Faz Sunnyvale Ratings and Reviews
I wasn't expecting any great about this place based on the reviews, but I was quite surprised how good the food and service was. Must get: braised chicken with saffron barberries rice, Mediterranean platter and calamari. Even the oil/vinegar dip for the bread was delicious! The Chicken was a quarter chicken leg and was very juicy. Fluffy saffron rice with barberries was a great combination. First time trying a yogurt soda and that was NOT good!
our waitress was very attentive and polite. However she lacked the common sense of when to interrupt and when not. If two people are in a conversation.. the waiter/waitress needs to understand and give them the space... and come back at a better moment to interrupt. simple!
Food is always consistently good there and its a busy spot at lunchtime. However, service while normally good was terrible last week. We waited 40 minutes on a salad. The table next to us sat down after us and ordered hot meals and were served and finished before us. When notifying our waitress after half an hour wait, she said the chef was busy! At no time did she come by to check on us. Very disappointing.
We checked in at 12 ordered at 12:10 and waited almost an hour to be served while others who came significantly after us were eating. And we got our food only because we complained forcefully; otherwise who knows when we'd be served. They tried to make up for it by giving us free desserts. But there's no reason for such poor waitering.
Saturday, 7PM reservation. Food and service excellent. Was a wedding party with loud DJ music in a neighboring room starting ~7:30. We complained to our server, she sent over the managers. Were very apologetic and immediately went close the doors to block the sound. People from wedding party, sitting in the main room, would then open them to hear the music. That happened a few times. Managers had earlier offered to comp part of our meal, which we declined since all the dinners were great, so they comped us a delicious Persian dessert similar to tiramisu. Since the restaurant is attached to the Sheraton, any wedding party is going to take priority because of the large amount of money involved. We've never had problems with Sunday dinner.
This is a beautifully designed restaurant with live piano music. The Mediterranean food is delicious, especially the Kabob selections. I ordered the Barg Kabob (Certified Angus Beef Marinated & Mesquite Roasted) and was perfectly cooked medium-rare. For appetizers, my wife and I liked the Combination Platter (Sashimi Style Ahi Tuna, Smoked Salmon, Marinated & Grilled Shrimp and Salmon Caviar). The waiting staff are friendly.
The service at the restaurant was really below expectations. The server brought different wine than we actually ordered, which we only discovered at the end after seeing the bill. The food was bland and there was not much flavor to it. We've eaten at several Greek Restaurants before, but this one was totally below the mark.
Noise was almost unbearable inside, so we moved out to the patio. Seems to be a "hot spot" for lunch, at least it was super crowded when I was there. Food was good, but outdoor tables were not set up properly. Lack of adequate flatware (no spoons), and poor attention to empty water glasses and drinks. Waiters also couldn't seem to figure out which food went to which table. I think they were probably unprepared to have so many diners sitting outside.
Food was good, waiter tried, but seemed to lack training. We overlooked that. We were a party of 12 and ordered four bottles of wine throughout the meal, which we had to remind the waiter to bring. The bill charged us for five bottles. The waiter insisted that was correct, and we finally asked for manager. The manager then insisted we had six bottles of wine. He was insulting, argumentative and unprofessional. He finally agreed to adjust the bill and told us he would dock the waiter. Very uncomfortable ending over a bottle of wine, after we had spent several hundred dollars.
WE ATTEND FAZ AT LEAST 3 TO 4 TIME A MONTH FOR LUNCH AS A GROUP. OUR ORDERS MOSTLY CONSIST OF YOUR CHICKEN OR BEEF ROLLED KABOB. EVERYTIME WE HAVE ATTENDED THE KABOB'S ARE OUTSTANDING. THAT'S WHY WE KEEP COMING FOR LUNCH. ON MONDAY THIS WEEK WE ATTENDED AS A PARTY OF 6 AND ORDERED BOTH THE CHICKEN AND BEEF KABOB. THIS TIME WE ALL COMMENTED HOW THE CHICKEN KABOB WAS DRY AND HAD NO FLAVOR. THAT WAS VERY DISSAPOINTING FOR US. FOUR OF US ORDERED THAT AND JUST THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT. THE BEEF KABOB WAS GREAT. BRIAN DICKEY.
Faz offers a menu that sounds delicious, however once I tried the food, I wondered where the flavor was. Whether it was the salad dressing, curry cream sauce or saffron basmanti rice, flavor was missing in several dishes.
Its also not mentioned that this restaurant is attached to the Sherton Hotel (i only mention this because most restaurants attached to hotels are rarely good), overall service was mediocre and the food was less than desirable.
The hostess wasn't too great. Sat my 85 year old mother-in-law next to the door to the patio that was constantly being opened and closed and she froze. I had to search out the hostess & ask her to move us and she promptly sat us next to another door to the patio! Luckily it wasn't used as much, but was still used. My mother-in-law never took her coat off as a result. This dampered the experience. I noticed the hostess sat a party of 10 people at a table for 9 people. Just escorts them in and leaves before even seated--same thing she did to us.) I heard that party complaining about having a reservation for 10 and being seated at a table for 9!! Your hostess needs more training.
Horrible experience. We were seated right and ignored for about 15 minutes. When our waitress finally came, I ordered the chicken kabob salad. The food arrived a little later and we realize we had no utensils or napkins. I asked for utensils the guy who dropped off our food for utensils and he looked at me kind of upset, nodded and walked away. 5 minutes passes...still no utensils. I flagged down the hostess and asked. I then realized I got chicken kabob with rice...not the salad. But I was too annoyed to even ask them to correct it. The hostess finally brings our utensils and we were able to eat. By the way, throughout the entire time, our original waitress never even came to check on us.
It was a very disappointed and embarassing on Monday when I took my client there for a lunch appointment. Not sure if I'm just in bad luck. I'm a frequent patron and I don't recall ever receive such service.
Our order came in much later than the 2 tables next to us. We ordered before they were seated but our food came after theirs. In fact, the guy next to me had the same order as mine, a veggie kabob. Then we ordered cappucino tool more than 15 minutes and I'd to ask someone to track my order. The coffee finally came but my client needed to leave. :-(
We went to the Easter Brunch and it was incredibly reasonably priced compared to comparable brunches at just $35 per person. The food was fantastic, there was lots of it, and the staff kept it coming. Nothing was every empty. I highly recommend this place for buffet brunches.
