Me and my hubby came here for brunch and the food had a great flavor. I ordered the baked apple crepes and they tasted really good but they were VERY cold. It was confusing to me because in my head i knew it was supposed to be a warm dish but since it still tasted good it wasn’t terrible. My hubby ordered the fried egg sandwich and it was fine. the cheese wasn’t melted into the bread like it should have been but again it still tasted good. we also ordered the spicy mac and cheese with chorizo breadcrumbs but once we were almost finished with the dish we realized that it didn’t come with the breadcrumbs (i did check the menu again to confirm it was missing) the server said that they most likely ran out of breadcrumbs but i feel that is something that should be mentioned to the guest. kinda disappointing when you order something and it’s missing a key component. it still tasted good, just like mac & cheese. another thing is that i got coffee and was never offered one single refill. the service was alright i wasn’t expecting it to be as laid back as it was so be prepared to see servers on their phone and the bar tenders drinking a beer behind the bar. But like i’ve said the food tasted good it was just lacking the important details. Won’t be back again.
Fantastic brunch options. Huge portions, but just so, so good. Cool vibe/area of town
We go there for their small shareable plates. They don’t do this anymore. Sorry won’t be returning. Food was meh.
Fabulous restaurant. Service was good except for when we had a spill and I had to get up and ask for napkins and they never cam - so I had to go grab them from an unoccupied table. Then - after food was served I asked for silverware since ours was taken for the spill. Then we needed napkins which I asked for - they never came so I got up and got them myself. They were out of club soda (for my scotch) so I ordered beer. They were out of iced tea so my daughter ordered Dr. Pepper - they were out of that too. Men’s bathroom had a plastic bag over the urinal and no paper towels to dry hands.
Very good restaurant - waiter was great. Hostess and sidekick ignored my requests for napkins and silverware.
These little issues were very bothersome and unnecessary.
Service was not good. Table was not ready with reservation. Takes too long and the waitress was forgetful. Food was ok/good depending on the dish.
We were moderately impressed. Expected more from the food, given the restaurant name! Flavor was ok, but really no umph in the presentation! Service could have been better, had to ask about the special. Our waitress didn’t seem excited about serving us, or mb doesn’t really care for her job.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The only part that was almost problematic was the waiter not being clear on what items had nuts, especially since I’m allergic. It worked out ok, but it would be important for others to know they use peanut oil.
Arrived Sunday with reservations for 1:15pm. Table was not ready. Glasses were dirty when brought out. Server got our order wrong. Egg sandwich was served with raw egg whites. Pancake battered sausage was raw on the inside. Crepes were blackened by a dirty grill (thought they were deep fried by appearance). Potatoes were gritty like they weren't washed before cooking. DJ was playing extremely explicit music with my family (including 3 kids under 10) sitting right in front of him. Overall very disappointed.
We reserved a table for indoor dining but when we arrived the weather was great and we asked if the could accommodate us outside, which they graciously did after a short wait. Everyone loved the very flavorful stroganoff meatballs & mushroom appetizer. We had a variety of steaks & lamb chops all superbly cooked & seasoned. The sides we ordered to share, cauliflower & mushrooms, did not disappoint! None of us had any room for dessert but the options looked good & we’ll get on next time. We all agreed we would not wait so long to return to Feast!
We're from N.C. & feast was recommended, made a 730p reservation earlier. Walked 10-15min from River walk & arrived 720p, place was half full. 5-10 min later ordered corn appetizer, Mac/cheese, lampchops & flank steak. 20-25min for app, then approx 50min later got my med steak (med rare inside & charred/overcooked out, evidently not rested even though not prepared properly) & mac. Wife got lamb 5min later (was decent). Returned my steak after letting mgr known that from the wait to service was unsatisfactory, asked for trout, little better than other entree but bland. Even Help reviews warned of slow service. I have 30yrs food service exp, foh & boh, and have had some subpar performances, but this was ridiculous, he did comp the trout but still. A table of 4 came in 5 min after us & were through before us?! Will not recommend but won't discourage either.
Waited 20 min for our drinks. Then just decided to get apps since the service way so slow
It was great! Quiet neighborhood just down the street from the downtown. Food excellent! I had the trout, the meatballs and jalapeño corn fritters were our appetizer. Worth the walk!
We reserved an outdoor table and were placed inside in the very back by the bathroom and kitchen. The manager never came out to speak to us and we didn’t even have menus for 45 minutes. After the entire restaurant cleared out we were offered a table change and allowed to order. The ribeye was good and our server was very nice but overall the management needs improvement.
Excellent food and service
The food, service, and value was fine. We miss the small plates and inventive creations of the old Feast, though. We also miss the happy hour!
Great food and excellent service. I cannot remember the server’s name, but he was in point. Great experience.
Everything we ate was good. Server gave us good recommendations on what to get.
Took 3 hours there. Food came after 2 hrs. The waiter was not checking up on us. Very slow
the cook seemed a bit off on sunday. the eggs were overcooked and the biscuits were hard.
We sat outside which was lovely. The food was good but not great. The portion size was generous. My drink was very tasty but our waiter lacked attentiveness and got our checks all messed up.
This is a whole new FEAST! I hadn't been in a while and expected the familiar tapas menu. When we sat down, we saw a new (and un-promoted) menu. It was traditional American, chef style! The menu is extremely focused 5 or 6 entrees. I'm a big fan of focus. It almost always precedes high-quality anything. FEAST didn't disappoint.
The appetizers were fun and interesting. The wine list was just right and the only problem with the main dishes was making a choice.
If you haven't been to FEAST in a while, give it a chance. The new menu is fantastic. The service is the friendliness we have all come to expect at FEAST. And "Ubering" down eliminated any parking hassles. It was a great evening.
We love it! We do our best to be there ever Sunday since we moved here!
We ate here for Sunday brunch. The food was very good. Everyone in my group of 4 loved what they ordered. We sat outside on the patio. The atmosphere of the patio is great. We could hear each other speaking easily and were not crowded at all. When I went indoors to use the bathroom, it seemed crowded and loud, so I recommend sitting outside if the weather is good. The patio overlooks S Alamo, a hip and pretty street. The neighborhood is beautiful and worth walking around in after the meal. The downside to Feast was the service. Our food came before our drinks, and we had to remind staff about our drinks several times. Some of our drinks were not what we ordered. Servers seemed to have no idea where to bring food and drinks. They tried to bring us other people's food and drinks multiple times, and constantly seemed to be wandering about with no idea where to bring orders. I like that they take reservations online, which made it easy to get a table without having to wait.
This was the worst experience I have ever had in San Antonio. Service was AWFUL! We barely saw our server Rene and had to track him down for the check. He then charged us the wrong table's bill and we had to wait a while longer to get it fixed.
The restaurant is super clean looking, the service was excellent, good music, good ambiance, everyone was just super polite. We were there for a bridal shower brunch and had such a great time. Also, had the best donuts I've ever had!
I’ve eaten two times at Feast. I have to say, I do not understand what the hub-bun is about. First, the menu listed on various apps was not accurate to the menu last night.
Second, the food was charred, over-salted, over-peppered. We started with the sourdough, mine was charred beyond recognition. Then we had the meatballs with stroganoff sauce. We The meatballs were tasty but lacking seasoning in the meat. The sauce was completely over-salted. I understand using various ingredients to break up a rich dish but pickles and dill were off-putting. I would think peppers would fit better. All I could taste on the salad was pepper. The lamb chops tied for the best item of the night with the peanut butter pie. The potatoes served with the lamb chops were coated in salt and pepper. The peanut butter pie was very tasty but needed chocolate not cocoa to break it up.
Third, the service was awful, slow, inaccurate, and ill-informed. The waiter was continually asked to bring out extra plates and silverware as we progressed through the meal. I had two glasses of water and was given the wrong wine for tasting. When i received the correct wine he never returned to check or ask if I wanted a glass. A friend at the table asked him which rosé was drier and he didn’t know. She also asked about the Chardonnay (buttery) and Sauvignon Blanc (citrusy)selections and he didn’t know those answers either. He did recommend some items on the menu when asked but only to list ingredients and say if the dish was tasty or not. When dessert arrives for the table you expect side plates and silverware to either come out ahead or with the dish neither happened we had to wait about five minutes and we finally got the attention on the hostess and she brought us plates and silverware to eat our dessert.
Fourth, the music is so loud you have to strain to understand your table mates, the waiter or anyone else not sitting next to you and talking into your ear.
Overall not a fun dining experience.
When we arrived the table was not set for 5 and we had to request additional place settings. Our waiter claimed there was some issue with wine glasses. We waited over 20 minutes before everyone at the table could finally drink the wine together. Our appetizer came out way before the wine did. But then one guest didn’t have his entree delivered until 15 minutes after everyone at the table was eating. No manager came to our table. I understand that issues happen but there just was no trying on the restaurant’s part to take responsibility for the issues throughout the dinner.
While the food was good, I do not like the new menu. The tapas fair was much more appealing. Not one entrée made go "I have to that". It was different than the tapas menu in which it was tough to make decisions.
We learned that they no longer service their tapas style menu. According to our waitress they had changed their menu 2 weeks ago. This was not an issue, but it'd be nice if the restaurant was up to date on revising their website. We had a reservation at 7:15 and we didn't get seated until 7:50. I understand it was Valentine's Day, but the restaurant should understand their limitations for reservations. We proceed to be sat and our waitress from the beginning was not on point. I'm not sure if she was tired, but she was negative from the beginning. My mother and fiancé ordered their meat with specifications and both came back well undercooked. Our waitress said "oh this always happens to me I have the worst luck." Let me give you some feedback as to why this happened: she never saw the food being delivered. We received our food from 2 different runners. It took her 5-10 minutes to come check on us each time a delivery of plates was scheduled to be sent. Two of us got our plates first that were fine, then the other 2 had issues. They could never report the issue. Either way, you must be on your A game when you have a special occasion. Our waitress delivered our bills and charged us for bread and an extra beer. The manager came to check us on when the food was wrong. He is very millennial and does not know how to engaged in customer errors. His offering was a free drink, which was fine, but really laughed off the errors. He had no presence nor apology. Mind you the receipt didn't reflect a comped drink but rather an EXTRA drink. Our waitress argued that we ordered bread 3 times. FACT: We never ordered bread. She brought us one order, then they refilled our bread and gave us 3 breads for 4 people. We needed 1 additional bread and asked. They brought us out an entire new bread order. We didn't ask for that so why would I want to be charged. IF I was going to be charged she should have provided a disclaimer. She also said we ordered three beers! I don't like scams!
Eating at Feast was okay. Nothing special but not bad. I will probably go back and try again sometime.
The service and the food were great! The neighborhood is super cute but don’t expect to be able to park easily. The decor is a little kitschy and strange but it seems to work for their aesthetic. My only issue is with the pricing vs portions. Everything was very tasty and good quality but I feel it was a bit overpriced.
We spent our Valentines at Feast and it did not disappoint! We shared the meatballs and corn fritters to start and they were both to die for! Then we both had the flank steak but subbed cottage fries for the side and that too was scrumptious! Their queen martini hit the spot as well! Service and ambiance were both impeccable! Can’t wait to go back! YUM!
I would still recommend anyone to eat at Feast because the food is quite delicious. I'm just a little disappointed that the menu totally changed. I loved the shareable tapas style menu. We went because we saw the menu in the website, only to get something completely different when we got there. Coming from North Central area, it isn't the closest drive. So I definitely would update your online presence.
We went fully ready to order mussels, brussel sprouts, fish tacos, and for pur egg allergy friends, the salad and beet dishes that were listed.
I understand the menu changes, but this was far from what we were expecting and our egg allergy friend was very limited in choices.
Feast was fun! The hostess was off-putting but our server was great. We went for Restaurant week and chose off that menu. I love my selections but my husband was disappointed in the entree (pork shoulder) and his cocktail (the King). I had the trout (DELICIOUS) and the Queen cocktail was amazing. As far as the value goes our bill was still tremendous even with the restaurant week specials. Good for a special occasion but for the $$ I would have appreciated more attention to flavor.
Great dining experience
It had been a while since we had been to Feast. We had forgotten how good the food & service were. No one in our party had a single complaint about any part of this experience. Every dish was excellent and the service was wonderful. We will be back soon!
Tried Feast on Wed. Of Restaurant Week. 1st course I had Grandmas Super Salad which was very good with light vinegrette dressing. My wife ordered “very good guacamole” which was bland at best even when mixing in the accompanying salsa. Basically it was nothing more than smashed avocado and sorry to say that we discussed openly that HEB guacamole off the shelf was so much better. Main course my wife and I both had Ancho Chile Pork Shoulder-meat was exceptionally tender-however this seemed to be due to the excessive amounts of fat. I understand that meat with some marbling of fat will be more tender however this was excessive as at the end of the course I had a pile of trimmed fat about one fifth the size of the original pork shoulder. (My first bite of that course was about a one inch square that was no meat just pure fat.). My daughter had the trout that was cooked perfectly although she did run into a couple of small bones which can occur with trout in the finest restaurants. We also ordered a side of “Simple MacN’Chz” which was the second best Mac and cheese I’ve had at a restaurant—best was at The Smith in midtown NYC. Deserts were very rich but good, warm chocolate chip bread pudding served hot in iron skillet and caramel chocolate torte was also rich but good. Service (or kitchen staff) was somewhat lacking as there was at least a 15 min wait between end of each course and delivery of the next. This occurred on a Wed. Night between 6:30-8:00pm when restaurant was half full.
It was great just took a little to long to take my order
Although the food was good, it was nothing impressive nor stand out from other Southern, comfort food my boyfriend and I have had in the past.
Went for restaurant week so not their standard menu. Got the course meal, the meatball appetizer was to die for. The salsa and guacamole were surprisingly original and tasteful. The pork shoulder was deliciously tender. Finally, the bread pudding was delightful.
