As a bar-focused restaurant, we craft garden-to-glass cocktails served alongside Chef Joe Zobel's modern American cuisine inspired by West Sonoma County's abundance of biodiversity. Along with our menu of innovative and delicious dishes, the bar features house-made beer and spirit-free elixirs, as well as locally-sourced and small-production wines by the glass. Fern Bar's airy, plant-filled space can be found within The Barlow, Sebastopol's popular shopping and dining destination. Our outdoor dining room is covered with a heater next to every table, it still gets cold so bring a layer.

Always amazing food, and wonderful staff. The tables are quite close together though, so you always have another table way too close. I got there at opening for brunch, and the music was way too loud and distracted from the experience.

It was Memorial Day. The restaurant was NOT busy. However we were told we could not sit side by side on the bench seating (as opposed to across the table from one another), because we would get in the way of other diners. Our first two dishes were beautiful and delicious (the steam bun and the lamb skewers). We then got the Umami Bomb. The dish looked like a disaster (or like the food from guests unfinished plates were all scraped together). We had asked for a description of it, because it wasn't clear to us from the menu. We still weren't really sure, but we ordered it. Though plated and presented horribly, it was delicious, however WAY too large of a serving and VERY overpriced at $34 (for broccolini, mushrooms and rice). Also, when the server brings the device to the table to process the payment and is standing there while you are trying to decide on how much to tip, etc. its very off-putting. We should have tipped less. The place has a cool vibe and ambience, but probably just for drinks in the future, if at all.

Always good. Fried chicken is a staple and the mushroom umami bomb is a favorite. Also not to be missed are the craft cocktails.

Out Mothers Day dinner at Fern Bar was perfect! From cocktails, food and service, everything was a 10! Our server, Issac was wonderful; kind, attentive and fully answered all of our questions about dishes. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating. We will be back!

The staff is lovely. The food for lunch overpriced. $29 burger and $34 for rice dish. Non-alcoholic drinks same price as regular drinks. Too bad since it is a cozy atmosphere.

Very good, but smallish dinner menu. Their vegetarian options are excellent. I highly recommend the Kimchi pancake (or whatever they call it). Also recommend the “Umami Bomb”. The non veggie options are pretty good too. Great cocktail menu.

Very nice meal at Fern Bar. I have celiac, so their gluten free choices are pretty good. They also have a dedicated fryer so fried chicken and French fries are free from cross contamination. Yes the fried chicken coating is gluten free. Drinks were great, and the service superb. If you’re dairy free, they were super cooperative with that too. They made a grasshopper with coconut milk instead of cream. Delicious.
