Excellent food and bread
Glad to meet Mr Faz again over the past 25-30 year in SF
Nice atmosphere, good food and good value for the money. Nice outdoor area.
My party of four sat outside on a beautiful, warm Saturday evening. We enjoyed the redwood trees and lighting. There was a band playing on the Danville Green that was a bit loud, but the music was good.
I had the lamb shank. It was delicious, although had quite a bit of fat I trimmed off. But, that’s the nature of that cut. The hubby had pot roast, loved it. The others had sword steak and raviolis....we all cleaned our plates.
Fax, Danville is always great. We enjoy dining in the outside patio area - very relaxing.
Chris our waiter really helped add to the enjoyment of our dinner celebration at Faz. This was a 50th anniversary and the wedding being celebrated there juxtaposed with our celebration was great. My rack of lamb was perfect!
Maitre Di and waiter were very nice but the food: Lamb Shank and Pomerganate Chicken were mediocre compared to previous visits.
My husband and 95 year-old mother treated me to this lovely evening on my birthday. The outside temperature was still triple-digits at 6 pm when we arrived so we opted for indoor dining. We were seated right next to the full-length windows so had the best of both worlds. (That outdoor patio is gorgeous.) Everything was lovely, quiet and beautiful ambience and attentive service, with delicious food. Will definitely return on a cooler evening. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Great food, great ambiance and great service. The outdoor setting is very charming.
We hadn't been to Faz in quite some time and were very pleasantly surprised. The ambiance, eating outside by the waterfall, was exceptional. We went with another couple and we both really enjoyed our meals. I would highly recommend Faz and especially if you are celebrating a special occasion.
All of the food received was mediocre. The only thing that saved my birthday night was the beautiful patio setting.
Great garlicky sauce on the table for the flatbread. My husband and I ordered a Caesar salad. I asked the waiter, "Will the salad dressing be authentic? You know, made with anchovies, etc.?" He said, "Of course. It's a Caesar." We ordered the salad, to be split between us. I said, "No croutons on my half." When the salad arrived, the salad dressing was as bland as water. I said to the new waiter, "There are no anchovies in this dressing. It is not authentic." She said, "No, the dressing is not made with anchovies. You have to ask for them on the side." My husband's half had no croutons (and it was supposed to have had). I wound up using their flatbread garlic sauce on top of my salad. I ordered the grilled salmon, one of the menu specials for the evening. It came with "vegetables." I said to our waiter, "May I get asparagus instead of 'vegetables'?" He said, "There is no asparagus in the kitchen." I said, "How can there not be any asparagus in the kitchen if my husband's special, the Ono, comes with asparagus? It says so right here on the menu." He said, "Sorry, sorry, we must have it. Okay, I will get you asparagus." My husband ordered the Ono, which was supposed to arrive with asparagus, according to the menu. There was no asparagus on his plate (but there was broccolini) and he said his Ono was dry and overcooked. The corn and pineapple gremolata that came with the Ono did not taste like there was any pineapple in it whatsoever. They were having "open mic" night in their bar and it was very distracting. The only thing good about the evening was the manager of the restaurant. We weren't planning on going back again, but MAYBE, because of him, we'll give it another try.
I expected to have better services according to previous reviews. Some meals tasted good, but others were overcooked and even burned. I didn’t get any special services although I mentioned in my online reservation that it was birthday party. We used to get very good services from Faz restaurants, but not anymore.
Faz has a very nice atmosphere especially with the outdoor seating. The night we went the restaurant was quiet and not very busy. My only real complaint was the Caesar salad. I've had it there before but this time the presentation was different as if someone just grabbed a handful of romaine and tossed it on a plate with 1 crouton. Not sure what change in presentation. For the price of lettuce and a crouton I would have thought a little more thought would have taken place for presentation. Would I go back, yes, I like the place. Next time might make a determination whether I recommend or go back.
The food was excellent. We sat outdoors, therefore the ambience is great. We always feel we get excellent value at Faz. The service was not as good as usual but adequate. Thanks for a good evening.
Excellent Mediterranean food. Kebobs are great. other menu items are always fresh with good flavors. Beautiful dining area looking towards redwood trees in outdoor courtyard. Makes for a very enjoyable dinner.
Food is surprisingly amazing here. Simple, classic recipes, but prepared very well and -- hallelujah -- SEASONED correctly -- THANK YOU, Faz, for that. My friend ordered a lamb dish, which he found super tasty and moist, and he loved the sides too, and I had the special, which was grilled sturgeon with saffron scallion sauce and extra steamed veggies (no potatoes). The fish was perfectly cooked, moist and lovely, the sauce was freaking AMAZING, and the veggies were properly cooked and seasoned well.
We ordered the chocolate raspberry cake for dessert, but unfortunately that was a miss. Too much raspberry overwhelmed the chocolate, the dish was too sweet, and it definitely did not taste fresh -- I would guess it was refrigerated or frozen and then thawed. We will definitely skip dessert next time.
We both ordered a glass of the Hess cab, which is a solid choice (one that I have had before), however it was served a bit closer to room temperature than I would have liked.
The service was ok. I definitely found it a little strange that in addition to making a note on my reservation, and calling in advance to make sure they would allow my dog on the patio (and was told yes), that I then had trouble when I arrived with him -- the host had to bring his manager out to OK it. Also, the service was a bit slow throughout the meal, despite it being very quiet and not busy at all. On the plus side, they were kind enough to turn the heating lamp on for us, which was appreciated!
However, the food was so good that I am sure we will be back. And the outdoor patio is very lovely on a summer night!
Outstanding, as always!
Best Lamb & Shish Kabob in the area. Great value.
Maher and the staff are consistently excellent and accommodating. The food is always fabulous.
The food was spoiled. My father got sick after he ate.
Everything went off without any problems --- guests enjoyed both food and ambience
Do not eat late in the day of buffet-food was sitting in steam trays for hours and not fresh
Ran out of prime rib and offered tri tip, they did prepare a fresh steak and asparagus platter to our table and that was very good. No hummus available. Very disappointing. Mother's Day buffet was good last year
The food was very under seasoned and we didn’t enjoy it at all. Desserts were boring. Cocktails were good and ambiance was good. Service was also good.
Love faz. Very good parking. No wait. Food is average not bad. Love the dessert.
We always enjoy high quality entrees and have great service from Raul.
VERY slow and inattentive service. We also found the room extremely hot, but when we mentioned it to the waiter, he just shrugged and muttered something - no offer to move us to a different table, or even to the patio, although there were a multitude of empty tables available.
Faz has one of the nicest outdoor seating areas anywhere in Northern California -- a grove a large mature coastal redwood trees. We were promptly seated and drinks orders were taken. My wife and I shared pomegranate chicken, one of our favorites at Faz. Our friends each had a large salad. The food was delicious and the service great and the setting perfect.
Outstanding as always!
Over charged on bill, slow service, waiting for refund
One of the best martinis I've ever had smooth my meal was delicious.
Five of us dined at Faz on a Tuesday evening. It was a quiet night - just a few other groups of diners - but the service was friendly and leisurely. Just what we wanted for our get-together. We were well taken care of by the waiter and didn't feel rushed.
The food was delicious. Not too big of a menu, which leaves me confident that ingredients are fresh. My one criticism might be that the menu was light on vegetarian options.
The indoor and outdoor dining areas are beautiful. The redwood trees around the outdoor patio, lit by strings of lights, are so pretty. I would have a wedding there! There's even plenty of parking.
Service good. Steak kabob overcooked and tasteless. Average flavor from all dishes.
Once again, Faz was a wonderful experience. This restaurant is fast becoming one of my favorites. The food is outstanding, the service is attentive, intelligent and friendly. You truly feel like you're a family member by the warm welcome and personal attention. Additionally, the setting for the Danville restaurant is gorgeous. The open courtyard with the twinkling lights, waterfall in the background and towering redwoods make for an enchanting setting. I plan to go back often!
Everything was over cooked. Best part of meal was the company.
We went for the Mother's Day Brunch. We arrived on time and were seated right away. We were seated near the waterfall. We were brought water out right away. We noticed other tables getting served that were seated after us, at least 4 tables. It was a buffet so we served ourselves. My husband stayed at the table in case the server arrived, they didn't. My husband served himself at the buffet and still no server. This is going on 20 minutes when other new tables continue to get served. I finally went to the bar to get a drink. They tried to get me to go sit and wait for a server, luckily, the bartender gave me a Mimosa. Someone finally came to our table but appeared to be a busboy instead of a server. He did bring coffee for my husband, I had to go hunt him down for a 2nd coffee. Love the food, but they really need to step up their service.
The patio at Faz is amazing. Sitting under the redwoods with the babbling fountain is an oasis of calm. Oh, and the food is really good too!
The staff there was very attentive and accommodating. The Buffet food was excellent and kept at the right temperature. Very good restaurant.
Nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with Faz Danville...starting with its own parking lot; so wasting time looking to store the car is not needed. And the patio with its fountain and live Redwoods was a quiet restful place to enjoy our meals. The party of five had 3 lamb shanks, chicken kabob, and veal. All were cooked to a T: shanks were moist and fork tender, chicken dry (the way the eater likes it), and the veal was tasty. The drinks came quickly and were mixed with the best of everything. Then desert...OMG, bombas, tall mounds of ice cream slathered in sweet sauces. And the mocha coffee was to perfection. The bill, including drinks and deserts, averaged $60 per person; not cheap but well worth it. Highly recommended...like Arnold has been quoted, "I'll be back."
Always enjoy eating here. Food is great, service is good and beautiful dining on the deck outside! One of Danville’s best.
Rack of lamb is huge and well presented. Fresh cooked flat bread from the brick oven with Mezze platter is a must try. Great Deck and plenty of parking. Meher and Nellie make us feel welcome. One of our favorites.
