having the waiter rush us through in less than an hour. Not my idea of a fun evening, particularly for $200 a couple.
Date night while in the city. We went early (5:15) so noise was not an issue. Service was excellent and food outstanding. Drinks were very good as well. As a suburban person I’m always a little shocked at prices, but actually this was typical of a nice venue in the city. What can I say, she is worth it!
We celebrated Fathers Day at Fig and Olive. The service is amazing and the food is spectacular. Our server Josh was very attentive and went above and beyond to make our experience special.
The food and service were both well done for Father’s Day brunch. I couldn’t have picked a better place for a unique menu and atmosphere on this occasion. The coffee was top notch too!
Great time again. We went for a Father’s day / Birthday and the service was perfect and god amazing.
We were here for Father’s day brunch. The room is lovely, though our large table was squeezed in at the back next to the waiter’s station. We were also disappointed that the menu had been changed for the day without us knowing. We were there for brunch at 10am and most of the breakfast items from the regular brunch menu were not on this menu. Our table of nine literally had 8 French omelettes. The staff were apologetic and brought complementary desserts at the end of the meal which was thoughtful.
I might suggest this restaurant to a friend. There are other similar vibe restaurants in Chicago that have more outstanding food. The back ground sound was a bit too loud and made it hard to converse without having to lean across the table . The service was excellent and serving sizes were plentiful. But, there was nothing spectacular about the food - maybe it was just our particular choices, I had the LEMON chicken and though the serving was way more ( an entire half a chicken ??) then I expected or could possibly eat and was only so-so . It wasn't yummy enough to make me want to eat much of it. Ambience = good, service = great, food= boring.
