It would have been very good if we hadn’t had to wait for almost an hour for the table. The hostess did offer a drink while we waited.
We’ve eaten many times at Felix but this was by far the worst. You know times when you apparently have no waiter. The steak (steak au poivre) was tough and stringy, which is an indication we’ll not return.
I never write reviews but this Sunday at Felix deserves one. I made the reservation 2 weeks in advance because a friend was coming from Mexico to celebrate her birthday. Our reservation was at 3:30 and they seated us at 4:15, there wasn't any problem with that because the rest of the party arrived late. Once we were seated we ordered our food which was great and then decided we did not want any dessert but we were going to order another bottle of wine. The waiter came back with the check and was super rude about it, telling us that he was not going to serve us any more alcohol and that we needed to get up and go to the bar if we wanted to drink more. It was 5:15, we were only seated there for one hour and we were basically kicked out from the restaurant because there was no space at the bar to even stand up without being pushed. We told him we wanted dessert and he ignored us for about 20 minutes, he only came back when we gave him the check and did not even say thank you. It is the worst service and it was very unfair that I made the reservation for a special occasion two weeks in advance and only were seated for one hour. My friend ended up being kicked out from there on her birthday at 5:15 pm. The hostess was very kind about it but to be honest it is not worth it, they overbook tables and all of the waiters are screaming at each other and kicking everyone out after they take their last bite.
Terrible experience I don't recommend it to anyone!!! Unless you like eating in 20 minutes, being sent to the bar where theres no space and also get a check with an obligatory 20% tip for the worst service ever.
Big table of 15 for lunch for my wifes birthday. a windy snowy friday. cozt environment for that kind of day. service was spotty but friendly. food was good. wine was good and reasonably priced by the bottle. when a few things went wrong (understandable for such a large paryy) they comped us the late food, plus brought an extra bottle of wine on the house. overall a really fun experience. to me a test of a restaurant is not whether service is pefect but how graciously they handle mistakes., and the s place did a great job of that.
We were never actually seated because we were looking fir just
Terrible experience!!! Food was bad and low quality and too dry and burnt... service terrible... table right next to waiters... not accepting Visa? Cash only? Terrible.....
Felix lives up to its forty plus year reputation as a classic Belgian Cafe on vibrant West Broadway .
The waiters are congenial while the chef owner often greets you with a warm hello.
The cassoulet was divinely light and sumptuous.
The sole meunière impeccably prepared at a reasonable price.
The wines by the glass are perfectly curated .
voila ! , A stunning rarity these days amongst many restaurants, they have a lovely assortment of Armagnac to choose from.
The service was awful, the host was very rude when we got there and we had to ask 3 times for water and it arrived with the check. Terrible experience!
The service was god awful. The customers were rude and awful to be around. The food was mediocre at best.
Got the mussels! Lovedddddd it. Tried my friends salmon and bronzino just as yummy. Loved it 😍😍
Cute place. Didn't love the food. The Odeon down the street has way better french onion soup. Also, they only take cash and American Express, which is weird.
A cosy restaurant with French cuisine.
Our waiter was a great guy from France so we could practice our limited French.
Food was of ordinary bistro quality and our check of $200 for two is not on par with restaurant or food.
Always a good time at Felix
Estuvo todo muy bien, con excepción que la reservacion de las 3.45, nos levantaron de la mesa a las 5pm... porque tenían mas reservaciones, y no importo si queríamos consumir mas...
Superb comfort French food!!
Everything from appetizers to main course to special to dessert/cheese were delicious.
Food is excellent and the place is usually crowded with nice people. Today the music was too loud, it was raining outside so doors and windows closed, and the noise was beyond confortable.
Overall it was a good experience and meal: it was quite crowded (tables/chairs too close to one another). Was very dissatisfied that AmEx is only credit card accepted.
Go if you want horrible service! Let me start by saying I used to very much enjoy going to Felix. When we sat down, we placed an order of drinks and what I already knew I previously liked from the menu for appetizers. Our waiter (Guy with the mole on face) rudely took our menus without us ordering entrees. I politely asked for the menus back. Table next to us had an issue with another waiter so the atmosphere was already a bit ominous. At pay, I used my open table gift card reward, to which the waiter looked down with disgust and expressed an “ugh”. I was taken aback by his behavior. He then proceeds to tell me that “no one uses these”, which I thought was ludicrous of him. He hassled is numerous times before a manager came and nicely handled the situation. My tip reflected his lack of professionalism and service, and he chased us out of the restaurant while pointing at the bill. I told him it was due to his immense condensing behavior and walked out. Sad but I 100% will not be returning.
It was a very quiet night there, only 1-2 other tables were occupied when I arrived close to 7p. This was fine for my friend and I as we were there to catch up and were happy to be able to have quiet conversation. The food was excellent, the location is super- quaint and cozy in Soho...love the vibe. Our waitstaff were perfectly attentive (as it wasn't busy) but not intrusive. We enjoyed our dinner thoroughly and will be back.
Always a delicious meal, talented chef, attentive service. A favorite!
Incredibly loud. Couldn’t carry on a conversation. People pushed past our table constantly knocking over food and drinks. Food was average. Definitely would not recommend.
Top dogs, best service out there. Shoutout to Momo
Nice atmosphere and good quality food.
Very excellent food. The waiter helped us find the perfect wine.
The menu is similar to Balthazar and the prices were even higher
Good food. Loved the music but would have liked for it to be turned down so it was easier to talk. Service was nice and sweet people working there. Nothing fancy or over the top. Their brunch menu is delicious.
Nice location , especially for the summer. Food is average, nothing to write home about. There are a lot of authentic French restaurants that easily make this spot forgettable. Our waiter was unenthusiastic to say the least. My wife asked more information about the remoulade and the answer was "it's just boiled leaks". I asked for a steak frites medium rare with au poivre sauce....Got a super well done steak with bernaise. Sent it back got a fully rare version, sans une forchette. I gave up. In summary, don't choose this restaurant if you care about eating good French food and receive acceptable service. If you just care for location and appearance, and don't mind to overpay for food, then this is an okay choice.
Had a few Mimosas with steak and French fries. Nice corner spot better suited for the summer but all around enjoyed the food
Only cash or Mastercard.. lucckly we had cash! This is something that I have never seen in a New York city restaurant!!!!
Nothing short of excellent... As usual...
LOVE Felix!! Every year we make it a point to come to Felix for brunch! Charming ambiance, great food (mussels!!!)....an eclectic mix of people. Great find! Neighborhood gem!
Hostess was lovely, but waiter non existent, never checked on our starter or main. Couldn’t find him to pay the check. Additionally my onion soup cheese was burnt on top, and my trout was drenched in butter with no taste except the fat of the butter. My husbands meal was no better. Disappointing all the way through...
We came here for Thanksgiving and we loved it. Great food, good music, the people were nice, and good prices.
A great disappointment! The menu is exciting and a kitchen offering cassoulet as a special sets high expectations. However, the results were far below expectations. The beef dishes were over cooked and the cassoulet was awful - a bland bean stew with a chunk mediocre sausage and totally unexciting confit. Quelle domage! The wine list is woefully out of date - it took four tries before they could bring out a wine with the listed vintage, in all cases 2011 instead of 2010, and the waiter never even bothered to mention that the vintage had changed. The service was very average. The fries were excellent, however.
Felix is a frequent spot of ours because we like the ambience and food. I have to say I was disappointed with the Steak Frites which was my fave dish. The Steak was as thin as a ham and I remember that was not the case before... bring the real thing back guys!
Very authentic and fun but they don't seem to have any chocolate so they can't make a mocha latte which spoils an otherwise almost perfect place for brunch!
This Soho restaurant lived up to its ratings. The food was very good and the service was just right. A very lively place with a great corner location.
Have had many a delightful meal at Felix. Always try to hit this spot when I'm in NYC. A bit on the expensive side, but the location and people watching are worth it. Staff is really fun (if a bit loud) and food is always delicious. Thanks again for another nice visit in Soho.
This is our favorite restaurant in New York. We come here once every trip we make. This was for our anniversary with family as well. Always fun with great food - I always have the magret de moulard with escargot to start and profiteroles to finish. Always consistent. And a great vibey ambience that is elegantly casual.
