"Rooted in the local farm-to-table movement — a place where seasonality and culinary tradition are celebrated in tandem.
One part Hawaii and one part Brooklyn. The atmosphere shares a brasserie feel with a laid-back island sensibility—a celebration and homage to all of our favorite things we enjoy eating and drinking.
Crafted with brick & reclaimed wood, our urban Hawaiian farmhouse features an open kitchen, lush plant wall, brick walls, and lots of natural light in a historic Chinatown building. The bar mixes classic and modern cocktails with artisanal flare with a well-curated wine list.
Loved everything about our meal. And the playlist was awesome!
Crowded noisy spot. Service was disappointing, but I could tell our waitress was totally capable of good service, just seemed busy with her other tables and maybe just caught the wrong night. We waited awhile for basically everything. Food was delicious for the most part, and modestly priced. Be prepared to sit in your neighbors laps basically, so not super intimate.
Came back to Fete for lunch and as always was not disappointed. The Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich is exquisite. It is amazing how they get such a depth of flavor in the chicken. The slaw perfectly balances the sandwich. The Chaz Burger is delicious. I've never had such a juicy burger in my life. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Both dishes become even better paired with Fete's fries and marinara like ketchup. YUM!. For dessert definitely order the olive oil cake and olive oil ice cream. I was very skeptical but it's DELICIOUS! The cake is light and with a dense crumb. The ice cream has a lovely floral note. It's like nothing I've had before. A must try!
Going on 100+ times and it gets better every time. And as an extra point since restaurants come and go so easily on Oahu, on Friday evening so many restaurants in and around Chinatown were only half or less filled, Fete was packed till 10:30. This is Williamsburg/Greenpoint Brooklyn packed. And it’s like this most of the time. It’s like a grand old French Bistro with locals dinning every night and newbies learning that Fete is a true destination. Chuck Bussler has a hard time visiting all of the regulars who dine there nightly. So I’m confident Fete will not be leaving.
The food is always great! The service is good and overall good experience
Amazing food from start to finish and at a price that seems more than reasonable considering other restaurant comps in the area. Only complaint would be the tables for two are small and slightly two close together. Being a larger man it would be nice to not feel packed into a corner but it wasn’t that bad overall experience was 5 star and we’ll definitely be back!
Natalia our server was fantastic! I had the linguine carbonara and flan for dessert.
Both were excellent! I’d definitely recommend eating here.
For some reason we had to wait 40 minutes for our entrees. Food was okay.
Food was delicious but we had to wait a long time...there was a Beach Boys concert that night so the restaurant was busy...didn't seem like they were prepared for the extra customers
Had 6:00 pm dinner before theater and barely made 8:00 pm show. Restaurant got busy and service suffered because of limited staff. Special of day appetizer was disappointing but entrees and wine were great. Tables for two are VERY close together so expect a less than private dining experience. Appreciate the local produce etc. and unique menu.
We’ve been coming to Honolulu every year for the past 15 years and this was by far one of the best dining experiences we have had. The food was delicious, the ambience perfect and the service excellent. I can talk about specific dishes, but we all have different taste. What i can say is the strawberry fennel sorbet to finish was out of this world! We will be coming back, for sure!
Outstanding food. We ate here twice on our one week trip to Honolulu.
The food was very good, but it was incredibly slow from the time we sat down to the time we actually got our food. I wouldn't recommend arriving really hungry. The waitress and drinks were great, though.
We love this place! Hate to point to chicken on any menu as a favorite dish but here it is really amazing! Staff attentive and thoughtful. Home made rocky road ice cream. Way underrated wine list. Wow.
The food and service at Fête is outstanding. This was our first time trying dinner service. The dinner seating was a little tight and service was a tad slow, but it was First Friday and very busy so it's understandable. The waitstaff was very apologetic about the wait time for our food and gave us free snacks as we waited. We came for lunch previously and it was much quieter, and relaxed. We definitely plan on coming back for lunch AND dinner. We would definitely recommend this place.
The Foie Gras Gyoza was delicious. The King trumpet mushroom and water chestnut's umami flavor balanced the sweet tanginess of the poha jam.
The Bistro Steak Frites is superb. Definitely order it cooked medium. The steak was juicy, had a slight chew, and you could taste the meat. The steak's natural flavor wasn't masked with a bunch of spices/flavorings. The gorgonzola crema added a nice tangy kick to the steak.
The Pappardelle was exquisite. On par with Arancino's at the Kahala. The beef was succulent and fork tender. The ragu had a rich tomato, meatiness to it. They add ricotta on the top which adds a nice creaminess to the dish.
Dessert is to die for. The pastry/dessert chef at Fete is amazing. The Banana Jam Chocolate Tart is mouth watering. The banana jam isn't overly sweet, nor does it have that artificial banana taste. You can taste the care that went into making it. The 70% chocolate ganache plays nicely off of the jam and the salted caramel. The bitterness of such a dark chocolate is cut just enough by the other flavors. The walnut-chocolate crunch adds a nice texture to the dish. Fete also has a brownie dessert that I can't wait to have again. It's a rich dark chocolate brownie with a hint of cherry, topped with house made ice cream and walnut-chocolate crunch. Decadent but oh so delicious.
Although we arrived early, we were seated and served promptly. The food from appetizers to dessert was delicious and proved to be a wonderful prelude to an evening at the theatre.
Fete is always terrific, great food, great drinks, terrific atmosphere.
Excellent lunch at Fete this week! Can't wait to go back for dinner.
We needed a restaurant close to Hawai`i Theater.
My only complaint about Fete was that it was our least meal of the trip, we were literally on our way to the airport. Had we tried Fete earlier in our vacation we would have gone multiple times. This was by far our favorite dining experience during our week long visit. Every part of our meal was outstanding! We will definitely be back!
Expensive and portions of main course small but I enjoyed it.
I thought the food was excellent, interesting combinations and the service was great. I thought it was a little expensive for the portions but, it was a culinary experience
We go to Fete once a month, and we have always had a great time. Their food is , and the staff is exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable of their menu.
Great food Great Service. Orange wine was amazing. Olive oil cake with pistachio and rocky road ice cream so damn yummy ❤️😋 We will definitely go back
We always love our meals here
Great food. Great ambiance. Location is on a corner in the middle of Chinatown with big picture windows to watch the constant randomness of N Hotel street. Overall it was a great place.
Best Quinoa burger in town. A bit expensive, but service and ambiance are great.
Amazing food made with love and service is on-point!
This was my 3rd time dining at Fete. I ordered the special Meatball sandwich with ricotta. It was the second time I had it, and my first time friends ordered the same. We were not disappointed. The service, as always, was excellent. Or server was attentive and pleasant. I highly recommend Fete for lunch.
75th b’day celebration for my husband. Food was delicious and our service was superb. Great assistance with choosing our wines & anything else needed. Highly recommended for any occasion.
I've eaten here many times and the food is always good. But they were very slow in service. We arrived at 6 and had to be at the Theatre at 8. No time for dessert.
Great service, Great food...
Perfect before going to Hawaii theater.
Always great food, leave feeling happy and satisfied. Got spoiled with a special chef dessert which was amazing. Definitely a favorite spot for date night
Its always an amazing time here. The beef tartar is crazy good we love it also the service is fast and really nice.
We love Fete! Great everything! Great food, service, people and ambiance!
The waitress served us and then disappeared. Couldn’t find her. Finally someone else helped us.
Fete is always a good choice. Food, service and ambiance are in perfect synchronicity at this Chinatown gem. What I especially love is the perfect blend of the cutting edge dining trends from the mainlands most innovative dining cities married with Hawaii’s unique “talk story and cruise at your own pace” vibe. Fete nails it every time.
If you have made it through this review and are still deciding if this is the place for you then look no further- I promise you will not find a better spot.
Bartender Amber was excellent! Love to go back to sit on the bar counter and eat and drink her special cocktails.
Not only was this restaurant a hidden gem, it surpassed our expectations. The service was great (Thanks Cloe). The ambiance and the food were superb. I will definitely return!
