Feast - Tucson Ratings and Reviews
A really fine restaurant with people who care about food. My husband had the lobster bread putting appetizer and a crab special. I had the shrimp appetizer and mushroom strudel appetizer. Everything was unique with carefully selected and prepared ingredients. I understand they change the menu every month. Cannot wait to go back!
We had heard good things about Feast and were eager to give it a try. We all were disappointed and underwhelmed. Among the four of us, we had a variety of apps, salads, and entrees. With the exception of the scallop tacos, which were quite good, and the mushrooms and brocolini, which was tasty, everything else ranged from bad to average. The chicken dish was not good. The special salads were pedestrian. The service was good. The atmosphere was very nice. Perhaps we hit Feast on a bad night, but we spent $200 (only one person drank one glass of wine) for a fairly light dinner for four. We won't be rushing to return.
We celebrated two family birthdays at Feast in December, and each experience offered different food due to timing of the monthly menu changes. Both were so delicious, amd in both cases all in our party were really pleased with their food. The vegetarians had substantial and tasty options beyohd cobbling together side or appetizers, and the meat eaters were very satisifed, too. Wine selection is one of the very best in town, if not the very best, and the wine team at Feast are genuinely knowledgeable so taking their recommendations has never gone wrong for us. If it sounds like Feast is our go-to place, that is because it is! I like the inventiveness brought to each dish, any my family likes great food even when they are not sure what “entrecoute” means, what is a “sea bream,” or even the mor common “confit.”
Feast hit it out of the park on my visit. The service was first rate from the moment we walked in, thru dinner and dessert and then in the wine shop on our way out. We were a party of 6 including one vegan and they handled all facets resulting in delicious meals. LOVED FEAST!!!!
Our dinner was outstanding, as usual. The cooking is creative and innovative - starting with some delicious, fresh bread. The duck was tender, and cooked a perfect medium rare, as ordered. The side dishes are unique. For a small, sweet finish, try the chocolate cookies - delicious! And if you drink wine, make sure you order a bottle, and ask Chef (Doug) for his recommendation. His knowledge and description of Feast's extensive and broad wine menu is outstanding - worth the price of admission! Better yet, the wine markup is modest - normally well less than 2 times the price in a liquor store. Much appreciated! Support this local Tucson gem!
The food at Feast is original and amazing! Always something new and creative. The wine list is extensive and eclectic with many moderately priced alternatives. Love the day time Happy Hour and the daily wine specials. Doug Levy is a great chef. Locally owned, independent, this is where the locals go for great food, service, cocktails, and wine! Go for lunch and try the really grilled cheese sandwich! Our favorite restaurant in Tucson by far!
Made a reservation for lunch on Christmas Eve when visiting Tucson. it was located near our hotel along the busy "Speedway Drive" with parking on site.. We arrived early for our lunch but they happily seated us. We were in the area near the door, bar and entrance to the kitchen. Our waitress was wonderful, happy to provide answers to our question and to check to see what drink my husband could pair with his pancakes.....They solved it and he loved the "special vermouth" suggested by the chef/owner. The buttermilk & sweet potato pancakes were light and a large plate which he finished. We were offered a side menu of small plates with a glass of wine pairing. I selected the shrimp dish and the wine suggested to go with the dish-wonderful- I also ordered the potato chip salad with pork belly (which I love) and it did not disappoint. We so enjoyed our lunch we decided to ask if we could have a reservation for dinner at 8 PM...they were happy to accommodate. For dinner, we were seated in the corner of the back seating area near the windows. Cozy and Quiet even though there was a couple at the next table we were happy. We ordered drinks - perfect manhattan and a dry martini- they came made perfectly. Our salad which we were sharing (they shared it in the kitchen) while we were still enjoying our cocktails. Our concern was that the salad came faster than we wanted. We asked our waitress if she could ask the staff not send out our main courses till we were finished with our drinks. She came back and said they had started but would hold off. Our order was the duck breast and the fish of the day - a sauteed sun beam fish with skin on. The chef made his way to our table before we ordered and told us about the special. We ordered our favorite Pinot Gri and our main dishes arrived....They were outstanding!! No Room For Dessert
We will return to this creative restaurant. If you like creative food, great drinks and wonderful service..don't miss this restaurant!
Wonderful food and service! Waitress pointed out upon arrival at 5:50 that happy hours specials would end in a few minutes and we could get a taste with our wine! The tastes were delicious ! Wonderful evening includes Visit and wine service from Doug the friendly owner and chef!
This is probably my favorite restaurant in Tucson. The food is creative, carefully crafted and then artistically placed on an appropriate plate. The portions are ample. The staff is friendly and attentive but not intrusive. I'm not a wine drinker but our friends really enjoyed the expertise and knowledge of the wine steward. For our budget this is special occasion restaurant, however, if I ever win the lottery you'll see me there weekly.
I went for my birthday with friends and we all enjoyed the unusual selections. The warm autumn veggie salad was marvelous, my friend liked her creamy zucchini soup and I loved the grilled cheese sandwich. I had the Bombay martini, so good. I also got the white cake with the candied kumquats (which I love anyway) and you put a candle in it. Festive.
Well, I have not reviewed Feast in some time, despite dining here about every 3-5 weeks. I just run out of superlatives to write about each & every visit. Our most recent experience was once again nothing short of fabulous. The new December menu has exceeded expectations once more. I began with the vinegar glazed shrimp followed by the Many Moods of Chicken (a leg confit, liver pate, stuffed breast & deviled egg - which doesn’t even get to their respective creative prep & accompaniments). My wife enjoyed the braised pork shoulder & kielbasa with crispy kale & warm potato salad. Phenomenal presentations. Wonderfully subtle flavors. All accompanied with a terrific Paul Autard red blend. We finished by sharing the chocolate hazelnut crunch bar. Yummm! See y’all in a few weeks.
Great spot in midtown Tucson. Lovely menu, fantastic cocktail selection, incredible, voluminous wine list. Chef/owner Doug Levy never disappoints. Wonderful , complete service; smooth, the team approach works well here. And, Chef goes around to all tables, to be certain all is as it should be. And, it is exactly as it should be!
This was my first time dining at Feast. Everyone was very attentive, but it was just too expensive for what I had. Tiny appetizer, tiny salad, overpriced wine, dessert was fair. To top it off, there was no parking and I had to park and walk in the dark to meet my friend. Not a good experience.
The appetizers were incredibly small (not worth it) and the main course we just OK. There was no bread served as we were famished. I got the ox tail pasta and there was really nothing special about this dish for paying over $22 for this dish. Our total bill for four adults was $225cand we left still hungry and unsatisfied. It seems like Feast is trying too hard to be up-scale.
The ambiance was nice and so was the wine on the positive.
The menu was so interesting as usual and the preparation and taste great. My only complaint is that nobody from management stepped in to stop someone from using the speaker part of her cell phone throughout the entire course of our meal. That meant we couldn't hear the excellent sound track that was playing but could hear detail by detail her trying to track down some package being delivered to her. If that hadn't gone on for 45 minutes it would have been the perfect lunch and a real treat to experience.
