Faz Pleasanton Ratings and Reviews
Had $20 open table credit but restaurant would not allow Passport Dining Card. I thought both were treated 'same as cash' for restaurant, but evidently NOT...Could not apply Open Table award along with Passport...Bummer!...
Next Open Table opportunity will not be at FAZ
Only 3 other tables occupied and we had to wait interminably long to get our order taken and everything we asked (more than once) for delivered. Meals took half an hour to come out when the kitchen should have had nothing to do. Waiter was obviously distracted by too many other responsibilities and we were not the priority.
When we first booked, we didn't know it was in a hotel... pleasant surprise! That meant a large amount of seating, and servers spaced people out so that we all had quiet evenings. EXCELLENT service, some of the friendliest servers we've ever had. Enjoyed hearing about specials and ingredients -- they were very knowledgeable about all the dishes & the cocktails. Exciting and eclectic menu. We will definitely return here.
I have eaten at Faz in Sunnyvale several times and loved the food - saffron rice, lamb shanks etc. This week, I met for a business lunch and was rather disappointed. The flat bread was microwaved - it arrived hot and soon turned into cardboard type bread. I ordered a Fatoush Salad with a Lamb Tenderloin brochette. The lamb was perfectly cooked. But both salad and lamb were really plain. Bland.
So, it was an okay dining experience. The service was attentive, and quick (we asked them to keep us on schedule). The food was uninteresting.
We had a party of seven and ordered food for about 12. Generally, food quality was nothing spectacular. Some of the dishes were way too salty, especially the shish kebab. Pizzas are definitely not worth it. My son said it stated a lot like his school cafeteria pizza. Of the 12 dishes, the following were on the better side: calamari, linguine con vongole, chicken tikka marsala. Service was pretty slow even though there were only 5 tables of customers. Will not go back.
Tony and the staff at Faz were great! We had a business lunch reservation for 12 people and we were set up in the semi private room with our appetizers beautifully spread on the table waiting for us when we arrived. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the service overall was outstanding.
Fax was pleasant enough restaurant. Very quiet on a Sunday evening, which was nice. My chicken kabob was very tasty and more than I could eat......I took the rest home. My wife's chicken dish had too much hot spice in it to finish the meal. Overall, a decent place to eat and moderately priced.
We went there after our daughter's graduation! The service was excellent, the people were very friendly and attentive, and the food was great. My husband loved the ambiance. He said that this would be one of our "go to" restaurants when we want to go somewhere nice. Our waiter acknowledged our daughter's graduation, and the Maiter D remembered that my sister, cousin and I had been there before, even though it was several months ago! Amazing! I can't think of one complaint!
We had a bad experience at Faz. Went for lunch/brunch. Only one other table of guests, yet the service was terrible. We waited at least 20 minutes for our server to take our order. Quality of food and presentation were both marginal. The beef kebab was extremely dry. Eggs Benedict was over cooked and hollandaise sauce was vinegary and sour. We won't be returning.
This restaurant was perfect for mother's day. We avoided the crazy holiday crowds and found a gem of a place that my parents really enjoyed. White linen, but not crazy fancy--perfect for us. My mom really enjoyed her Fettuccini Marco Polo and my dad raved about the Slow Braised Lamb Shank. He said it was the 'best lamb I've ever had!'
We had a great time at this brunch for Father's Day last year, so my mom picked Faz for Mother's Day brunch. This time was such a disappointment. The brunch was totally different and, honestly, quite terrible.
They got rid of the omelette station. The food was pretty flavorless. The Macaroni and Cheese--which was AMAZING last year--was cold and bland. The Eggs Benedict were way too salty and way over-spiced. The french toast was alright and the pizza was alright--but not worth $35 or however much the per person price was (which didn't include mimosas). I could have made a WAY better brunch than this for like.... $40 total. I have been to many brunches, and I can honestly say this one was the worst one I've ever been to.
Service extremely slow. Specifically told them during the reservation it was a business lunch for two. We were taken to a very intimate table for two, surrounded by loud people, while many larger tables were open. Too intimate for business, with no room for notepads. We switched tables and it was ok, but it was unnecessarily awkward at the beginning. Service was very slow. We were there for 1.5 hours and didn't get sodas until 30 mins in, food nearly an hour. We had to ask for boxes, ask for the check, and make it be known we were very done and needed to leave. Food was good, but a side note. I wouldn't come back for lunch, especially for business.
This showed up on a map search, and the description sounded interesting, so I tried it for grabbing dinner with my daughter. Turns out, it's actually the hotel restaurant for the Hilton hotel, but it tries hard to not let that on from the webpage/outside.
Inside, there are unused breakfast serving dishes on a table along the edge of the dining hall, hotel foot traffic into the inside courtyard, and other such mainstays of hotel restaurants.
The food tasted okay, and the portions were large, but the service was slow even though it wasn't even half full (on a Friday night!) and a dish ordered without baby spinach still arrived with the baby spinach leaves in. After a long wait, it was easier to pick it out than send it back.
It's several notches better than going hungry, and probably the right balance between convenient and fine if you're staying at the Hilton, but it's not worth going out of your way for.
