Felidia Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I ate here on a Tuesday night. We opted to have the White Truffles Tasting Menu. Our waiter was amazing...very knowledgable and made great recommendations. Spaced our meal out nicely so we didn't feel rushed. Food was very good...only complaint was that the white truffle shaving was small compared to the ones we have gotten at comparable Italian restaurants.
The restaurant continues to maintain its high standards. My visit was the first time in five years and was accompanied by a dear friend on a first visit. She was very impressed by the food quality and overall ambiance of the restaurant. Her experience reminded me of my first experience at Felidia. It was wonderful then and remains that way.
Felidia has always been one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Our meal was fantastic, especially the chocolate ravioli, the rigatoni with boar rags, the venison three ways and the branzino. All were perfectly prepared. We were disappointed in the service, though. On our many prior visits, the servers were professional and attentive, but this night the servers were a bit harried and the timing of the food and drink was uneven.
We have been to Felidia's several times, but we were disappointed this time. We were shown to an upstairs table in a dark room, next to a wall. The menu featured nearly a page of "crudo" or raw dishes, and very little pasta compared to previous menus. There was also a page of truffle dishes that were very expensive, which would not have been bad had the entire menu been more complete. The bread was delivered after the entrees arrived. We came away feeling that the dining experience was no longer worth the cost.
I was visiting my daughter in NYC and wanted a special dinner. I have always been fond of Lydia's cooking shows on PBS and realized that she had a restaurant in NYC. The service was outstanding. My Manhattan was amazing. The wine selection was great. Food was superb. Very much worth the money. Thank you for a great evening.
The pate appetizer was beyond words. So good. Everything was fresh - from the Icelandic cod to the elk Ragu to the venison - and definitely authentic Italian. Simple, fresh ingredients where the flavor of each was the star. And the wine that was brought with the courses matched so well. Each time I’ve been it seems to get better.
This is our second time to Felidia and it was as good as the first!! We sat upstairs at a quiet table for two, it was a perfect location and easy to converse. Our server was terrific, professional and very helpful and personable. He was knowledgeable about the menu and able to answer any and all questions about the food. For starters my husband had the roasted octopus it was incredible!! I had the broccolette e zucca which was also very good. The sommelier was excellent he listened to our preferences and then suggested a fabulous bottle of Sangiovese. We got chatting with him about all sorts of wines and traveling, a very nice young man! For entrees my husband had the Tuna which was delicious!! Perfectly seared and wonderful flavors. I was in the mood for pasta so I had the Bianconeri; black and white pasta with calamari and a wonderful red sauce.. Delicious!!! We had a wonderful evening from start to finish, service, food, and ambiance are all top notch!
Our meal from beginning to end was outstanding. We were shown to a nice corner table for two, the sommelier assisted us in selecting a delicious wine to accompany our meal, the wait staff was professional and friendly, and the food was divine. We enjoyed a 3 way tuna appetizer special, roasted octopus with octopus salami and the pasta special with wild boar ragu. The liver veneziana was every bit as good as the liver I enjoyed in Venice, and the lamb special of beautifully prepared lamb chops and braised lamb shoulder - delicious! As we were enjoying our amaro and cappuccino, they delivered a lovely plate of assorted cookies with a candle to celebrate our anniversary.
The food was all right, but for a vegetarian it was slim on the choices. I had a lovely beet salad, with lots of cheese and a ravioli with more cheese, followed by pear sorbet. There were only two entree choices for a vegetarian, as I don't eat fish. There were lots of business people dining, so it seems like a good destination for a business meal.
Felidia never disappoints; while I hadn't been in a couple of years, it's still the best restaurant from my perspective. From the Octopus appetizer to the unique Duck Ragu Papardelle all was absolutely mouthwatering. Chef Fortunato is a master. Also on this visit, the Sommelier shared some interesting information about a wine I particularly loved from the Bastianich vineyard.
This was the first time in 20 years that we felt let down by Felidia, which is an exceptional restaurant. My wife's pasta was tough - she sent it back, but when it was re-served, it was still chewy - not even al dente - and she abandoned it. Sadly, her dessert - a small dollop of cheesecake - was sat on several thin slices of butternut squash, which were essentially tasteless. Her poor choices? Perhaps. My vitello tonnato and fegato veneziana were top class, as usual. Felidia, to their credit, made no charge for my wife's food - but she would have been much happier paying for food she liked (our usual experience).
We celebrated my wife’s birthday and loved everything about our meal - the food was great; the service was fantastic; the sommelier gave us a great Sicilian wine choice - all in just great. No dessert menu but the dessert provided was perfect along with espresso and nice cookies as a gift. We loved Felidia - look forward to our return. Vi ringraziamo Felidia!
The host was very welcoming upon our arrival. He knew we had theatre tickets and assured us service would be prompt. It was. We started with handcrafted cocktails and shared a delicious appetizer. We also split a pasta course. The staff pre-portioned the dish, which was wonderful. We had the branzino and short ribs as entrees. Both were prepared perfectly. The staff helped us select a very tasty cab.
The food was amazing, but we were most impressed with the attentive service from start to finish.
We had an early reservation, so the restaurant was very quiet when we arrived. I usually don't need background music, but early on, it may have helped cut through the silence. The restaurant filled as we continued through our courses and the energy definitely picked up.
Overall, a memorable experience! We'd go back.
