Felix Ratings and Reviews
Hostess was lovely, but waiter non existent, never checked on our starter or main. Couldn’t find him to pay the check. Additionally my onion soup cheese was burnt on top, and my trout was drenched in butter with no taste except the fat of the butter. My husbands meal was no better. Disappointing all the way through...
A great disappointment! The menu is exciting and a kitchen offering cassoulet as a special sets high expectations. However, the results were far below expectations. The beef dishes were over cooked and the cassoulet was awful - a bland bean stew with a chunk mediocre sausage and totally unexciting confit. Quelle domage! The wine list is woefully out of date - it took four tries before they could bring out a wine with the listed vintage, in all cases 2011 instead of 2010, and the waiter never even bothered to mention that the vintage had changed. The service was very average. The fries were excellent, however.
Felix is a frequent spot of ours because we like the ambience and food. I have to say I was disappointed with the Steak Frites which was my fave dish. The Steak was as thin as a ham and I remember that was not the case before... bring the real thing back guys!
Have had many a delightful meal at Felix. Always try to hit this spot when I'm in NYC. A bit on the expensive side, but the location and people watching are worth it. Staff is really fun (if a bit loud) and food is always delicious. Thanks again for another nice visit in Soho.
This is our favorite restaurant in New York. We come here once every trip we make. This was for our anniversary with family as well. Always fun with great food - I always have the magret de moulard with escargot to start and profiteroles to finish. Always consistent. And a great vibey ambience that is elegantly casual.
Disappointing really. The hostess spent more time looking at her phone than being attentive to customers, the staff were more interested in the big screen tv to watch the game than to respond to serve us more drinks/food. Lots of missed opportunities to make us as customers feel that our needs were met. The food was good, but overpriced and the deserts were clearly frozen and my tres leche cake stale. Could have been so much better especially if the staff weren't asleep at the wheel. Sad as i remember this place as being a fun spot.
Very pedestrian French cuisine. The bouillabaisse could use an actual piece of fresh fish. The cod was unseasoned. The octopus was great. But the most disappointing part was the service. A rather rude and indifferent server didn’t leave a good impression overall.
We liked this place--except for two major things: this place ONLY takes American Express and cash---and our very rude waiter. Come on people, I've been to lots of very nice restaurants--and only rarely do I encounter a wait person who made me feel like I was truly bothering him. Not going back.
They only accept American Express or cash. Are we back in 1985? Most cards today are Visa or Mastercard and people rarely carry cash anymore. Oh yeah, there's an ATM inside that will fondly charge you a fee.
Th owner should really focus on improving the customer experience by permitting more modern types of payments. The staff is nice, but the owner really puts them in an uncomfortable position as it seems a lot of customers complain about the inconvenient payment options.
I have been going to Felix for many years : the food is always excellent and the prices are good.
This time was not an exception but the service was very bad. When got there we asked for bread and the waiter kept asking if we were going to order appetizers as if they were dependent. We had to insist to have our bread before making any decisions.
The other problem is that it was Wednesday, a horrible hot and humid day: the fans on the ceiling were not enough . They should close the doors and put the AC on on days like that.
I will not be coming back when the above 80 degrees!
This restaurant was terrible. I had high hopes for it being a cute French bistro, but instead it was an overpriced hot place with poor service and even worse food. Not sure if there was something unusual happening when I went, but there was no air-conditioning and the restaurant was sweltering. On top of that, the steak frites that I had was overcooked and did not have flavour. On top of the food being sub-par, the restaurant does not accept any credit cards other than AMEX- a fact that was definitely not made clear to me or to my friends at the table. Lastly, I was sick all day following my visit to the restaurant. Overall a really poor experience.
After hearing so many great things about Felix, we decided to celebrate my sister’s birthday there!
There was a large group of 17 of us and they seated us after having to wait for a long time.
We found a large plastic piece in our eggs benedict and a piece of hair in our pitcher of mimosa! So we called the manager and she was not apologetic at all. She quickly moved the plate away so that other guests would not see what happened! The waiter was being very apologetic and very innappropriate by touching and kissing our hand which was very disrespectful.
While we were seated, the manager moved the table away from us so she could seat other guests and the waiter immediately brought the cheque because they intended to make us leave.
Terrible food, terrible staff and terrible experience and dishonest service. Very dissapointed!
This was my 3rd visit to Felix from the UK and as always the food was amazing and the service was great. The atmosphere has always been very relaxed and it feels like an authentic restaurant that New Yorkers would go to. Despite the construction going on around the building I loved it and would go back again when in NYC.
