Fayuca Ratings and Reviews
We wanted to take my mom out for her birthday, somewhere new. My mother is Italian so we knew flavour would be important. The food was amazing...we ordered 5 shared dishes and then our own main (I don’t like sharing everything 😉). We didn’t leave a crumb on any of the dishes...and we laughed because we thought if we were in a more private area of the restaurant we would have licked our plates!!! The flavours were incredible but not overpowering so we could really taste the delicious freshness of the food. My mom loved Fayuca and we will definitely be coming back. I would also like to mention that the service was great and we were not rushed out of there!
Thank you Martine for the beautiful desserts! What a lovely, thoughtful surprise!!!
Really enjoyed Fayuka both times I've been. The food is unique and delicious. I love the cauliflower which is grilled and delicious. The guacamole is served with pumpkin seeds and crumbled feta, and I think it is the best in the city. The beef was melt in your mouth tender. All in all, Fayuka is a great addition to the food scene in Vancity
Food was good and inventive - definitely not your typical Mexican restaurant. Cocktails were average (I've had much better margaritas elsewhere) and overpriced. Service was poor. Probably waited over 20 minutes after being seated just to be acknowledged by the server - and it was not overly busy in the restaurant.
Three of us visited Fayuca on a rainy Tuesday evening in February. It was just the way to cap a day of adventure in Yaletown and around the False Creek area. The food became part of that adventure! The theme is Baja California but it's not your typical Mexican fare. The guacamole with crispy sunchokes was chunky and delicious. I could have eaten that all night. The grilled cactus and the red rice in green almond sauce were tasty vegetarian options, the Mexican seafood stew and an oxtail pasta interesting for seafood lovers and carnivores alike. I could imagine this type of cuisine in a refined local restaurant far from the zona turistica. Thanks, we had a wonderful meal.
Slightly disappointing. We were there for dine out and the portions were quite small. We ordered an additional appetizer and were still hungry after the meal. The cocktails were amazing and the tomatillo salsa was great as well. The mains were so tiny and didn't have much protein, maybe two bites. Very strange. It was a fun atmosphere though. The service was pretty bad.
The cocktails were fantastic, the food was good. Service was really bad - we were seated (reserved) at the bar - we were handed off to someone that semi-ignored us. At one point, neither of us had water and our cocktails were empty. Nonetheless, the restaurant ambiance is really nice. The poor service experience just left a bad taste, so not sure we would return because of that.
Amazing food. Really flavorful. Lots of options if you don’t eat meat but lots of choices for everyone’s taste. I went to Pujol in Mexico City (it has a Michelin Star and features on Chefs Table in Netflix) - well Fayuca’s roasted cauliflower is way nicer than Pujol’s!
I ordered the pasta dish which turned out to be barely edible Lipton soup noodles which were poorly flavoured - $15!!! My friend did far better with the chicken dish. The only saving grace for my meal was that it was small, probably half the size of my friend's.
i'd sent my grown kids here as a Xmas gift, a chance for all three of them & their partners to have a night out together. They had a great experience.
I thought I'd try....never again.
I found the food bland ..nothing exceptional about the taste. Very disappointing as it was a business meeting and I had read good reviews but ended up feeling embarrassed. The waiter was also not well informed about what kind of fish was being served but he did go and check.
I would actually recommend to anyone that I know to NOT go here. A nice setting does not make up for somewhat poor service and very unappealing food. My companion was also unimpressed. Not a good thing way to impress a business contact.
After hearing many good reviews, I decided to try it out for a business lunch with a client (in town from LA), and it was a perfect choice! Food was delicious, and the service was very good - the staff are really passionate about their dishes, and offered some great light lunch recommendations. The 2 person booth seating was super cute and and I'll definitely be back again in to try the delicious looking evening menu! Yum.
Terrible service on New Years eve. we've been to this restaurant before (3 other times) this time we were seated in this corner where no one really could see us. Waiter does not introduce himself - as the food arrived and throughout the meal he did not once ask how the food was. Its a few minutes before midnight and I notice that the staff is handing out champagne to those still left in the restaurant (about 15-20 people) and to all the cooks and wait staff working received a glass but we don't get a glass of champagne. Now we had just spent $300.00 on dinner and drinks. It would have been nice if the staff made sure EVERYONE in the restaurant got a glass of champagne. This is the second time we've had terrible service at this restaurant.
I love this restaurant! One of my favorite Vancouver restaurants! Only ONE improvement needs to be made: Do not make the restaurant much darker after dark. We all need to be able to read the menu, see the food/drink and able to see other people's faces too. Please make it more accessible for anyone with either night blinds or low vision too. Much thanks! :)
