What a mixed bag this place is! The good - lovely atmosphere, quiet, charming. Good (but pricey) selection of wines by the glass. The not so good - SALT! Lots of salt in everything. The mushroom appetizer would have been fabulous because the plate had wonderful mushrooms of all kinds. But the sodium killed the dish. The guinea hen was absolutely delicious, but the portion was pathetic at any price, let alone $42. The "gulf shrimp and polenta" was not gulf shrimp like I've ever had, the shrimp themselves very small and nothing special, the "polenta" looking and tasting like quinoa. When I questioned this, I was told it was some special corn. Don't see the point at all, the grain was tasteless, the texture unpleasant. What's wrong with standard polenta? This was no improvement on the tried and true. It seems that with a little more attention and work this could be a great restaurant. But I will wait for them to get their act together. At these prices, you can do much better elsewhere.

We apologize for your experience. I had followed up with our server regarding your experience. The only concern/question you had was in regards to the black corn polenta. We had informed you it was Dakota black corn polenta not quinoa. I feature the Dakota black corn to celebrate the corn eaten by my Blackfeet and First Nations People. The passive/aggressive review is unfortunate. We would have gladly taken proper corrective action had you brought these concerns to our attention at the time.

Field and Cellar is an undiscovered gem! Chef Massey’s creations rival any restaurant in the Berkshires. We had the Duck Wings, Foraged Mushrooms and Egg, Venison Loin, and Nison Short Ribs. All are highly recommended. They cocktail menu was most creative. My Rose Bush Manhattan was delish. The service was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. There was also a jazz duet. My only criticism, which is minor, is that the dining room could be spruced up to match the quality of the food and service.

Uneven service, decaying white elephant for ambiance. Food tried and succeeds sometimes.

Chef Jim Massey expertly prepares the regular menu offerings as well as a list of specials. The food was superb, the menu varied and interesting and the service first rate. On a Friday night there is even a piano playing softly in the dining room. It is a great choice as well as a terrific value for people who appreciate fine dining.

The amuse bouche, lobster rolls and steak tartare were all excellent. The bison short ribs were way to salty and the chef made an adjustment to the bill. This would not keep me from recommending this restaurant or going back. We had eaten there three weeks earlier and had an outstanding meal

Menu was limited but food was good. However, in every other aspect (drinks, service, ambience) they are not up to par for a restaurant at this price level. Too many other great dining options in the area to settle for this.

We had dinner this evening at Field & Cellar. The service was friendly and competent. The atmosphere was quiet and easy going. The wine by the glass was good and reasonably priced. The sour dough bread with blueberry skin and honey butter was warm and crispy The meal was spectacular. We split two entrées. The crispy rabbit and the blistered tomatoes and cheese filled squash blossoms. This was not a lot of food but both plates were beautiful, very well prepared and delicious. We finished with the cheesecake and lemon cake. We met the chef to thank him for the great meal We have been to many high end restaurants in the US and Europe. The meal st Field & Cellar was as good. Certainly, if you go for fine dining, don’t miss this place.
