Faz Sunnyvale Ratings and Reviews
Great quet place, we could enjoy conversation with friends as well as food and drinks. We had a family style dinner, shared appetizers and entries. Salmon, lamb were perfect. Seafood plate is delisious. Service is perfect. Will definitely be back.
I have been to 3 Faz restaurants and before we ate this time I told my wife that I was surprised Faz' Yelp rating wasn't higher and I had enjoyed all the meals I had eaten at them. This was the meal that changed my mind. I ordered the sturgeon special and my wife had the bacon-wrapped scallops. I can't remember what my son ordered.
Sturgeon has the meaty texture of swordfish and tastes a bit like a very oily fish like mackerel. It needs a lot of acid and another flavor like tomato or garlic to enhance the oily quality. The plate I got for lunch had some uninteresting rice, a few plain steamed green beans and the sturgeon. Faz isn't cheap and the plate seemed like an expensive bust (which I am in favor of in other ways).
My wife said her bacon-wrapped scallops were just ok. How does that happen? We paid a lot of money for that lunch and the experience was not worth it.
I will say that I love the space. The room is very cool and they have a nice patio. They don't allow dogs on the patio which is a big negative for me and my Labradors.
We had s nice Easter brunch at Faz. The variety of food was pretty limited, but what they did have was very good. It was nice that you could also order a pizza for your table. The service we received was absolutely amazing. Our waiter and the other servers were very attentive.
Food was okay. Waiter service was good. However when I arrived stood for 10 minutes waiting to be seated and no one came. There was no sign saying to seat yourself so I finally walked in and asked the bartender if I could grab a table. Overall nothing special. More energy at a sizzler.
The food is tasteless and it's way too pricey for what you get. Went with high expectations because of the 4.5 rating but was disappointed. The service is good but the food was not. Steak was tough with not a lot of flavor, rice a bit cold and hard, color ok but flavorless. Definitely would not go back because the food is not good and I do not want to pay for poor quality.
While the food and service are good, if you are using the Dining Out card with the 1 free meal of lesser value formula, for whatever reason, it doesn't seem to transfer or compute when dining at Faz. The overall costs are just a few dollars less than if you paid for two meals and added a standard tip.
I am usually a fan of Faz, however I was very disappointed with the food this time around. I ordered the salmon special with lentil basmati rice and green beans. The salmon had an avocado sauce, but everything was very bland. The lentil basmati rice was a substitution I made because I love eating it when it comes with the scallops I normally order, however, this time it also lacked flavor. The green beans were very overcooked. For an entree that was just shy of $30, it wasn't worth the price, and nothing was memorable.
Service was fine, but nothing special in any way.
I'm sad to say that I will probably not be back for a long time due to this disappointing experience.
It is not a very busy place for a Saturday evening. It appeared to have one server who also was bartender -
orders of starter and salad and entree's came out in an awkward timing. my wife had a salad but my entrée came out well before her entrée - my have been a misunderstanding with the server.
food great tasting - nice presentation -
The restaurant was extremely busy. Not sure why. The restaurant is very noisy, the food is mediocre and the service unacceptable. The service staff was unfriendly, not very helpful and served our pizza before our salads. Would definitely not recommend and will not be returning.
