Our favorite place to eat in Idyllwild. Great wood fired pizza, especially the one with sausage and fennel pollen.

Ferro is a wonderful rustic gem in the Idyllwild community! I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary on a Saturday night. We sat outside, and the ambiance was wonderful. They had live music, and it wasn't too loud, and it wasn't too soft. The food was amazing, and the wine was even better. Our server was both attentive, but did not hover. I would highly recommend! Especially the cheese plate!

Two of us had bad meals. The gluten free pasta was terrible. There were very few clams in the steamed clams and the broth was tepid. The dressing on the Caesar salad had a bad taste. The two of us who ordered the seafood soup liked it.

Prices a little high, food was delicious, portions not too big or too small, very accommodating staff, table reserved thru OpenTable was ready for us.

We came to Ferro for the second time. Everything is very good, the linguini Bolognese is really outstanding. The band that was there on July 4 was entertaining and the volume of their performance was just right. All the servers and staff were super attentive and the outside tables have a nice ambiance. We also bring our dog with us and they don't mind, also bringing her water. It's a great restaurant and we love it.

We look forward to going to Ferro every time we're in Idyllwild, though this time was less than excellent. Our friends reported that their plates of wild boar lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs were great; however our cacio e pepe was dry, not creamy and cheesy, with just a sprinkle of pepper on top. The branzino was ok - nothing special. The GF pizza we had as an appetizer was fair - the crust was the pre-made variety; there are much better pizza doughs that are GF. Since our bill was considerable (with a bottle of wine and desserts), we feel less inclined to return on our next visit.

Don’t understand the glowing reviews. Although my salmon with vegetables and barley was tasty, my husbands half citrus brined chicken was flavorless and not very tender. For dessert I wanted to try the basil gelato. I like to be adventurous but this was inedible with specks of black rock salt. The waiter who was very good took it back and I got the blueberry. Not flavorful so not worth the calories and I didn’t eat it. We didn’t have Italian food so perhaps we ordered the wrong things there. However anything on the menu should be a good choice. Yes, the service was fine, the scenery nice, but there’s lots of other choices in idyllwild so we won’t return.

Lunch was disappointing after loving our dinner last year. Caprese salad had terrible tomatoes, not heirloom, burrata was sour. The pepper pasta was heavy and over cheesed. We ordered bread starter along w the other items not realizing bread came w the pasta, but server didn’t mention. The servers were very sweet and we left 20%, but we prob won’t drive 2 1/2 hours for that lunch again anytime soon.

Ferro’s breadsticks and delicious wine are the cause of my being a size 8 instead of a 4. Whatever. It’s worth it! Each time we go, we have a great meal in a beautiful atmosphere. Five stars for sure.

Our family had a wonderful dinner at Ferro's. I had the 8 oz ribeye which was one of the juiciest, most tender steaks I've had in a very long time. As usual, I had the basil gelato for dessert and it was wonderful. My husband had a pizza, and our two sons both had pasta dishes. They said the pesto sauce was wonderful. We always enjoy their breadsticks and flavored butter - very good.

We had a reservation for two and we were told we could have a table in the small dining room by the bar or upstairs by the stairwell. We chose the one in the small dining room and it was nice. However, it was really noisy and the bar crowed was loud...very loud. So if you want a quiet night out, which we were fine it wasn't, this isn't the place for you...at least on a rainy night. I read the website which said smart casual dress, so we dressed up a bit from our jeans and t-shirts and well, we didn't need to. Like all the other restaurants in Idyllwild, the crowd doesn't dress up. Wine was excellent. Bread sticks and butter and olives excellent! We shared Margherita pizza with bacon and a Caprese salad and topped it off with the apple cobbler with walnut sauce and vanilla bean ice cream. All very good. Not fancy as we thought it would be, but very nice. Our server was very good...She was working so hard and yet was so nice and asked us several times how everything was. Her assistant, who put the bread and water on the table not so much. Twice we thanked her and she just looked at us. It was strange. But another assistant, a young man, came to clear the table and he was very nice. Oh well, overall Ferro you are a very nice addition to Idyllwild!

As always food/service was great! They make the best pizza I have ever eaten ... and ... I really don't like pizza normally. The outside dining will be better as it heats up for this summer, right now if a wind comes up it can get a little cold even with the heaters. There is always inside, upstairs and inside at the front, but the ambiance of outside is far better. Later in the year when the MUSIC starts, it will even be better outside. During that time MAKE RESERVATIONS !!!!

We sat on the balcony. I highly recommend this if you’d like the ultimate in privacy. It’s like sitting in your own personal dining room. Of course the weather plays a part in this. The waiter was extremely attentive and made perfect wine recommendations to go with our meal. The only bad point (which the restaurant could not control) was someone was using a chin saw a few hundred feet away which made it very noisy. Fortunately that only lasted approx w0 minutes. The pizza is made in a brick oven and is awesome! The wild boar lasagna was amazing. And we had enough to take home for a second meal.
