No sign of the Spring Menu from the website, making this a touch more expensive than other places I review, but totally worth it. Wednesday evening saw an older, more formal crowd, with couples in the front and groups secluded behind. Together with the wood paneling and careful buttresses dividing the space, this makes for a quieter, more romantic setting than your average New York eatery.

The bar area has extra seating so you may enjoy a drink while others dine, but this is foremost a restaurant, where the food and service are the stars. We had the Italian tasting menu, which at $95 per head is a great option for an appetizer, two pastas, main and dessert, when considering the cost of individual items. The wine list is pricey, but quality; don't drink all the Sicilian dark rosé before we return.

Be careful not to fill up on the bread before you start; it's made on site and beautifully soft and light, served with an excellent white bean accompaniment. The kale salad special had sold out by 7 p.m., but the suggested replacement from our diligent and non-intrusive server was excellent and the tuna carpaccio was the highlight of the trio of tuna special. We selected two relatively sweet pastas and after cautioning by our server to that effect, we pressed ahead as both sounded wonderful. They tasted fresh and light and those seeking a deeper flavor can add truffle shavings for a price. The servers divided the two dishes between us and served one after the other, ensuring the stronger taste was served second.

So far, so good, but the high point of the meal was the main course. My wife loved the veal, but my Mediterranean bass, cooked and displayed whole before deboning and serving on the restaurant floor, was simply magnificent. The complex, citrus tiramisu was the standout of the dessert trio, while the soft almond biscuits were the highlight of the post-dinner cookies.

Still just a few months into our New York adventure, we have a new favorite restaurant. Bravo.

Food was absolutely delicious and courses were served efficiently one after another with little down time between. My only complaint was that the wine list was highly priced other than the house wines - which were great - but some other options in the $40-60 range wouldn't hurt. It basically jumped from the house wines at $50 to $90+. Try the desserts!

Did not quite live up to its billing. Pasta was good but steak was disappointing for a restaurant of this reputation and prices. Wine list was good.

We were brought upstairs to a table by the wines. We started the evening alone but it was filled by the end of the meal. Still the ambiance was perfect. The service was attentive, even when it filled up. The bread service contained such a variety, each delicious. Raving about the bread is just the start.

The menu is not large which I thank them for. We went with the dinner for two. The options and choices are described wonderfully, but enjoying the actual food is a thrill. The pastas are light and delicious. Two are brought and going back and forth trying to determine which to end on was a challenge.

The main courses were equally wonderful. The veal was so tender, the lamb chops were delectable. Though the braised portion is not my favorite, it did not detract in any way from the meal.

We had to catch a show so we couldn't bring anything with us. But we wanted to.

The food, the experience, everything was beyond first class.

Felidia is an excellent and expensive restaurant, but not for the elderly with knee problems if are seated in the loft which is up a steep fight of stairs and very noisy to boot. In addition, the restrooms are down a steep flight of stairs. I will not go back unless we are seated in the street level dining room.

Thought the food was very good and the flavors were definitely on point. No complaints with the beef carpaccio appetizer, the eggplant parmigiana or the tiramisud. Only disappointment was with the parpadelle pasta with wild duck. The sauce and the duck were excellent, but the pasta was overcooked. Was pretty disappointed with that considering the reputation of the restaurant.

Love Lidia's cooking show and have watched her for many years. We spent the weekend in
New York City and met my daughter and her new boyfriend there. All of us enjoyed the meal and ambiance immensely - we were able to hear conversations and the waiters were flawless and unobtrusive - definitely a favorite and will go back again.
PS - The boyfriend is a keeper too!

I have been to Felidia three times before and I considered it one of the best Italian restaurants in town. I brought my mother (84 years old) from South America to NY in order to celebrate her birthday and did reserve at Felidia alongside my partner. We were truly disappointed. Appetizers were just ok. We had the pasta with black truffles: such a simple dish if correctly done. It was ok, you cannot miss that if you have good black truffle but the pasta was not al dente, the butter too liquid, whatever. My veal was simply fair, green and white asparagus overcooked, my everyday trattoria in QNS does it better. The dessert were disastruos: awful mis à plat, and worst Tiramisú in longtime. My mother is very easy-going and lives in Caracas, so she was happy. We were silently unhappy. Of course the wine was great, but that is not a virtue to be count for the restaurant. This place has gone down awfully. It does not even have a grade 'A' from New York Health Department -quite disguised behind flowers in the window you can se a rutilant 'B'. I know: that could be a totally food-unrelated fact, but.... Unfortunately Felidia is out of my list and I won't go back to there. This was not a dinner worth 450 dollars for three people!

Beautiful, calm atmosphere. The staff is so attentive that at times a server was hovering too close to our table just waiting to clear our plates.
The food is first class though the portions are not overly generous. Many choices made with the best ingredients and creativity.
It is a lovely place for a relaxing and pricey meal. An oasis of calm in a city where many restaurants have a frenetic atmosphere.

The restaurant had been recommended by a former staff member of the Food Network and graduate of the French Culinary Institute. She was absolutely correct: it is one of the very finest restaurants in New York City!
All the dishes at our table were perfectly prepared and presented, the service was carefully staged so that all dishes arrived and left without any distraction from our conversations, and each meal was imaginatively created, prepared and served.
Our only complaint was that we were seated at the back of the restaurant at what seemed to be a lovely table. Only problems were (1) air conditioning causing a draft (it was stormy and cold outside) and the ceiling was lower at our end of the room. Therefore, (2) the couple seated not far away from our table of four had voices that were magnified by the room, and they made it very hard for us to hear each other.
We will remember our wine and meals for a long, long time! We look forward to a return visit to Felidia!

I've been here several times, & always have a great meal. This most recent expetience didn't disappoint. I had the 3 course menu. Started with a selection of chicken livers......served 2ways. One serving was a pate, served with frisée and light cracker bread. The other serving were braised and served in a light butter & cream sauce, both were mouthwateringly delicious. For an entree I chose the veal cheeks "odor bucco" style. These were definitely a foodies' treat. lightly braised veal cheeks, served in their own veal & red wine jus, accompanied by perfectly cooked risotto and a broiled half marrow bone. The veal melted in my mouth, it was so tender. And the broiled marrow was the perfect mate. I followed the entree with The house "Felidia Tiramisud". This is Felidias take on the Classic dessert. A lady fingers& masarpone cheese with light espresso, all in a large glass bowl with shavings of white &milk chocolate. Just the right amount of sweetness. Service was spot on.
