Felicia Suzanne's Ratings and Reviews
I dined here with a friend for DDW17 and was pretty pleased with most of our experience. Our meal was so delicious! The service was a bit absent after the entree was delivered by a runner. I was done with my drink before it came and was unable to order another until more than halfway through my meal. I'll still try it again just to get more of the fried oyster app...yum!
The service was great. I had told them in the reservation that it was our anniversary, so the table was sprinkled with tiny hearts. The specialty cocktail (Moscow Mule with a local citrus vodka) was so good we had two. All of the food was creative and even better than the description. We had gnocchi (potato dumplings) in a delicious buttery sauce, and shrimp and grits. Both delicious. We had two different soups--gumbo and butternut squash. As with the entrees, one was spicy and the other was mild, and both well executed. While we waited for the onion tart appetizer (which takes 20 minutes we were told) the chef sent out a sample of catfish mousse in pastry shell. Who would have thought catfish could be made into a delicious taste like that. I never would have ordered it, but after I tasted it, I wanted more. Fortunately the tart came before I was able to overorder more food, because the tart was delicious. We got a dessert to go for our hotel, and they even put some plastic cutlery into the container, which was good because otherwise we would have been eating it by hand. Everything from start to finish was first class, right down to sending instructions for parking. I am looking forward to returning.
Felicia suzanne's is a decent place to grab lunch and dinner. I took my husband there on one of our weekly Friday night dates. We had a reservation at 8pm and we're seated immediately (not really sure why reservations were even necessary, as there was plenty of seating, but whatever). The waiter was nice but there were moments where he just disappeared for what seemed like a while in between getting our drinks and taking our orders. The food, for me, is alright. Their mac&cheese is to die for, but I'm not a 5 year old, and would like more than just a harty plate of mac&cheeese. Their portion sizes aren't what you'd expect for the price of the dishes. But, it's a smart move because it leaves patrons open to wanting a dessert. I also had a $75 gift card from my an employer as last year's Christmas gift ($75 can really go along way at lunch time at FS). Overall, FS is decent, and is a nice place to take a date if you have a gift card. Otherwise, I'd probably frequent a less expensive place that offers larger portions.
My wife and I had wanted to try Felicia Suzanne's for a long time. We were very pleased with the ease of booking a table via "open table." We found the restaurant has a lot of charm. The wait staff was knowledgeable, accomdating and friendly. The food was excellent and the ambience was good. We'll be back.
I have dined here on multiple occasions and usually very pleased. However, this visit was absolutely unsatisfying. First off we had reservations for four people for 11:45. Two of the party ordered crab crepes and the server came back to tell us that they only had one order left. After waiting almost 20 minutes she returned to say they were completely out. It took more than 10 minutes for our cocktails to arrive. The restaurant was also out of several other key things such as peach purée and licquor. The server seemed very unbothered and totally nonchalant to the slow delay in the delivery of our food, especially after having to make other selections since the crap crepes were out. Needless to say, two of the guest in the party were on their lunch time and had to get their food packed to go. When the server returned with the packed food, she sat the bag on the floor (gross ). What was supposed to be a beautiful birthday dining experience, turned into a disappointing disaster.
Our experience at Felicia Suzanne’s was a huge disappointment. Our waiter apologized about the terrible service saying a group of 75 took over the courtyard. It was clear that the main restaurant was severely understaffed as a result.
I can only imagine the chaos in the kitchen. The food was mediocre. Our appetizer took one hour to arrive!
I expect much better from a restaurant of this caliber.
It was a quiet Saturday night, as the big Arkansas football game was on, which was great for us. Waiters and staff were very attentive. We both had the red snapper, which was moist and delicious. My husband had the gumbo as an appetizer, which he loved. I had the Fried Green Tomatoes, which were nice. The remoulade sauce the tomatoes were served with had a nice kick. This restaurant was recommended to us, by our hotel desk clerk, and we were very pleased with our experience!
It had been a while since when had eaten at FSR and we were concerned about some of the comments about the level of service. I can gladly say that we found the service to be excellent. We arrived early and were seated promptly. Our server was very attentive without being intrusive. The food was fantastic as usual. The deviled eggs are still the best anywhere. We will be back soon.
The food was excellent. The service was awful. At every stage, just awful. We had a reservation but couldn't find anyone to help us when we entered on time. The bartender was too busy and there didn't appear to be any hostess. Eventually, after about 20 minutes, the bartender seated us. Then no one came. For 30 minutes. We asked, but it wasn't anyone's table. Eventually someone did come to "cover that table" and took our order 50 minutes after we arrived at the restaurant. They apologized because the restaurant was "very busy". There were about 8 people sitting on the patio and one couple sitting inside the restaurant. There were at least 15 open tables . But that person wasn't our waiter so about 20 minutes later someone else asked to take our order because the first person never put the order in. I can't imagine what the service would have been like on a busy night.
Great food but prepare to give up hours on the experience if you go. In the end they gave us a discount on the meal but we, and the other diners who had similar experiences from our conversations that night (we had plenty of time to talk with people at other tables) just didn't think it was worth it
Worst service of any restaurant I've been to in Memphis.
Reservations at 6:30. Drink service was sporadic. Appetizers arrived after an hour and a half. Food arrived over two hours after ordered. Had to "ask" for bread three times before going to kitchen to try to get myself because request ignored by three different wait staff members. Food was good but definitely not worth the hassle and ineptitude of entire wait staff and management. This was also supposed to be an anniversary dinner shared with friends so FS pretty much ruined that as well. Hope you have better luck than we did.
After a week in Memphis we settled into Felicia Suzanne for our last meal in town. Everything about the restaurant was superb...gracious service, decor, and wonderful food that reflects traditional southern cooking with a modern flair. The caramelized onion tart was a highlight time be sure, as were the buttermilk fried okra.
It was our 20th wedding anniversary which I let them know ahead of time. When we arrived I asked for a table by the window and was told they were reserved and we couldn't sit there. We were then seated on top of another couple along a long wall. So much for our personal romantic anniversary dinner. We were served bread with a tiny square of olive oil. The amount inside was barely enough for 1/2 a piece of bread. I asked THREE TIMES for more oil. I then wanted to order my appetizer and was told I had to order everything at once. I explained we weren't in a hurry and didn't want to order it all at once. He said he didn't do it that way and said he could only take the entire order. Okay .... so now I'm feeling very frustrated as this was to be a special evening and I was nothing but frustrated to this point of the evening. My tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad came and it had four pinkie nail sized pieces of cheese on all the tomatoes. I just couldn't believe they thought the amount of cheese was appropriate for a $14.00 tomato and cheese salad. So I payed $14 for tomatoes.
The entrees came and were decent enough. We then ordered dessert and an after dinner drink. The drink came and twenty minutes later no dessert. I had enough and asked for the check and left. Terrible experience - way disappointed when this was our choice for our 20th Anniversary. Buyer beware. Oh and by the way the table I had WANTED to sit at was still vacant when we left 2.5 hours after our arrival.
We had reservations for 6:30. We never received our entrees. . We had only received our appetizer. Our original waiter took our order, then we never saw him at our table again. We did receive our appetizer. At 7:50, another waiter checked our orders after my husband mentioned that we had not received our entrees. This waiter came back out and said our entrees were not in the system. We told him to just forget it, we were leaving. This waiter offered to put our orders in the system immediately. We told him that we were leaving, and we just needed the check. He left and then came back and said our appetizer was free, and he offered to make our entrees. We told him no, that we had been there for an hour and a half and were not waiting anymore. This waiter was rude and had an attitude with us.
We had seen this spot in Memphis the night before, and were looking forward to outdoor dining. We were sat at a communal table, which was fine - the couple next to us was leaving shortly. The service, unfortunately, was extremely slow. I'm not blaming our waiter, per se, as he was very nice & apologetic, but they must've needed more staff. We saw him bar tending at the outdoor bar, in between trying to handle our table & others. Good arrived to table a bit cold, probably because he was unable to get it to us due to his other responsibilities. Beautiful spot, just wish service had been better....
Best restaurant in Memphis. The Chef blends
Classic southern items with a touch of New Orleans flare. Great patio area if you want to dine outside. Fish, Beef, and a touch of the unusual like quail, or duck, shrimp & grits , and many other specials are highlights of a great menu! Excellent wine list & a serving staff that seems very knowledgeable.
I'm sure a few restaurants are more pricy, but none have better food. And I'm not related to the owner, it's a restaurant that should be tried !
This was my second time to dine here and it did not dissapoint!!!! The service was very attentive, cocktails and wine excellent! Food was beautiful and delicious! Elegant atmosphere, quiet, beautiful bar also. I highly recommend it for a special occasaion or just a night out with friends. We will return more often!
We had a group of 10 for a birthday celebration. We had reservations at 7 and FSR had previously been slammed due to the James Taylor concert. They were quickly attempting to turn tables over but we didn't mind the wait as we were enjoying drinks at the bar and the staff was very accommodating. The food was amazing and we will definitely be going back again!
