Nice food. Great service.
Food was very good, prices on the high side, but not for what was offered. Sunday dim sum is half off, which we didnt know at the time. That made me happy. Totally going back. Seemed more authentic chinese then many places.
Food was good, but the ambience and menu seems to be confused. The aesthetic vibe doesn’t match the music. The menu is full of family style/family portion and prices to match that, however, all tables on a Friday night were parties of 2-3. The restaurant was completely empty inside, and we were all on the patio since those were smaller tables. Music level next door was competing with the restaurant’s music. Service was alright. I want to like it since we enjoyed the food, but I think it needs a revamp.
Eclectic menu with dishes served in random order based on what the chefs are preparing. Happy hour-a new feature offers some bargain prices. Not your ordinary brown sauce Chinese wok dishes.
Valentines Day with my other Mom. A terrific experience, lovely evening, delicious food & excellent server (Ty) and the incredibly friendly crew all created a most joyful time!
Loved the food and service will definitely be back
Mediocre food - disappointing.
Won’t hi again for
Great Chinese food and it’s next to the ArcLight so it’s a perfect place for dinner and a movie.
Exquisite table settings and serveware
Nice big space
However, this is quite simply the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Everything is in a sweet bland syrup either cooked on low-medium heat or deep fried. I don’t think anyone making the food has ever tasted what the original dishes are supposed to be like. The salt pepper squid was some breaded onion ring- like thing. The mapo tofu was a bland watery syrup with large tofu cubes. The fiery wings were chicken wings in a soup wrapped in foil
Good Food, great prices and quiet atmosphere. It was pleasant and a welcome break from the usual crowds at the downtown Culver City restaurants.
Loved it! Great food and amazing presentation. Staff was wonderful, great prices!
Extremely accommodating for a party of ten on NYE. Service was great and well timed. Food was delicious. Value was fantastic.
I am Vietnamese/Chinese. There are very few Chinese restaurants in Los Angeles. Of these, only one is authentic and it's not 51. This is Asian Fusion cuisine and I was highly disappointed.
Christmas evening and the restaurant was not properly staffed. Over an hour to get served with our first dish. Great food though!
did not honor our reservation
We arrived on time for our 5:15pm reservation on Christmas. They were clearly not prepared for what the rest of the country knows to be a traditionally busy night for a Chinese restaurant. The hosts had no idea what to do and sat an incomplete party that arrived after us. When we were finally seated at 5:50pm we were told the food would take 40 minutes. We had a 7pm movie but had kids with us, so we took a chance since they needed to eat and nothing else was open near by. The food came out in spurts and was not fully cooked (raw vegetables in the fried rice?) and by 6:55pm, 3 of our entrees were not out, including the kids meals. We ended up leaving and canceling those items but the bill still came to over $100. The only saving grace was that the waitress was wonderful and frustrated herself. But all and all, the worst dining experience I’ve had in a decade.
Waiter knew we didn’t eat spicy or garlic. I thought he did a good job of accommodating us. We had to send back spicy noodles. He wasn’t aware of the kick.
very slow service. Ran out of a beef dish we wanted. The shrimp fried rice was awful
drenched in soy sauce. The only good dish was the green beans. The chicken was dry
We wont go back
Food was good. Waitstaff was fine. Thankful to get a tasty lunch on Xmas day.
Unfortunately, the service failed us. The table that is offered to us is right besides the door which is freezing in this weather. We asked for changing tables but the waitress refused. There are many tables open for seating within 2 hours. I hate to say this but when American customers come in, they are offered by much better seats. I think there is some discrimination going on. Furthermore, the food is ok but not as authentic as we expect. We will not come to this restaurant again. Very disappointed.
The food was not very good. The lettuce wraps was too chunky and the lettuce was dripping wet with water and there was only four pieces.
There was some spice in the duck that I did not like. The lobster dumplings were good. I am surprised the food wasn’t better it was good when I had it delivered
Food was great. Service was excellent. Easy access to parking. Very affordable. All 4 of us completely enjoyed the experience.
One dish raw another undercooked. Mediocre service. Not recommended
Server got lost after main course delivered and had to hunt someone down for the check. Eating outside was noisy due to location next to gathering spot open to the public.
Food is delicious and it’s a great space. Happy hour all day Sunday is amazing. Service not so good. Would go back for the food but be prepared to be patient.
The chicken was poorly dressed and under cooked, all the flavors were off, more than a bit strange. The steamed fish had no flavor whatsoever. Not worth the time or money.
This was our second time at Fifty One Kitchen. Our first experience was wonderful, so we decided to go back. Our second experience was a complete disaster. Our server was pleasant but not on the ball. Our food came out at three VERY different times, so the first two dishes were cold once the third arrived. We had to ask twice where our third dish was, as it was the main dish and the others were sides. We had several people show up at our table to ask what we needed, but all seemed incredibly disorganized. We may try one more time, as our first go was a success!
Great food and service, just like the last time I dined there.
Our server told us the food is supposed to be a healthy version of Chinese dishes. The flavors are different. However, our dishes were uninspiring, except for the soft shelled crab appetizer which was delicious. The Fifty-one noodles came with soggy mushrooms and a sweet sauce that was not appealing. The service was just ok. The restaurant is attractive and the table placement is spacious, but the soul and country music played throughout the evening added nothing to the ambiance. Not inclined to go back.
4 of 7 people we are with got sick from the food. All the vegetarian food was oily and did not taste good.
Couldn’t get our order. Waiter smelled bad. Got up and left. Not go back. Not recommended.
Portions are enough for 2-3 people. Everyone's pleasant. Park either on street, in parking structure, or valet.
Noise factor mainly loud background music, probably set for a busier night. there were few patrons when we went.
Great food, poss overly large portions ;-)
Service was friendly and we had a nice meal, but food was very spotty. Happy hour is a good value and some of the dim sum items were tasty. Soup, pork buns, and green beans were not good.
Loved the food! Great flavors. Our server Maica was excellent too!
Sophisticated interior in older warehouse structure. Menu varied and not the usual American Chinese dishes. String beans and walnut shrimp very tasty. Dim Sum disappointing and waited a long time.
Went expecting the usual Chinese food experience, and got much more. The shrimp were large, plentiful and delicious; the fish was fresh and flaky and perfectly seasoned. Went away full, with still enough take-home for a whole other meal!
Dine LA menu great value. Receive
Choice of appetizer, couple sides, main dish and dessert. A lot of food had enough for another meal.
Delicious food , beautiful restaurant and excellent service.
Food was delicious and very good portions. We ate here for the first time and took advantage of the Dine LA menu. We will definitely return.
The food server was great and the ambiance/decor was beautiful but the food wasn't good. The hot and sour soup was really sweet. The Lobster wasn't moist and the spices were very odd. The spices on the dry pot dish had a terrible after taste. We were told the spice is supposed to act as a numbing agent. There is just a really random spice that is used in multiple dishes and it isn't good. Also, the restaurant was empty the entire time. Sadly, I don't think they will be around very long.
