Celebrated friends birthdays. Service excellent. Tried some new foods, they were wonderful.
We had an early seating for 6 and one of our guests was running late. Our server handled it very well. She had moderately good knowledge of the menu - was a little weak on descriptions. We thought the food was delicious - we shared almost everything. Pasta dishes were on the small side versus description. Particular favorites were the beef tartare and the salmon crudo - both really flavorful ! Pastas were also full of flavor & unique ingredients. Not sure if we were full for the entrees or they were not as special but definitely prepared properly and good. Wine list a bit pricey compared to other spots we dine. We will go back - big fans of this restaurant group !
It was delicious! We shared the veal meat balls & beef tartar- which was AMAZING!!! Then we shared 4 pastas our favorite was the gigli and garganelli (must haves) other two we had were the crab ravioli & the tarajuno spaghetti. We then shared the chicken & filet which were fine, but the polenta was killer!!!

Very noisy, burrata disappointing just a bit of runny cheese topped with something (maybe mushrooms), Ceasar salad excellent and Brandzino amazing.
The food was great. However charging $21 for a watered down martini is egregious. And $3 for horseradish cream sauce with a $85 steak?!?
Made a reservation for 5pm for two to celebrate her birthday. Arrived 10 minutes early just to be told "we can't seat you as the kitchen doesn't open until 5pm"! Cold front person was very rude. Didn't offer us seats at the bar. Just told us basically to go walk around until 5pm! While I have had many great meals here, I was taken aback by the arrogant attitude of the "Hostess". Seems their success has given some of their front people the idea that treating returning customers with distain is OK... it's not! Next time I am in the need for a top end restaurant for a celebration I will look elsewhere. Scottsdale has too many excellent eateries that appreciate return customers. My good review covers the table wait person and the quality of the food and drink. But I will not return based on our reception.
Only complaint was the lighting. Very dark at table and hard to read menu
The lighting was too low. It was turned down before we got our meal. They said it was the owners orders.

Get bigger candles then. Or check out the other places with good lighting. We don’t want bright- we like low light for eating but this is extreme.
Overall great Italian cuisine. Well presented and delicious. Seating is challenging though as they have a patio with tables by a service area ...not good and the back room really has minimal ambiance. If you want good seating to ask for the front room or back of the patio away from the service area

This was my third and last time at this restaurant. The chef is brilliant and the servers are great, the manager and his assistant are certifiable aholes. I booked my reservation 3 months in advance for outdoor seating and when we arrived with 4 adults and 4 kids we were offered a table inside. I spoke to floor manager who was confrontational and rood, then I spoke to Brian Raab who was introduced as more senior manager, his best suggestion was for us to stick around and wait for someone to cancel to get a table outside. Brian Raab did not even think to offer our kids free deserts or drinks for adults to compensate for his incompetence.
This is our third trip to Scottsdale, and third visit to Fat Ox, and because of covid we only book tables outside. Now with more vaccinations available and more choices Fat Ox with short sighted management is less attractive because If we are not restricted to outdoors we can do any restaurants. This was my last visit to this restaurant. I hope this chef moves on to another place. I WILL NOT BOOK THIS RESTAURANT EVER AGAIN!!

The salmon was undercooked and overpriced. I expect a fine dining restaurant chef to have sauces that are awesome, this was far from that.
Lovely location with comfortable ambiance. Made a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner special.

we were seated at the table next to the waiter station and when we asked to move to one of the many available tables were treated rudely and told no.
The Thanksgiving meal did not include a turkey option as advertised.
The food was only just okay but marked up 400%.

Dinner tonight was absolutely exquisite. Our server Anthony made our night so so special. He explained the dishes perfectly. The flavors on the dishes were outstanding. The wine and cocktails tasteful. Fat ox is our spot to bring friends to have a great experience and tonight was hands down the reason why we continue to love it. The cuisine and service keeps us coming back. 100 stars.
Was excellent….I’ve wanted to try Fat Ox for a long time and was well worth the wait….food was spectacular and everything was cooked perfectly….no need for salt and pepper it’s seasoned to perfection…..we will be back!
We eat at this restaurant frequently with excellent history of top quality food and service. Not the case Sunday night 11/20.
Understaffed, terrible service and food was sub standard. We were charged $10 for requesting a square ice cube for an “on the rocks” drink. Waiter explained after the fact, that it was a more generous pour due to size of ice cube. All in all, very unsatisfactory experience for us at the Fat Ox.

Pricey. Waiter always pushing more food and drink. Bartenders great. Front desk people great. Busser Alex was great.
The table was leaning so things kept sliding off of it. Some of the food was just barely warm, kinda lukewarm

Everything was outstanding
Always enjoy dining there but tonight the service was slow. Having said that they got quite after out 6:30 reservation. Perhaps understaffed. Our server Brittany was very nice & did her best

Our waiter was overly aggressive and pushing us to order a bottle of wine. He asked us a second time after we declined! Then he was trying to sell us on ordering a four course meal. Small portions and very overpriced. One and done for us, never again. I should add that the place was half empty for a Saturday night with wait staff standing around chatting with one another.
Outstanding service and food. I would highly recommend the Fat OX. Four of us went out, and decided to split the Porterhouse, and sides.............amazing, and everything was pre-cut when it came to the table.
Our waitress Heather was friendly, attentive, and made us feel like family.
Extremely overpriced for average food. We ordered pasta dishes: one was basically buttered pasta with pepper and the second was pumpkin spice pasta dish very salty and just 5 clams. Our waitress was overall very attentive for all the tables she was serving. He did miss our appetizer order but made up with a free dessert. We were not impressed though Regarding our food choices and went home hungry after paying over $100 for two. Will not be back or recommend.
Many kitchen issues that the manager couldn’t take responsibility for. He was totally unprofessional. Server was wonderful but taking two hours to get dinner was ridiculous. They need to figure it out
The service always great. My scallop dish was disappointing because it wasn’t Hot when it arrived and the scallops were quite small. My date ordered The salmon and he got the thin end piece which is terrible, especially for the price.
Fat Ox was fabulous. Great atmosphere, exquisite entrees, and excellent service. Wish we had one in Tampa!
