Federal Fritter is a new gem in Rehoboth! We sampled all of the fritters and several sauces! We were delighted by all of them. We also enjoyed great sandwiches and a seasonal soup for lunch. Plus the bartender mixed up a yummy fresh Bloody Mary for my friend. The owner is delightful and welcoming. She sees to every detail personally!
Every expectation exceeded at this cozy, almost hidden cafe just a short walk from the Rehoboth boardwalk. Chef Todd Gray was in the kitchen the night we ordered his $35 steal -- four delicious courses -- and its $20 wine/beer pairing. Chef Gray is a culinary rock star who has learned from and led some of the nation's best restaurants -- including a 7-year stint as chef de cuisine at the legendary Galileo when it won James Beard best Mid-Atlantic restaurant honors. You must go to Federal Fritters.
Delightful dining. How do you create a casual yet fine dining experience for a multitude of palettes? Federal Fritter has successfully achieved that goal. On one hand the fritters are casual and fun and great to accompany happy hour. Or they can be a fun main dish. At the same time FF offers a quality fine dining experience in its salads and main courses. Harrison’s cocktails are a mixologists dream and the friendliness of the owners and staff further add to the attentive experience. Owners also founded and operate Equinox near the White House which was fun to learn. Highly recommend for a casual Rehobeth dining experience for the foodie looking for sophisticated cuisine.
Staff and food are amazing as always. Incredibly accommodating and create a special environment.
Unique space, fantastic menu and genuine service. Definitely a welcome addition to the Rehoboth dining scene.
We had a fabulous meal and enjoyed meeting the Chef and his wife. We highly recommend this wonderful experience!
Excellent food. Lovely owners.
Federal Fritter is awesome the food and service weee outstanding
I highly recommend going there ,you will enjoy the experience
Great food served by Harrison . We will be back , for sure!
and I thought they only served takeout fritters!!!what a joy to find out this is the most charming ,cozy bistro in town....a small menu but big enough.same with the wine list and it's priced right. the Energizer owner, Ellen is a delight. this is my go to place !!!!
What an amazing meal! We had a four course dinner paired with wine. Butternut squash soup the best I ever had. The next course was scallops, followed by duck That was repaired amazing. And then there was desert. Followed up by an espresso hazelnut martini. If you come to Rehobeth you definitely have to check out Federal Fritter
Friendly service and the fritters are tasty little snacks! The chicken salad sandwich was excellent, and the apple fritters were a perfect ending to our lunch.
This has been my second time at Federal Fritter, and both times I have been super impressed. The ambience, food + drink, and service are all impeccable. I would highly recommend anything on the menu! The owners are always around to ensure everything is running smoothly and all parties are enjoying their experience. A must-try in Rehoboth. I look forward to returning soon and visiting their sister restaurant in Washington, DC as well!
So much more than fritters, with lovely entrees and personalized attention from one of the owners.
food was outstanding. some of the best in rehoboth. fritters really good to share to start. very cozy space!
Always enjoyable. Ellen, Harrison and Chef Todd are outstanding. Fun environment. Delicious food.
This was our first time at this this fabulous restaurant and it didn't disappoint! Spectacular service and amazing food! We will definitely return when we are back in town! Looking forward to trying their chef tasting menu with wine pairings next time.
We were in Rehoboth for two weeks and spent our first and last night having dinner at Federal Fritter. We love it. Food is great. Try lots of fritters, as they are all unique and quite tasty. The entrees are also great. Wonderful addition to Rehoboth! We'll be returning on our next visit.
Very good food! Fritters great!
Fresh flowers on tables
Fast friendly service
Welcoming staff in charming, laid-back restaurant. We choose outdoor seating b/c of covid, so not as congenial an environment as inside the restaurant. Food is fun, well executed, and changes seasonally. We'll look forward to dining inside.
Federal Fritter is a new restaurant on Rehoboth Avenue and was a pleasant surprise. Family run business, with emphasis on customer satisfaction. Nice offering of fritters as a starter. I hope this business lasts here. I will return when in town again.
Wish I could give it six stars. One of the finest all-round meals and restaurant experiences I've had in a long time.
The entres were spectacularly good. We so enjoyed the dinner and the warm hospitality!
Excellent chef, menus developed daily based on what is fresh and of course, delectable fritters. Highly recommend Chef Todd and his lovely wife Ellen for an outstanding dining experience.
We wanted to try this restaurant after reading Tom Sietsema's review in the Washington Post. The food and service were great! We especially enjoyed starting things off with the amuse bouche delivered by chef Todd Gray: a delightful little cup of butternut squash soup garnished with green onion and toasted pecans. Next up were the signature fritters: we tried the crispy artichokes, the risotto w/parmesan, and corn varieties with different sauces, including Louisiana rémoulade and crème fraîche. Our entrees were equally delicious: the barbecued white shrimp; the grilled salmon; and the truffled mac 'n' cheese. We dined there on a weeknight in late September, and the chef, co-owner and their son (our server) were cheerfully attentive and made great recommendations. This is a great addition to Rehoboth Avenue!
Excellent dinner and dining experience - chef’s 4 course menu with wine pairings were superb. New best restaurant in Rehoboth Beach - check it out! Todd and Ellen have brought their DC vibe, style and dining caliber to the beach! Check out Equinox in DC too!
The food was amazing - the fritters and the dips were delish, and the mac and cheese was probably some of the best we’ve ever had. We also enjoyed the interesting, unique cocktails. The staff was warm and welcoming. Highly recommend.
Such a treat to rub shoulders and talk at length with the Chef. A really different dining experience
What a surprise. Fantastic food. We tried three different fritters, each unique and very tasty. The entrees -- swordfish and mac & cheese were both superb. The staff was very attentive and the chef/owner stopped by to welcome us to the restaurant. A great addition to the Rehoboth restaurant scene.
A unique concept. Very flavorful. Service was great. Real treat to meet the chef. Also chef at Equinox in DC.
Delicious meal while visiting the beach. Charming.
Was disappointing. Food was just okay but expensive. Portions were small and more of a tapas type to order multiple items to share. Narrow seating almost like sitting in a hallway. I did not care for this restaurant.
We went for an early dinner last night at Federal Fritters. I started with a delicious watermellon mule. We tried 2 of the fritters - oyster and corn, both of which we all agreed would be ordered again. There were so many items we wanted to try so we decided to order 3 entrees and share. We couldn't decide which we loved best - they were all delicious and memorable: a homemade pasta Seafood Cannelloni, a grilled salmon and a BBQd shrimp. We could have licked all plates! A luscious Chocolate Lava cake with roasted hazelnuts and a pine nut Nona cake were consumed quickly in spite of being full! Yum! Chef Todd, Ellen and son Harrison are a friendly and welcoming trio in this fairly new and hip Bistro!
We almost didn't try it because I wasn't sold on the Fritter concept but changed our mind after seeing a very positive Washington Post review. I am glad we did. The food was very good, it offered a cozy atmosphere in a beach town and the service was excellent. I don't know if this was planned but the owners and their son worked the floor that night. It was fun to talk to them. It was a little pricey by Rehoboth standards but very high quality. You get what you pay for.
The fritters were simply amazing- we started off with the corn, risotto, and Roman artichoke fritters. Truly a must-try. We followed with the seafood cannelloni and a that night special short rib. And finished with Apple fritters with ice cream. The cocktails change frequently- we had nice drinks & wines by the glass were really good as well. And it was a great value.
Much anticipated dinner - felt somewhat let down - portion size/$ too small/too high.
ALL staff BEYOND nice - VERY customer friendly/knowledgeable.
Prob WILL return, but more so for appetizer.
Federal Fritter is the top new restaurant in Rehoboth Beach in 2021! Outstanding!
Very good will go again
A fan of Equinox in DC, we were looking forward to trying out Federal Fritter and it did not disappoint. Food was very good, as was the DC focused mural, enjoyed seeing the family working the tables. Harrison is quite enthusiastic. The food was different, unique in a good way, strongly recommend. Because they are small, the menu and offerings were relatively limited but all were very good.
