Haven't been back to Felidia in a few years and I'm happy to say that it's lost none of its charm, food quality nor service expertise. The table ordered the Prix Fixe Italian Tasting Menu and every single item that we were served was superlative. From the cannellini dip and outstanding bread that greet you -- to the grilled octopus, Pear and Pepper (house special) ravioli, rigatoni with wild boar ragu that followed -- to the main offerings of whole roasted duck (a special for the day) -- we were all more than pleased. The final dessert course assortment that we all received along a side of with home-baked Italian cookies topped off an excellent dining experience. From the captain to the entire wait staff, the service was not fussy, but attentive and expert. We love Felidia -- I don't see how anyone could not -- except for the exceedingly high price tag that accompanies this level of dining.
great food, great service. tables are a little bit too close but I will take that over bad food and bad service any day! thank you for having soooooo many gluten free options! and making those options as important as the rest of your offering!
The presentation of the dishes as well as the service were excellent. Everyone ravedvaboug their selection and yoj know it is good because no one was willing to share their dinner. That is a sure sign that the food was good. We will be back for sure.
Traditional tasting menu with wine paring outstanding! Great food, terrific wines, spectacular service.
That Lydia was at the next table eating with friends says everything you need to know about Felidia. We have been enjoying Felidia since 1988 and served by Pepino almost every time. The complete package of outstanding food complemented by wonderful service is why Felidia has been so successful for so long. Lydia has achieved celebrity chef status but still presided over her namesake with love and affection for the diners. In a business filled by trendy places, Felidia has stayed true to its original vision and mission, and creating memorable experiences along the way.
Everything about our dinner at Felidia was outstanding - especially seeing Lidia herself!
The gluten free tasting menu was nothing short of amazing!
Food and service are always great. Enjoyable every time.
Always good and the Lydia is most often in the house.
Great food! Great service! Reasonable prices. Restaurants like Felidia are the reason I go out to eat
Amazing vegetarian options - the six-course tasting menu was delicious and the restaurant was very accommodating with dietary preferences/restrictions. Very unique pasta options as well (chocolate ravioli!) Service was excellent.
The food is excellent and very expensive, but we knew before hand that we were paying top dollar for wonderful food. We will not go back for one reason: the maitre'd who took our order felt it necessary to correct our Italian pronunciation of every dish we ordered while displaying a lack of tact in doing so. The four people at the table were sophisticated world travelers who never had a problem communicating in Italian their dining preferences, but the maitre'd made us regret that we make the gesture to order in Italian. This made us all feel uncomfortable and frankly unwanted in the restaurant. We deserved better treatment.
Simply stated, there was nothing special about the restaurant, the food or the experience. I guess it was fine, but I tend to shoot for better than just "fine". Tripe starter was ok, but no depth of flavor. Bolognese was more a basic tomato-forward meat sauce than a rich, simmered combination of flavors. The veal dish with mushrooms was tasty, but uneventful. Servers seemed a little put out by having to serve us. Not bad, but not good. I expected more. I see nothing to draw me back.
On a bright note, the tuna seared on one side was quite good (my friend ordered that but I got a bite!).
On a picky note, their standard "iced tea" is simply odd. Almost flavored...but not. They should warn you that they have an unusual take on iced teas, especially when they charge $7 for EACH GLASS.
I go every year for my birthday and splurge on the tasting menu. They always take good care of you. Had the added pleasure of Lidia’s company as she was dining in the restaurant.
Superb! Can't wait to go back and dig in again. Delightful and informative service and grub to back it all up
Great. Restaurant. Great. Food. Great. Staff great. Wine. Overall. One of the best. Restaurants in. NewYork . Exceptional. Staff Especially. Server /Captain. JJ. Johnny. The. Absolute. Best. Can’t say. Enough. !!!!!
Neighborhood gem! Great food and service!
Always wonderful! For two or 8. Don’t miss the pear ravioli!
Interesting menu with many options. Food was delicious. A true old world Italian experience. Only thing that would have made it better would have been to meet Lidia!
Food was excellent. Service a bit more indifferent than last time was there.
Lovely place. Quiet. No music. Elegant service. This is our third time there and the food was disappointing especially for the price. Maybe it was just an off night.
Quite a nice restaurant, but not a favorite. Will likely not be coming back. My boyfriend and I had come for a late Valentine's Day dinner, the day after, and were expecting something extraordinary. The atmosphere/dining room was just okay, somewhat old fashioned, and it left much to be desired. In fact, it was quite small. There were many servers, waiters, etc and they were all hovering around in one area. That made it quite awkward when you're eating and there are about half a dozen attendants staring at you. However, they were indeed very helpful. We ordered a ravioli special to share as an appetizer, along with a zucchini pasta app. The ravioli were amazing, but they were perhaps the best part of the night. The other appetizer wasn't bad but I can't say we loved it. As for our entrees, they were both good but not great. My boyfriend was actually quite disappointed with his osso bucco because of the strange sauce it was in, and his butternut squash side was unnecessary to him. Additionally, his choice of wine was unsatisfactory as well. And I thought the Manzo was great but the vegetable sides were an odd choice. Finally, the dessert. I had ordered the tutto cioccolato, which was advertised as having "nutella panna cotta, dark chocolate mousse, milk chocolate brownies, white chocolate ice cream". All sounds amazing, right? Well, it wasn't... The nutella panna cotta was covered by whipped cream in a tiny cup and barely tasted like anything. It was just very fluffy overly sweet cream. The same goes for the 'dark chocolate' mousse, which was anything but. On top of the brownies it was, again, far too sweet. Finally, the white chocolate ice cream was really no different from vanilla ice cream and it sat on top of a chocolate chip cookie that you couldn't even cut into to eat with it. Although the plating was nice, it seemed like it wasn't thoroughly thought out. I'm a HUGE chocoholic and I was left disappointed by the arrangement. As was my bf with his banana sundae.
Would love to return here when they aren’t serving a prix fixe menu. The tiny bit of pasta we were served was wonderful, but the other courses left a lot to be desired. Our mistake for not verifying if they would have their regular menu, but we were really disappointed to spend over $400 on a meal and only really enjoy one course.
It is bad experience, the waitress used mid finger to point the food, that was really rude. And they did not even know the ingredient of one of the main dishes. Bedsides, the food and ambiance is good.
Absolutely outstanding service. Attentive, timely, friendly and helpful. They were very accommodating toward my girlfriends gluten allergy and even brought her gluten free bread.
Excellent food all around. Great service. I had the Tripe and then the Liver. Great place to go for foods like this.
Always a wonderful experience in every way. Every year for 36......always special. Thank you to all
The meal was wonderful - lived up to the hype. The veal app was extraordinary.
I try and get to Felidia whenever we are in the City. This trip, I had three friends of my daughter with me and they loved the food and the exceptional service. The Sommelier was wonderful with both the selection of our wines and her integrity when she ( and I ) felt that one bottled had corked. Try the pear ravioli!
One of my BEST experiences ever! Had dinner with friends and we were put in a small room overlooking the main restaurant. Like a private party with friends. All of the service professionals were attentive and gracious. The food is superb. Such a variety of options and everything was delicious. I highly recommend it.
We loved the room, the friendly and courteous service and, of course, the food and wine. The pear and pecorino ravioli were sublime, as was the calves liver and polenta, and the seared tuna. The wine list tended toward the high end but we had a bottle of Etna red that was superb at $90. For us it was an expensive meal, and a rare treat. The dessert sampler was not up to the rest of the meal. All three were overly creamy and bland. The deconstructed cannoli was nice but the butternut squash tiramisu was rich and non-descript. The panna cotta , likewise, seemed mainly heavy whipped cream when it should be delicate and lighter. A fruit dessert would have lent some variety and texture to the plate, as would something with really dark chocolate. The little bag of cookies we were given at the end were yummy! And the espresso was very good.
Amazing service! Made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. The dishes were spectacular. We just didn’t love one dessert but the rest was delicious! Thank you!
Everything was wonderful from start to finish. Food was delicious , service excellent.
The food was fantastic and great service!!!
We had a wonderful birthday party for my friend.
One of the finest dining experiences I have ever enjoyed. Every dish on the chefs tasting menu was delicious and unique. The most flavorful delicate pasta I have ever eaten. The venison cooked to perfection. And desserts that were fun, creative, and a perfect cap on a special evening. Hope to return soon.
Food, service and ambiance were perfect for our team lunch today. We look forward to returning again soon!
I had the lamb shank special which was barely luke warm and shockingly dry. It was underwhelming. The banana sundae dessert was quite good. In general I was very disappointed with the food. The sommelier was great, and the service was also top notch. But I went there for the food, which was not great.
I first went to Felidia's right after it opened in the early 1980's. Despite Lydia now having a world-wide reputation and a truly diverse product line, her restaurant is meticulous in every detail as if she were still overseeing the kitchen and coming out to greet the customers. Spectacular!!
