Fattoria E Mare

Everyone is very friendly. From the owner who’s present to the waitstaff and bartenders. Food selection is minimal. The pasta is very over priced for what you get. Nothing on our table wow’d us. Only steak selection was a $85 New York. Wood fired pizza was the best and tastiest dinner selection.
A round of drinks for 8 people was over $100 at the bar.
Restaurant was VERY loud with a party on the patio.
Probably won’t return. Lots of other over priced restaurants with better food selections in the area.
We were so put off by this place that once we received our drinks, which were not good. we took a few sips and asked for the check and left. The place is run down and they charge you $5 to park? This was our first time out since having our baby and we were really disappointed. Cheap wine list and just overall not a place I would recommend. Go over to broadway around the corner and choose a restaurant there. That’s what we ended up doing.
The experience at the restaurant is very different from what was expected. It's an Italian restaurant that takes up a large piece of the expensive Burlingame real estate with a price range and menu item that indicate a decent restaurant. The pictures also appeared to be a restaurant nice enough to celebrate special occasions. They even have mandatory valet parking ($5). We entered the restaurant through the patio, which was adorned with succulents, string lights across the barn-like vaulted ceiling, and featured a large fire pit. Then we were greeted by their bar area with two large TVs and waiting area by the host stand- still look promising (even though there were wobbly and cluttered bar stands). The first sign given to me is when I finally reached the host stand, workers wearing loose jeans and white tennis shoes checked me in. I looked behind her at the dining area, and found a brightly lit room with threadbare muddy carpets, chairs appear in taquerias stacked along the wall, listening to loud music from a private party's dj at the end of the restaurant. While feeling unsure, the rest of my party of 8 arrived. We were led to our table with formal settings at the corner of the mezzanine area by floor to ceiling windows, which is part of what saved the night (although I just can't get over those taqueria chairs... ). The highlights of that night that made this review a 4 star were the presentation and flavor of the food and our wonderful server. Overall, I just think this restaurant is so capable of being a good restaurant (nice building, location, menu), but it is evident that the owner is not investing in the right direction with inconsistent concept/management. As we were leaving the restaurant, the bar area has been converted to a dance floor with Spanish music and disco ball. The friendly hostess also invited me to join them for Karaoke at the bar on Friday nights in the future.
we were seated RIGHT next to a party with a very loud DJ... at times we could not hear our own conversations! We did not have a dedicated server, we had to ASK for the basics, water and bread THREE times; dinner was a disappointment, my 2 kids received the wrong item and they DID not eat it, also our 2 orders of Gnocchi's were mush and uneaten, and the garlic bread was burnt. On top of all this the gratuity was automatically included, SO UNDESERVED!! We will not be returning.
We were celebrating my mom’s 75th birthday and it was a let down. The entrees were decent, as was the service, but all but one of the desserts were just as tiny as can be and our bill was very high for five adults and three kids. I was particularly bothered by the fact that we had to ask for bread, one entree came out quite late, they served our second bottle of wine when we were basically done with our entrees, and they did not acknowledge my mom’s birthday even though we noted it in the reservation.
A dining experience is not only about the food but the ambience as well. Although the food was okay, the restaurant was loud with a party going on with a band, etc. Very disruptive to enjoying dinner.
This restaurant was a suprise. expected an average night. This was fireworks special! Amazing.
fantastic service. only problem was the noise level
The food was very good. Everyone was very nice but the service was interesting. They must have had some new people working that night as they forgot to put in one order that took the longest, and we waited for a table when it was not very crowded. I'm not sure what took so long. They made everything right in the end and we would go back.
I would not suggest
Sat about 30 mins after reservation, waiter rushed us into ordering. He didn’t know answers to questions about the menu. Ordered a cheese platter and he had no clue as to what the cheeses were. Will not go back
We were very amazed with everything. They treats the costumers very good. The food is very delicious. I can’t wait to go there again. Thank you for everything!!
Don't let the big box appearance put you off. The wine server knew his stuff, the food was full of flavour, and the pace was wonderful. I can't wait to come again. Given how close this place is to SFO, that may be soon.
Wonderful indoor and outdoor space. Perfect for any occasion.
Food was tasteless. Ordered the ink risotto and left most of it on my plate The waitress never asked why I left almost all my plate uneaten.
Every thing good just too cold in restaurant.
This is a restaurant without a direction....the lack begins with parking in an unlight garage next door....nice to have parking....but would appreciate someone turning on the lights...!!
Upon entering the restaurant on a Saturday evening one is struck by the lack of clientele...this is the peninsula, where its not so easy to find a table on a Saturday night...so, very big clue that this place is without anything redeeming.
We perused the menu, which is rather limited, and strangely offers almost no fish...given that half its name is fish, something got lost along the way
The waitress was very friendly, but a real novice...dishes were brought in the wrong order, some items were forgotten...just all around well intentioned incompetence.
The food was somewhat mixed....i had a simple green salad, which was nicely dressed, but very meager in quantity..seemed strange for such a simple item. Two of my friends had the Caesar salad, which looked fine, but was reported as flavorless...one diner had asked for dressing on the side, which was beyond the waitresses pay level, apparently....didn’t happen!
There is a pretty decent Italian wine list....really doesn’t fit what has become a pizza and pasta place...still, a nice variety
The main courses seemed OK, but not special...the pizza was simple, but nothing special...my short ribs were a bit light on short ribs and heavy on mashed potatoes...still, not too bad.
Oddly, an Italian restaurant offered no Italian bread, only freezer quality white bread rolls...
Desserts were also confusing...the waitress offered us cherry ice cream, which turned out to be cherry flavored sorbet...not even close...I ordered an espresso, which showed up at the very end after reminding the waitress of my order, which she had obviously forgotten.
Literally, these folks need to close and seriously work on a new concept...this is a big space, with parking, and right off the freeway....it just needs some good management, vision, and some decent staff..
In short, my experience was awful. The restaurant itself had a damp smell that was noticed the moment we walked in. Service was below average. Food was flavorless and not high quality. Wine list was limited and not very well thought out. Should have known it was going to be a bad experience since there were virtually no diners in the entire restaurant. Would not recommend to anyone.
Excellent service and great food. I would recommend this place to all my friends and family
Delicious food. Great crafted beverages. Chef came out and took an order for an off menu item.
This was our first visit and would definitely come here again. The bruschetta and soft shell crab appetizers were outstanding. We chose Short Ribs and Burrida for our entrees and they were filling and delicious. Service was excellent. We’ll be back!
Our reservation was somehow missed or mixed up and we waited a very long time. The manager was gracious and apologetic and offered us a complementary glass of wine in the bar. However there were two parties going on, one that spilled over into the bar with the loudest partiers squealing and screaming ... we couldn't have a conversation without yelling. Then, when we were finally seated, there was another party in another room next to our table on the other side of the restaurant with Karaoke going ... It was almost comical so we tried to relax and enjoy the food - which we did. The waitress was attentive enough and did put a candle in one of our desserts - I had specified in the reservation that we were coming to celebrate a birthday. I noticed we weren't charged for our two (delicious persimmon cobbler) desserts. They did all the right things to make up for the botched reservation, but the noise was a deal breaker for returning there to dine.
Very nice, wonderful service and food was impeccable!
Enjoyed dinner, a short ride from hotel by SFO so very convenient. Loved the interaction with chef as cooking area visible from our seating. We arrived reasonably early, which is recommended, as we had choice seating. Hostess and wait staff did a great job!
great food...super quiet at lunch time...hopping at night. It is a great place in Burlingame that has its own parking lot.
Great experience. the chef owner was attending us and he taken care us great. Great place for a business dinner.
We ordered Bruchetta for an appetizer. Got a hunk of bread drenched in cheese and some sauce. What the hell was that? IMPOSSIBLE to cut and eat within a group. The Calamari was over crispy and tiny. The Salmon entrée was so small - for 29.00 - a total ripoff.
Fattoria E Mare recently started opening for lunch. It is a cavernous building with seating both indoors and outdoors as well as group dining rooms. Outside of a couple sitting and eating at the bar, and the remains of a ladies auxiliary which seemed to have started at about 10 am, we were the only pair in the place. So, noise level was non existent.
The receptionist/waiter/jack-of-all-trades fortunately didn't have a lot of customers so the service was attentive and not overbearing. I shudder to think of how long the wait for food would have been if there had been 20 customers.
Lunch menu is somewhat limited but should contain something for everyone. Wife had the sauteed mussels which were served in hot skillet, 10 mussels in all and she found them satisfying. I had the spaghetti and meatballs which was good but not outstanding. Chef insists on putting carrots in his spaghetti sauce which is an immediate turnoff for me. Tables were set nicely with linen tablecloths and fine stemware.
Pretty fast service. Very convenient location. Too bad that my friend was in a hurry or else we would love to stay for little longer.
It was great
Food was delicious, service was fast, and it was an awesome stop before heading over to SFO for a flight. I'll definitely be back!
The waitress was not very attentive. I ordered hot ice and hot water. The service was a bit slow and more interested in the large parties. Had to wait for bread & water service. She didn't know very much about the food that is on the menu. Was disappointed.
The food was fantastic as well as fresh. Our server Stephanie was amazing.
Great food. Waitress could have been a bit more attentive. But she was very nice. Lots of music coming from one or two private parties a bit odd. Karaoke afterward was fantastic. Think waitress told us re that.
Romantic dinner, big party, causal dining - doesn't matter. Fattoria e Mare does it all with excellence.
Delicious food, gracious, attentive service, Fattoria e Mare is a real gem.
We are all so lucky to live in a region with so many fine dining choices. This is our current favorite. Fattoria e Mare always exceeds our expectations.
Very enjoyable evening. Service made the evening special from the wine selection to offering us a special starter to the ultimate meal.
Looked for a nice place to dine close to our hotel. We were out for a conference and wanted to have one nice relaxing meal. This restaurant was walking distance (~1/2 mile from the Hyatt) and had good Yelp reviews. We arrived at opening and were greeted by Justin Hall (General Manager). As it was early he also directly took care of the service. Excellent experience!
We were looking for a nice dinner for the end of our vacation. This place was perfect! Great wine selection, wonderful food and impeccable service. I had a feeling that we wouldn’t get great service because they were having a huge party in a different room, but we were totally taken care of even by the valet and he was super busy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone
I had a very pleasant Sunday night dinner. I ordered the reasonably priced 3 Course Prix Fixe, which changes daily. My meal included the most creative and tasty salad that I've had in a long time. It was a warmed balsamic baby spinach salad with seedless red grapes, accented by pancetta and pickled onions, and topped with goat cheese. Next was a Berkshire boneless pork chop served over gigante white beans and shaved fennel. Dessert was panna cotta topped with fresh strawberry sauce and a sliced fresh strawberry. The chef is very creative and makes use of locally sourced seasonal products. Justin Hall is the General Manager. He made sure that I was given great service and answered all of my questions.
I highly recommend this restaurant for the cuisine, service, ambiance, parking and it's easy to find.
From waking in the front door you can tell that the restaurant is updated and nice. Then we were greeted by the hostess and seated. It was not very welcoming and awkward. After sitting she stood there for about 30 seconds just staring at the menu before handing it to us. It was 8:00pm on a Friday night and there was only one other table taken. I don’t know if the waitress was new but she seemed very nervous and did not know the menu very well at all. We started out with a bottle of sparkling water (my wife is pregnant), the steamed mussels and farmers market very salad. Both were served right away. I must say that they were both delicious. I was delightfully surprised. Next we asked about the Squid ink seafood risotto and asked if it also came as a pasta. The waitress answered no but they used to serve it on their menu. Then I asked if it could could be substituted and she said oh sure no problem which was a complete 180 from a minute earlier. We also ordered the mushroom and truffle oil pizza. Again both plates were served quickly and both were very good. The pizza was fantastic and the squid ink pasta was pretty good. A couple more tables were seated and then all of the sudden the music changed from light jazz to Mexican ranchera. Multi colored lights were flashing and we hear the DJ announce that it was karaoke time. This threw us for a loop. It just ruined the vibe and ruined the rest of the meal. I could on Yelp that if you check in they award you with free dessert. My wife wanted to try the tiramisu so I checked in. It was tasty. As we were leaving my wife needed to use the restroom so I stood and watched some of the karaoke to pass the time. The DJ approached me and encouraged me to join in. I thanked him but kindly refused. When my wife returned his eyes went straight to her. He kept eyeing her up and down and pleaded for us to stay. I nearly created a scene but diplomatically grabbed my wife and left. Really good food but overall not a good time. So sad.
