Felix’s never disappoints. Good food, good family atmosphere, reasonable price.
Felix's must be the official restaurant of AARP, catering exclusively to tourist retirees. That said, the cooking is well above average for Gulf seafood joints in both quality and diversity. The three soups, oysters Felix, West Indies salad, and daily catch with crawfish or crab Oscar are among the highlights. Elders who enjoy hanging out with crowds of their demographic cohort will love it, even more so if they know or care much about what's on the plate or in the glass.
Felix's never disappoints. Reservations are always right on time. Service and food is exceptional, as well as the atmosphere.
I drive 50 miles from Pensacola FL to dine at Felix’s. The seafood is great, they serve the best crab soup I have ever eaten, and the service is outstanding. Great views of Mobile Bay and the occasional alligator during the summer months. Our favorite restaurant and we always go there on special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.
Alex the waiter was awesome great customer service and very friendly
The service and food were outstanding. Great place !!!!!!
Food was really good. We reserved a table by the window and were satisfied with that. Waiter was friendly, but service was SLOW. We finallg got our food about 45 minutes after being seated and the restaurant was not even that busy. Plus, we got our food after a lot of people that got seated and ordered after us. Spent almost 2 hours tgere after it was all said and done.
Service was excellent and food was awesome . We had a reservation and table was ready when we got there
Food and service were Exceptional!!!
Waitress was a little too into our neighboring table making it hard to keep a conversation without the distraction. Food was superb.
One should experience this place pretty fun
Went for my husband's birthday. We had a great experience & the food was outstanding
Food was great and the serves was outstanding. Adam did a great job serving us and making sure we had a great experience.
Excellent menu, excellent service! Melanie, our waitress, was great! She kept us supplied with coffee, tea, and water. Our three meals were brought out at the same time by 3 cooks, and placed on the table simultaneously. The prices were very reasonable, the food was really good. My wife and I met a friend there, we drove 2 hrs in one direction, our friend drove 90 minutes from the other direction, and we met in the middle. We would make the trip again!
We came for Sunday lunch. It was a very good value and the food and service was wonderful.
We had a very enjoyable time at Felix's, service was good and food was as good as always!
We thoroughly enjoyed our late lunch, planned to take advantage of the view in winter.
The service was excellent, it’s a rare place that remembers what side to serve from and it is a nice touch to see larger dining parties served all at once by extra wait staff.
The crab soup we started with was excellent, the house salad that accompanied the meal was lovely too. Both our entrees were very good, my partner’s entree with fish, crab and the cheese grit cakes was delicious, my dish of fried oysters and pan seared fish was very good, although a little saltier than I prefer. We had the best dessert I’ve had at a restaurant in years...moon pie with ice cream and a fudge sauce that was heavenly...it was also an especially nice touch that the waitress warms the coffee cups before pouring the coffee. We’ll be back again for dinner soon.
great food as allways, great service It was fun and relaxing
Delicious food, friendly staff, and a beautiful view!
Friendly, Prompt & Attentive Service all compliment the great menu choices and daily specials.
Excellent place to eat! Reservations is always a good ideal !
My wife and I recently had lunch at Felix's; and it was, as we have come to expect, superb!!!
We had no wait time to be seated (we had a reservation). The staff was prompt and attentive, without being overbearing. Our server was excellent; her timing was perfect. She seemed to stop at our table, just was we were finishing this or that.
Our meals were delicious. I would characterize the food as a mix of southern and Cajun.
For those who have never stopped by Felix's, the name may be a bit misleading. While Felix's Fish Camp is on the causeway and overlooking the bay (with remarkable views), it is not a traditional/working fish camp. Even though, it might appear so (inside and out), but that is part of the ambiance. Which is not "painted on the walls".
P.S. Speaking of the staff being attentive, pay attention to the color of your cloth napkin, it will either be light or dark, dependent on the color of your clothing. Nice touch, and something typically found in more formal restaurants.
Felix's is a great go-to place for a predictably good meal and a local experience. If we have out of town guests that want seafood, Felix's is where take them. We've never had a bad meal or a bad experience and don't leave without trying the turtle soup!
Our experience was fabulous, as usual! Everything on the menu is excellent!
One of our favorite family traditions as we travel from Texas to Florida! The food is always delicious, and the service is top notch!!
Superb as always. Felix's has been #1 on our list for a decade and for good reason. The food is always outstanding, particularly the crab soup, camp salad, and the key lime pie. You can't go wrong with any of the entrees either. One of the few consistent restaurants left that hasn't tried to cut expenses by ridiculously cutting the little things like salad dressing. The service is always impeccable. The hour and a half we spent there alone was worth the drive from KY for the holidays. Do yourself a favor and forego those other causeway places and any other chainy tourist trap you come across -- head straight for Felix's (but be sure to make a reservation or you will wait for it).
Everything is relative. Compared to many New Orleans restaurants, for example, Felix's is mediocre, 3 stars. It can be an enjoyable experience because of decent food, a pretty view, a place to go. It's loud and hectic and feels forced and staged in service and interior atmosphere. However, the servers are well-trained to their standards and the food good (not great).
The fish is usually tender but last visit two orders of fish were so tough we thought it may be chicken when cut with a knife. The server agreed it was subpar. Therefore, the servings were replaced with flaky properly-prepared fish. However, by the time it arrived, we were too full to enjoy it.
Sadly, there are not many (if any) options for excellent food in Mobile restaurants. Felix's is, however, one of the best options related to others, in my opinion.
As usual, a fantastic evening. Service was wonderful, as was the food
The service was great. The food was not as good as I remembered. You have dropped the crab and corn bisque which was my favorite thing. The fish creole was over cooked and the shrimp and grits used to have Gouda cheese grits instead of grits with yellow cheese on top. Just not special.
Excellent service, outstanding food! Relaxed atmosphere. We’re locals, and consider this the best!
