Built in 1927, Fig@313 stands today as an original historical landmark of San Clemente, with a history that is meant to be shared with its seaside community. Carefully constructed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, distinctive design features include red-tile roofs, white stucco walls, hand-crafted windows and arches, painted tiles, and open-air courtyards.
Originally owned for the first 33 years by John and Jeanette Riley, 313 El Camino Real was renowned as Riley’s Waffle and Coffee Shop. Legend has it that actor John Wayne frequented the restaurant for a hearty American breakfast along with many travelers from all over the world. From 1960 on, Riley’s Café would change ownership many times, evolving into a furniture store, French restaurant, tequila company, and catering business. In 2012, the current owners purchased the property and began renovations and restoration, while staying true to the integrity of the original style.
We like the ambiance, and the service was very good. The food was “just okay” for the price. We’ll try it again and hope for a better outcome.
Ceasar was ok. Seafood melange was good except for shrimp which were tough. Short rib was great.
Very good food. Excellent service. Really noisy. Could barely carry on a conversation
This is the second time I have been to the Fig@313 I have eaten inside and outside and it was wonderful. The food and service was excellent and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality dining experience.
A perfect new addition to our town with fabulous food! It is a small space so reserve ahead. Perfect for date night or out with friends. Will be back!
I thought the food was outstanding. I would have given it 5 Stars except if thought that $25 corkage fee was a little excessive and there wasn't one red wine on the list from Napa which is usually my go-to bottle.
Food was delicious. Service was great. Ambiance was gorgeous. And the prices were great! Overall a great place to eat and have a nice quiet date night!
This a great spot for an intimate date night.
We tried several dishes. The goat cheese fondue was good as a starter along with the fig tart. The crunchy salad was delicious and the lobster ravioli and seafood linguine were both big hits.
Met our friends for a 7:00pm dinner. Our table was available immediately. Not the best table as some of us looking at the kitchen through the decor. Love the setting otherwise, beautiful patio. Needed to adjust the patio heaters for the cool evening.
Service was very good and attentive. A little slow on receiving the check at the end. Seems to be a common theme in a number of places we have been.
Food overall was very good. I had the shellfish with linguine. Sauce was a little salty, but seafood was good and plentiful. The two ladies had the short ribs and were both pleased. My friend had the salmon dish and said it was the one of the best he has ever had.
Will definitely be back. Our friend said it best, (From Corona Del Mar) ‘ wish it was closer, we would be here all the time’. We are locals and will be!
Food was fabulous, best apersol spritzers!
Patio is very nice
Specials for the night should be offered without having to ask as well as soup of the day. Server was attentive and friendly. Prices quoted for specials was different then what was on the bill. Food was good and ambience was great. Would go again.
We enjoyed dinner outside on the patio, great atmosphere there. The charcuterie plate was amazing- figs, jam, cheeses, fruit and other goodies tasted great. The short rib entree was huge and just fell apart- the horseradish sauce was excellent along with the garlic yukon gold potatoes and fresh mixed veggies. The New York steak entree was prepared nicely sliced, cooked perfectly. Flavors were very enjoyable! we'll be back...soon!
First time here from a recommendation. We had an early reservation sat outside. Service was very good, cocktails we're delicious. Appetizer (calamari) and sauces very good. Lobster Ravioli and there signature dish was excellent!
Well prepare, nice presentation. Highly recommended this restaurant and will certainly return.
Love this place, menu is very creative the chef does a wonderful job the owners are very lovely and he put a lot of thought into this wonderful restaurant in San Clemente
Absolutely fantastic dinner and service. Now It’s in my Top 3 restaurants in San Clemente with The Vine and Brick.
The food was fantastic, but it truly was the service that brought this restaurant to 5 stars. My husband and I both agreed that when we dine here again (and we will) we will request for Adam to be our waiter again!!! Patio seating was beautiful and has great ambiance for date night.
Atmosphere, service, drinks and food were amazing. Large portions of food which was a great surprise. Best salmon I’ve ever had. Service was awesome, they catered to all needs.
FIG 313 will delight your palate as you nestle into the warmth of a Spanish revival interior that soothes your soul. The FIG signature salad is scrumptious as well as their goat cheese fondue appetizer and their pork lollipops. You can't go wrong with any of your food choices and the chef delightfully surprises you with specials that are scrumptious.
FIG 313 is a welcome addition to San Clemente and it is our favorite restaurant!
The brunch is amazing!
It is probably one of the best brunches ever!
Don’t miss it!!!!
My wife and I were seated in the indoor dining room, which is crowded. People (and wait staff) were constantly having to squeeze by. They have a large outdoor dining area, which probably would have been a better choice.
Regarding the food, I got the Maple Chicken, which was very good (provided you like brussel sprouts). My wife got the Scottish Salmon, which arrived very under cooked.
We'll probably give this place one more try, and sit outside this time.
Great food and service! We had reservations on a Friday night and were given option of inside or outside- seated right away.
Had a great experience! Service was fantastic and ambiance was relaxed and elegant. . Drinks are really good as well as the starters.
Birthday celebration. Service was excellent! Parking can be a challenge in downtown San Clemente.
Ww’ll be back.
Very good food created with the top quality ingredients and did I mentioned the great service. Great cocktails and very reasonably priced wine. Elegant decor. Classiest place in SC. Fabulous decor with a such a attention to detail. Next, must try brunch.
Another great restaurant to choose from in San Clemente. This one has great food and service. I would put the food at one of the top three in town. Large portions and expertly cooked. Wonderfully remodeled vintage building. No dedicated parking means you are on your own. But that is typical in San Clemente as dedicated parking spots are often full after 6:00 p.m.
The food here is really, really good. We split the beet salad and had the trout and pork shank and all three were really good with large portions. Pours on the drinks could be a little bigger, but overall experience was great. Arrive hungry.
We enjoyed our dinner, food was very good. We took our neighbors who are foodies and they very much enjoyed it. It's nice to have another great restaurant in San Clemente.
A couple of notes when you dine here, make sure you sit outside on the patio - charming area with an easy noise level. Avoid eating inside - it’s cramped, right near the small bar and very noisy. The food, while delicious, is a bit overpriced for what it is, and cork fee is $25. All said, expect to pay a bit more than you really should for a nice meal, not a great meal.
Amazing food in a lovely environment. The fig theme is used really well, and not overused. Menu is really interesting, and the chef clearly is talented enough to carry off some unusual combinations of ingredients. My new favorite restaurant in my home town!
We had dinner outside in the patio and the service was excellent (Adam was the best :)--!
The cuisine, as always, was superb and the evening was very much enjoyed by all 6 of us.
Thank you for a very nice evening and another wonderful dining experience at Fig 313.
We'll see you again soon.
My girlfriend and I went there and we had a great dinner. We each got the fresh fish which was the sea bass. It was prepared really great. The host was great and he told us about the brunch that you will be doing. Our waiter was James who was excellent. Looking forward to going back with my husband
Our first time there on the weekend and it was a a bit of a disappointment. The food was stellar as always however the service was definitely not what we were used to. The tables were far too tight indoors and we were constantly bumped by other guests and servers getting through and around tables. The waiter was extremely slow and the timing of appetizers, salads, entree’s was all screwed up. Never again on a weekend.
Can always count on Fig 313 for wonderful food, great service and a perfect ambience. Every staff member worked to make our anniversary a memorable event.
A perfect place for dinner in San Clemente. Fabulous food, especially the short ribs and fig salad. The servers were friendly and attentive. We will definitely return.
Unique flavour combinations.
Second time eating @ restaurant. Unique dishes and incredibly delicious. Rainbow trout was outstanding including the lamb shank.
Great location and patio setting. Menu was appealing and food quality good. JB the waiter was very attentive. Will repeat.
Love the design, location, food and service. My favorite restuarant in San Clemente now!
