Enjoy live music under the pines almost every night in the expansive concert area or quieter al fresco dining on the front deck. In the winter, cozy up to the beautiful fireplace in the elegant lounge/bar.
Birthday dinner. Superb. Best meal in months.
Always fantastic. The food the service and the mountain experience cannot be beat.
This is the 6th review I have written about FERRO's. I will let the next words explain the 6 time and the seventh at this restaurant. SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER and the next time I am sure that it will be SUPER again .... it is the best restaurant in the small town of Idyllwild, CA. We have a home there and have been at all of the restaurants in the area ... FERRO's is SUPER!!!
And thanks to Katti ... she is the best server!!
While this is one of he better restaurants in Idyllwild, it was a bit disappointing. Some entrees were not recommended by our server; others were not available. My pork chop was properly cooked, juicy and tender, but a little lacking in flavor. My wive's chicken was excellent. The service was good. The ambience was plain. They had an excellent bar, but it was very small. Everything was reasonably priced.
Very nice and cozy upstairs. Too cold for the patio in December, but looked like fun in warmer weather. All 4 of us enjoyed our dinners. Only been once, but would recommend. Staff seemed vey friendly.
Fireplace on would have been nice. But food was outstanding! And the staff were great.
The pork chop with polenta and diced apples is exceptional. The pork chop is large in size with bone in, thick, tender , moist and flavorful. Covered porch with heaters is cozy, relaxed and quiet. One can enjoy the weather and still be comfortable. Service is prompt and professional yet friendly and welcoming.
Probably the best and most consistent restaurant in Idyllwild. We love it. A very extensive and authentic Italian menu and the wood-fired pizza is awesome. Hard to be disappointed here.
First time for lunch, excellent as always. Lunch menu is different from dinner menu but is not posted on their website.
We always recommend Ferro and Idyllwild as a great couples getaway, if you can’t make it to Italy, Ferro in idyllwild is close enough
We had a lovely dinner. Great food and service, and live music!
Satisfying meal after a day of hiking. Serving portions are on the bigger side so go with a big appetite! You won’t regret it!
Never disappoints! Great food and service every time!
Terrific anniversary dinner spot!
We had a lovely time and our server was excellent. Sadly, on a Saturday night they were out of pizza dough.. and eggplant... However, our server did his best to compensate
and the service and food were excellent. I only gave four stars
because the pizza dough and eggplant was gone by 7:30pm.
Highly recommend Ferro. We will be going back.
Connecting with a special friend
We celebrated our first anniversary there, the food was delicious! We got the prawns, carpaccio and the boar lasagne. It was a fabulous evening!
Make sure you order your steak one full cooking temp higher than you normally eat it. We ordered medium rare and received a seared red steak. Another table close by complained of the same raw meat. Great steak value if you order right. Pasta is good, but very overpriced.
very nice staff, great food. We had a table inside however, we found the noise level from the bar to be distracting to our dinner experience. There were a few gentlemen that obviously had a few to many and were very loud using offensive profanity. The three other couples inside the restaurant did not appreciate the behavior either. Once the group left, the visit was awsome!
Had a nice dinner. Staff was good and friendly. Not the best but not the worst. She was friendly but seemed rushed. Food was good but we only ordered main course. We forgot to ask about appetizers and the waitress didn't ask. She took our order and ran off. Food was good but luke warm. My husband had lasagna and I had the bolognese. Again flavor was good but food was a little cool. Atmosphere was very nice. Would need to go back to really judge
One of the four entrees (vege lasagna) had to be returned. Burned on the bottom. It was replaced without issue. The vege risotto had good flavors but was too wet, not at all creamy. All other food (wild boar lasagna, veal meat balls, fish soup (wow), salads and desserts were excellent.
The service was outstanding, you have trained the staff well. Really good!
Wine list good and reasonable.
We will come back for another try.
Unfortunately this is my second poor dining experience here in the past year. I ordered Spaghetti and veal/pork meatballs. The sauce was bland—no real Italian flavor and the meatballs were even worse—tasted like cardboard. The last time I ate here about 3 months ago I had lasagna and it was just so-so, Again lacking a distinctive flavor of any sort. With that being said, the pizza was xlnt. But if I want something other than pizza, I will go to the other Italian restaurant in town.
Enjoyed the live music. Didn’t want to leave. Very nice and knowledgeable service.
It was our first anniversary and I had done my homework before booking anything. Ferro was amazing! The back patio is so beautiful. The food was incredibly authentic as they had Cacio e pepe which I havent seen since Rome. And it was really great. Best steak ever! We shared the 16oz. My husband and I were blown away by everything really. Service, food, name it, it was great! Thank you Ferro!
Our favorite place to dine in idyllwild. It never disappoints. Food is creative and delicious. Service is always attentive.
This is our second time here and the food is great. The service is even BETTER! We came with a large group and the servers easily could have been annoyed by the tiny bit of chaos but they were delightful. Great Italian Wine List as well.
We were outside on front deck. Brigette was excellent. Music was a little loud. Really enjoyed wine, white Italian blend.
Fabulous food. Fabulous service and amazing ambience ! The pizza is out of this world 😍
They food was terrible. Apps came out over cooked and shrimp and clams were clearly not fresh. Veal meatballs felt like they were sitting before they were served as the sauce congealed around them. Meal was so poorly executed we went to a nearby restaurant for a second dinner. Sadly, a shockingly underwhelming food experience from servers to execution.
We went for our 33rd Anniversary. We enjoyed our meal. The service was great! It’s cozy. They went above and beyond for us and we would love to go back.
Had a very good meal, but was a bit disappointed with my rib eye steak. The meat was good, but I would not call it a rib eye. Lentil soup was excellent. We also had salmon, which had a great crispy skin, but the salmon was a bit dry. Very tasty, but because the fish was thin, it got dry. Great service, but noisy overall. Would recommend, but have had better meals in previous visits.
It was cold out so we elected to sit upstairs - however, even though there were few people, one couple was so loud it was very disruptive. They weren't laughing or yelling, they just talked very very loud. We couldn't stand it so moved to the front patio with a heater. Our food was excellent, service excellent until the end. Our waiter was great before and during our meal - however when it came time for our bill, I had put a $100 note on the table for my husband to use to pay, but we hadn't received the bill yet. When the waiter came with the bill, instead of giving it to us he picked up the $100 and asked us if we needed change. I stated that we didn't even know how much the bill was, so he gave it to my husband who looked at it and said, "Yes, we need change." The waiter took the $100 and came back with the bill and a $20. I asked my husband if the bill was exactly $80 and he said, "No, it was $79.74". It seemed the waiter was trying to force us to give him the $20 as a tip. Instead of a $20, we should have been given a $10, $5 and 5 $1's. We went inside and asked to break the $20 and gave him a $15.00 tip. My husband wanted to only give him $10, but I mentioned that up until that point he had been a very good waiter. We feel for a waiter/waitress to ask if you "need" change is extremely presumptuous and puts the customer in an awkward position. Maybe some waiters get bigger tips that way if the customer is uncomfortable saying they do indeed require change, but we feel it is not right.
Delicious Italian based food and a first class bar with absolutely perfect service. Obviously a place which cares and puts customer experience above everything. Outstanding.
Exceptional as always, along with Lori’s amazing fresh peach cobbler - to die for...
Salad way overdressed - chicken terrible - service ( they were overwhelmed) drinks came after food was served - pizza was good . Lower your expectations of this place and maybe you won’t be disappointed.
Amazing as always!!!
Love Ferro for so many reasons and often go once or twice a week. The food is amazing, service is top notch, love to sit outside under the pine trees. You can’t match Lori’s fresh Peach Cobbler. It’s always a Happy Day at Ferro.
As always excellent
Excellent food, great patio ambience. Everything was top notch. Chef has some serious skills in seasoning, flavoring the food. This restaurant could easily stand up to a top NYC or LA bistro. Must try!
Love this place, good food and always a great service
