"Rooted in the local farm-to-table movement — a place where seasonality and culinary tradition are celebrated in tandem.
One part Hawaii and one part Brooklyn. The atmosphere shares a brasserie feel with a laid-back island sensibility—a celebration and homage to all of our favorite things we enjoy eating and drinking.
Crafted with brick & reclaimed wood, our urban Hawaiian farmhouse features an open kitchen, lush plant wall, brick walls, and lots of natural light in a historic Chinatown building. The bar mixes classic and modern cocktails with artisanal flare with a well-curated wine list.
Good service and great menu that changes seasonally.
One of my top three favorite restaurants on the island - great food, friendly and attentive staff, and great atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Excellent service and good food!
Another Tour de force. Amazing staff. Great greetings. The only restaurant in Chinatown that is packed and stays open so late.
You must always pick whatever is their special Fish Dish. Everything else is worth trying. We’ve tried everything. Just to let you know, we are in love with east coast oysters. Fete is the only restaurant on any of the Hawaiian Islands that serve pristine east coast oyster WHEN they are in perfect condition. Prior to Fete opening up I hungered for east coast oysters. Oh by the way, being former wine Educators for 30+ years in NYC, Fete has the best wine list around.
The food was very good, but service that day was very slow. We weren't in a hurry so slow service was okay.
Great place. I sat at the counter and was able to talk to the kitchen staff.
Never disappoints; great food. The ahi appetizer should be added permanently to menu!!
Fete is one of the best restaurants I have ever experienced. The whole experience starts with the owners who are focused on providing great meals in a wonderful setting. The menu and nightly specials provide terrific choices and simply great food. Wine lovers will enjoy the range of selections of a carefully assembled group of wines that compliment every combination of offerings on the menu. Great ingredients prepared to perfection makes a for a lovely meal and experience. Fete is a special place and a restaurant that should not be missed.
Fete is simply wonderful.
We sat at the bar and it was a bit cramped, but our bartender (Amber) was amazing! My husband and I watched her mix drinks all night and it was mesmerizing. The food was delicious!!! We loved everything we ordered, and were so full we couldn’t get desert. But, we will definitely be back again. The kitchen was kinda slow cause they were backed up a bit, so, Amber poured us some Prosecco (on the house) for waiting. Overall, both of us thought this was one of our best dining experiences, ever!!! Can’t wait for our next date night!
Overall it was good
Great taste, presentation and service. Have to give credit to wine and dessert menu.
So many reviews I’m sure they become boring because I say the same thing. A totally relaxed bistro environment with a staff that makes everything flow. Add on possibly the best executive chef and her awesome staff and the BEST wine list on the Hawaiian Islands and you end up with a 3-4 star New York Times( my opinion) restaurant.
Food took a while to get. Overpriced and not that much selection. I wanted the oysters but they didnt have it that night :(
And our table was way too close to the other table next to us.. they practically were looking and listening to our conversation the whole time, felt ackward
The service was excellent, the food delicious! Everyone around us was having a lovely time as well.
Man do we love this place! The best plan is to bring friends and try everything. We went two nights with 4 people and sampled almost all of the menu. Mona our server helped us design our meal. Local, fresh, and creative is this restaurants way. Many ethnicities and flavors represented. Cocktails are great, wine prices very reasonable! Thanks Mona and the friendly team at Fête!
The special meatball sub was delicious and a nice change up from the normal menu. I miss the cavatelle!
An absolute gem. Unique and inventive menu full of locally sourced food. A great cocktail and wine list. This would be a stellar restaurant ANYWHERE - including New York and Paris. Go out of your way to dine here.
Wonderful food and the best friendly service we have had on Oahu ; thank you!
Wonderful food, very diverse menu, excellent bar, good people behind it all.
Good smoked beet salad. Risotto with beef cheek was bland. What got us was the bill where they added a “service fee”. Seemed like a double tipping thing. Pls just add whatever costs into ur menu items or allow your customers to tip accordingly instead of adding a line item like that.
Everyone was lovely from the time we stepped
into the restaurant until we left. The service was
excellent and the food was great!
We were asked if we were going to the hula
concert nearby and when we said “yes”
our server assured us that we would not
My only regret was that we did not get to try
the sorbet... next time...😝
Loved everything about our meal. And the playlist was awesome!
Crowded noisy spot. Service was disappointing, but I could tell our waitress was totally capable of good service, just seemed busy with her other tables and maybe just caught the wrong night. We waited awhile for basically everything. Food was delicious for the most part, and modestly priced. Be prepared to sit in your neighbors laps basically, so not super intimate.
Came back to Fete for lunch and as always was not disappointed. The Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich is exquisite. It is amazing how they get such a depth of flavor in the chicken. The slaw perfectly balances the sandwich. The Chaz Burger is delicious. I've never had such a juicy burger in my life. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Both dishes become even better paired with Fete's fries and marinara like ketchup. YUM!. For dessert definitely order the olive oil cake and olive oil ice cream. I was very skeptical but it's DELICIOUS! The cake is light and with a dense crumb. The ice cream has a lovely floral note. It's like nothing I've had before. A must try!
Going on 100+ times and it gets better every time. And as an extra point since restaurants come and go so easily on Oahu, on Friday evening so many restaurants in and around Chinatown were only half or less filled, Fete was packed till 10:30. This is Williamsburg/Greenpoint Brooklyn packed. And it’s like this most of the time. It’s like a grand old French Bistro with locals dinning every night and newbies learning that Fete is a true destination. Chuck Bussler has a hard time visiting all of the regulars who dine there nightly. So I’m confident Fete will not be leaving.
The food is always great! The service is good and overall good experience
Amazing food from start to finish and at a price that seems more than reasonable considering other restaurant comps in the area. Only complaint would be the tables for two are small and slightly two close together. Being a larger man it would be nice to not feel packed into a corner but it wasn’t that bad overall experience was 5 star and we’ll definitely be back!
Natalia our server was fantastic! I had the linguine carbonara and flan for dessert.
Both were excellent! I’d definitely recommend eating here.
For some reason we had to wait 40 minutes for our entrees. Food was okay.
Food was delicious but we had to wait a long time...there was a Beach Boys concert that night so the restaurant was busy...didn't seem like they were prepared for the extra customers
Had 6:00 pm dinner before theater and barely made 8:00 pm show. Restaurant got busy and service suffered because of limited staff. Special of day appetizer was disappointing but entrees and wine were great. Tables for two are VERY close together so expect a less than private dining experience. Appreciate the local produce etc. and unique menu.
We’ve been coming to Honolulu every year for the past 15 years and this was by far one of the best dining experiences we have had. The food was delicious, the ambience perfect and the service excellent. I can talk about specific dishes, but we all have different taste. What i can say is the strawberry fennel sorbet to finish was out of this world! We will be coming back, for sure!
Outstanding food. We ate here twice on our one week trip to Honolulu.
The food was very good, but it was incredibly slow from the time we sat down to the time we actually got our food. I wouldn't recommend arriving really hungry. The waitress and drinks were great, though.
We love this place! Hate to point to chicken on any menu as a favorite dish but here it is really amazing! Staff attentive and thoughtful. Home made rocky road ice cream. Way underrated wine list. Wow.
The food and service at Fête is outstanding. This was our first time trying dinner service. The dinner seating was a little tight and service was a tad slow, but it was First Friday and very busy so it's understandable. The waitstaff was very apologetic about the wait time for our food and gave us free snacks as we waited. We came for lunch previously and it was much quieter, and relaxed. We definitely plan on coming back for lunch AND dinner. We would definitely recommend this place.
The Foie Gras Gyoza was delicious. The King trumpet mushroom and water chestnut's umami flavor balanced the sweet tanginess of the poha jam.
The Bistro Steak Frites is superb. Definitely order it cooked medium. The steak was juicy, had a slight chew, and you could taste the meat. The steak's natural flavor wasn't masked with a bunch of spices/flavorings. The gorgonzola crema added a nice tangy kick to the steak.
The Pappardelle was exquisite. On par with Arancino's at the Kahala. The beef was succulent and fork tender. The ragu had a rich tomato, meatiness to it. They add ricotta on the top which adds a nice creaminess to the dish.
Dessert is to die for. The pastry/dessert chef at Fete is amazing. The Banana Jam Chocolate Tart is mouth watering. The banana jam isn't overly sweet, nor does it have that artificial banana taste. You can taste the care that went into making it. The 70% chocolate ganache plays nicely off of the jam and the salted caramel. The bitterness of such a dark chocolate is cut just enough by the other flavors. The walnut-chocolate crunch adds a nice texture to the dish. Fete also has a brownie dessert that I can't wait to have again. It's a rich dark chocolate brownie with a hint of cherry, topped with house made ice cream and walnut-chocolate crunch. Decadent but oh so delicious.
Although we arrived early, we were seated and served promptly. The food from appetizers to dessert was delicious and proved to be a wonderful prelude to an evening at the theatre.
Fete is always terrific, great food, great drinks, terrific atmosphere.
