Enjoy live music under the pines almost every night in the expansive concert area or quieter al fresco dining on the front deck. In the winter, cozy up to the beautiful fireplace in the elegant lounge/bar.
As always food/service was great! They make the best pizza I have ever eaten ... and ... I really don't like pizza normally. The outside dining will be better as it heats up for this summer, right now if a wind comes up it can get a little cold even with the heaters. There is always inside, upstairs and inside at the front, but the ambiance of outside is far better. Later in the year when the MUSIC starts, it will even be better outside. During that time MAKE RESERVATIONS !!!!
Love this place! The back patio is great, the wine list is great, the food is great and the service is great. Plus you can have dogs. :)
It’s the best restaurant in Idyllwild
Best pizza & steaks on the mountain!!!
Beautiful ambience & incredible service. Katie is the best server ever! Frank the owner is great.. Highly recommend!!
Will definitely go back!
We chose to sit on the back patio at the pizza oven bar. Great choice for enjoying the live music and people watching. Food was great. Sevice was a little slow but was friendly and professional. This was the place to be on a Saturday night in Idyllwild.
We sat on the balcony. I highly recommend this if you’d like the ultimate in privacy. It’s like sitting in your own personal dining room. Of course the weather plays a part in this. The waiter was extremely attentive and made perfect wine recommendations to go with our meal. The only bad point (which the restaurant could not control) was someone was using a chin saw a few hundred feet away which made it very noisy. Fortunately that only lasted approx w0 minutes. The pizza is made in a brick oven and is awesome! The wild boar lasagna was amazing. And we had enough to take home for a second meal.
Good food, service fair, eating outside was great, when summer gets going, eating outside with music will be a 5 star
Great atmosphere especially in the back where it is also dog friendly. My husband has the lasagna with beef and wild boar, delicious. I had the pork chop, which was to die for. Throughly enjoyed our meal. Would definitely recommend!
Wonderful back patio space, excellent service and we had the polenta and chicken parm sandwich for lunch - wonderful! We will return. Thank you!
As always, no dissapointments here! The Pork dinner was fantastic! Service was great as well. And the Long Island Tea before dinner IS the most authentic on the hill! Cannot wait to return again!
We have not found our new Idyllwild, CA favorite restaurant. The establishment was charming yet had a modern touch. The food was outstanding and we recommend the 8oz rib eye steak and the half chicken. It may be a little more pricy than other local restaurants, but the quality of is sure worth the few extra bucks. Ferro's will has not become our restaurant of choice when visiting this mountain gem of a town.
Our second time at Ferro with friends while visiting Idyllwild. We have had an excellent experience both times. The food is top notch and the service is both friendly and efficient. We will definitely return the next time we are in the village. Thank you.
I must eat there everytime I visit Idylwild. This was my first early spring visit and the place was warm and cozy with a fireplace keeping it so. My absolute favorite dish is the lasagna, best I have ever had and I'm a New Yorker with amazing Italian eatery all over Manhattan. I love this place
Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed by this dining experience. The service left something to be desired and the food was incredibly salty. The space was quaint; however, in my reservation I specifically asked for a ‘romantic table’ and we were placed in a very busy spot right next to the bar and the staircase...I will say that the ingredients were fresh. We asked for a dessert menu and even though they brought one, no one ever came back to ask what we would like. So we ended up leaving frustrated and no desert. Not worth the 150 bucks I spent. Bummer.
Everything was excellent. The only disappointment was that when I made online reservations for the patio I thought we would be seated in the back patio which is much nicer than the front patio but I guess it wasn’t open. Perhaps they should post that information on their reservation site.
Wife's birthday party with six people. Outstanding as always.
We enjoyed a dinner at Ferro during our vacation in Idyllwild. Our waiter was excellent, the food delicious and live jazz downstairs very enjoyable. Our only suggestion is to change the LED lights from the fluorescent type to the warm type, and to increase the dimmer to improve the amount of light. It was so dark we could barely see what we were eating, and the little light there was had that harsh fluorescent quality.
Meatballs were great, spaghetti underdone, dessert Affogato was wonderful
Awesome food great service very accommodating. 5 ☆
We love dining at FERRO when we come into town. Hands down, the best food and restaurant in Idyllwild. Cant wait to come back next time!
One of my go to places after a great hike or backpack. Great foodie food, nice wine list and often the best spot for great music.
The food was awesome and our waitress was wonderful!! Lovely setting and very romantic!
It was a bit cold on the patio, even with the heaters. My husband and I both had the pasta with meat sauce and his was more of a soup. Not sure if that was because it was gluten free or not but he said it still tasted good. Mine was good, a bit too much cream. We had the green salad, a bit too tart on the dressing. We loved the bread sticks, butter and olives served and the kids cheese pizza was yummy. We had the chocolate cake for dessert, the cake itself was very good but the ice cream was not well liked by the kids or my husband. I would go back again but order a bit differently.
Best restaurant in Idyllwild
Great drinks, amazing food
Love this restaurant! Fantastic steak, pizzas, pastas. Excellent!
Ferro was everything I had hoped it would be when I made the reservation. The staff was friendly and efficient and our waiter was beyond excellent. I thought the lasagna was some of the best I've eaten and my husband and I enjoyed the creamy fennel sausage pizza. I would definitely go again and highly recommend!
It was a day-late Valentine’s Day dinner.
As always, Ferro was excellent. Service and food was up to their high quality standards.
Ferro was amazing! My husband and I just. Celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary and they made it very special with amazing food and service!
The best porkchop dinner I ever had. Katie is an awesome waiter.
EXCELLENT and EXTRAORDINARY service fron Bridget, food from the kitchen, and goodwill overall. Better than any restaurant in larger cities— superb salads, pizza, pasta, wine... ohlordy, it just doesn’t get any better ANYWHERE.
Very courteous, friendly yet professional waitress. Great ambience.
Pizza is always good at Ferro — loves the Caciocavallo & Broccolini (even though broccoli was used). Poor quality salmon, unfortunately. Slightly intrusive wait staff.
Go hearty and go for either the spaghetti and meatballs or the Bolognese. Both are outstanding and a perfect reward after a solid hike. They also have an excellent wine list and the basil gelato is a nice ending to a lovely dinner.
I was very disappointed overall of the restaurant. The food was medicine to say the least. The sauce of the pasta was watery. The branzio came with a size that was cold, and they said it would just take two minutes to get the side warm. Over 10 minutes later it was brought back- as my boyfriend was practically finished with his entire.
The flourless chocolate cake was completely uncooked and was practically batter. I was so frustrated at this point, didnt even mention it how bad it was
To top it off, I had mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary while booking the reservation. And no mentioned at it at all.
Extremely disappointed overall.
Excellent, as always. We come here often and enjoy the food
As we left the restaurant my wife turned to me and said "From now on when we go to the mountains can we just stick to pizza?" Should have kept it simple. Had high expectations... or at least high hopes. Too high. We waited 20mins past our reservation time. And props to the hostess for comping us the bread for our troubles. Generally the food was just average, if not a bit bland.
For a more elegant night out, I recommend Ferro. Food was great. Staff very friendly. Recommend making reservations.
