Fayette Street Grille Ratings and Reviews
Service was slow, although the two servers were clearly working hard. Food was inconsistent - some dishes (arctic char special) were great, others not so much (baked tavern egg was too salty due to abundance of prosciutto, while the risotto that came with the bass was incredibly bland). Biggest disappointment was one of the two desserts - "bourbon apple tarte." Not a tarte at all! A turnover (tasted like Pepperidge Farm out of the freezer) with a few minced apples inside the soggy puff pastry, swimming in applesauce. There was a lot of it, but that wasn't a selling point.
We consider ourselves "foodies" and this is one of our "go to" places. Our waitress was excellent as are all the others. I had the escargot which was very flavorful. The others had salads, which they all enjoyed. My entre (veal loin chop) was a bit overcooked and was sent back but returned immediately and more to my liking. Everyone in our group (all 4) were very pleased with their meal. It is a bit noisy but they always do a very good job. I give it high marks!
New Years Eve menu was good and our waitress was superb. But we were seated too close to the door and subject to 12 people standing above us watching us eat and hoping for a table sooner....even when it wasn't our table that they were reserved for. I'll return to FGS but never again on NYE.
We have eaten here many times and it’s the first time we have been disappointed. I had reservations for over a month but we still had a significant wait (and there is no place to wait!).
Food was good but it took a really long time to get it.
Reservation was at 7 and we didn’t leave till almost 10:30.
This was not their best effort. Food was very under seasoned and cold when it came to the table. The printed menu offerings had little resemblance to what came to the table . Service was extremely slow. Have been here many times and had excellent meals. On this night leftovers at home would have been better
Went on Friday 11/10. The special appetizer of crab cake was delicious. The salad a friend ordered looked great. And my husband's escargot was ok. My scallops , the dinner special, were great. But my husband ordered the steak with the $3 Up charge, and it was very chewy. The desserts were very good. We have been here many times and would definitely go back again.
First dining experience here under the new management. So happy they kept some delicious favorites: the hot crab dip, seared duck, fish entrée options and bread pudding dessert. Noise level is the same…high. But as one who has dined there with a large group and also been rather loud I can completely understand how it happens and expect it.
Reserve your tape NOW!! This is a hidden gem! This was our first time going but we will be back. I had the lamb and it fell off the bone. My husband had the sea bass and it had a lemon zest zing to it. Both had risotto. Generous portions. Excellent food. We will be back!!
The food was delicious with many tasty choices on their fixed price menu.I started with escargot in a delicious spinach tomato butter sauce. My husband had the sausage and cheese stuffed onion..We both ordered the duck breast with cranberry trimmings served with sweet potatoes and green beans. The duck breast was perfectly done.I appreciated that the bread was warm and the ramekin butter was room temp instead of cold and hard to spread as it often is.We finished off with cheescake for me and an apple tart for my husband. All in all a great meal with a wonderful waitress at a fair price.
