We had the best experience at Fat Ox. The service was great and our waiter was very attentive to our needs. We appreciated the extra care the staff took to help us celebrate our anniversary with the special toast and dessert. We will be back!
Outstanding and unique dishes! We had reservations, but chose to sit at the bar. The bartenders' knowledge of the menu is the best in the industry! They steered us towards their favorites and each dish was outstanding! We enjoyed our meal and experience so much we are going to one of the chef's other restaurants tonight!
Our first time there and celebrated my wife's birthday. Our server Michael (MAZ) was terrific. Highly Recommend
Hands down the best service i have had in a very long time. Food was excellent.
Did not replace utensils prior to main dish being placed on table. “Backed up kitchen” resulted in 2 pasta dishes presented at end of dinner rather than with. Forgot to pack the left over polenta and pasta I asked for...packed my chicken though. Details that don’t go unnoticed~
Very disappointing experience. When I booked the res I took the time to inform the Fat Ox of our special occasion ( birthday) and dietary restrictions. I confirmed the res multiple times thru notifications. Upon arrival I was told we were a “no show” with no effort to adapt. We were a little late some of that due to valet parking. But there we were with a very rude pretentious host at the entrance giving us a “no”. I’ve lived in the valley over 30 years and I make the effort to fill out the info but rarely do restaurants actually read the notes. Ended up in the bar with terrible service and terrible food. And believe me the bar can sometimes be better than the restaurant, not this one.
Inconsistent service - waited an hour between courses. Noise level precludes a normal dinner conversation. Expected a more refined fine dining experience....
Service was excellent. Was my husbands birthday and upon arrival they gave him a birthday card! Also a complimentary dessert of Tiramisu. Food overall was excellent. We’ll be back.
Food was terrific and so was our waiter and service
As usual, this restaurant exceeds expectations!!We do love it here. They have a way of making their customers feel appreciated.
1st Class restaurant. Food and service are special. Could not have been happier with the experience!
Loved the experience! Special place to eat with friends!
Way too noisy. Conversation among 4 people was difficult. Lettering on the menu describing the dishes way too small; lighting almost non-existent. Maybe our table location was not the best. Service was great and accommodating. Wine list too expensive and loaded with wines not known to us, and we know something about wine - at least what we like. Cocktails we ordered were great. The salmon was so-so. The Caesar salad and pastas were tasty, as well as the bread service and meatball appetizer. Overall rating not too great. Maybe we'll try it again on a weeknight and try to choose a quieter table. Thank you.
food was cold
Sent back twice and finally told them not to remake
Not sure what all the hoopla is about. Caesar salad truly lacked flavor as did all the dishes that we ordered, except the salmon which truly was wonderful. Tiramisu was just so so. Probably would not return, as there is far better Italian in the valley.
Great service and great dood.
All 4 dishes we ordered were exceptional.
Service was great, food was average and acoustics lead to really high noise level and us basically yelling across the sloped edged round table for 6 to be heard.
Fantastic food- inventive, flavorful, high quality ingredients. Will come back next time we are in Scottsdale!
A little to loud, but not much of a problem. Food was great! Service was great!
I loved it!!
Sat at the bar. Fantastic service...super friendly.
amazing experience. portions are small but it’s okay.
The chef is a very talented CIA graduate and executes excellent dishes. Brent Rumph , the Managers, oversees everything and ensures all the service and food are are outstanding.
Beautifully designed and tastefully decorated. Menu had great variety with plenty of options for all palettes. Food quality and presentation was exceptional.
We are regulars at Fat Ox, but this was the first time we celebrated New Year’s Eve at this establishment, and cannot say enough about the exceptional experience my husband and I had! The service was phenomenal and the band was just perfect. The four course menu was expansive and every dish we received was excellent- just as good, if not better than any other night! The night ended with a champagne toast and more music. I appreciate the wonderful service throughout the evening. This is our new NYE spot!
Service was outstanding (Thank you, Brian); the food was exceptional, and the location central in Scottsdale. We will keep this on the short rotational list.
We enjoyed a Fat Ox NYE Chef curated 4 course meal. My favorite was the prosciutto in the first course! It was Absolutely delightful! Gabriel and the crew provided each course in a timely manner and made sure our last dining experience of the decade was on point! Def coming back again soon!
My wife and I dine at a different "fancy" restaurant every NYE. We both agreed this was the best food we've had in our ten year tradition.
We were a party of 4 with an early seating on New Years Eve. Tried to seat us by bar and walkway to restrooms. We asked to be seated elsewhere and were seated by servers station. Food was a mix of excellent and totally missing the mark. One person ordered a glass of champagne that turned out to be $50! Service (tip) was added In but you had to look closely or you would have missed it. This was our first time here....
Food was good, but service was ok. New Year's Eve probably not a good night to dine here.
This was our first visit but it won't be our last! AJ was excellent and so helpful with all of his suggestions regard the menu and wine list. Such a wonderful experience!
It was great!
We were generally impressed with Fat Ox. You first notice the incredibly modern atmosphere when entering the restaurant, a unique setting for an Italian restaurant. The service was excellent - both our primary server, and the team effort of supporting staff. My Oxpresso martini was amazing - I'd order it again. And we appreciated the fact that there are wine choices by the glass at a very accessible price point. The primitivo for $13/glass was a really nice wine, and we had several glasses. Of course, if you'd like to spend more on vino, there is an impressive selection, and the same goes for spirits. The buratta di bufala appetizer was the best burrata presentation that we have had. Sauteed broccolini, red pepper, pine nuts, chili honey and grilled piadina made for a generous portion and unique, flavorful dish. The veal meatballs were recommended, but I would strongly recommend skipping them. The three tiny meatballs were very dense, mealy and dry. Flavor was OK, but I gave most of the credit to the sauce and the polenta. This dish is not worth $10, and was the first reason for 4 stars out of 5. In contrast our pastas were excellent. The garganelli was a perfect pasta dish - simple, light, very flavorful and unique. The rosso crest di gallo was also very unique, both in flavor and presentation. Large pieces of duck sausage and mushrooms were accompanied by huckleberries which counterbalanced the bitter dandelion greens. The entire dish, including the pasta itself, was a rich purple color from the red wine in both the pasta and the sauce. Very cool dish. The roasted cauliflower side was tasty, but we could not detect any hazelnut flavor, and the dish is simply not worth $9. I'd skip that one next time. So there is a lot of outstanding food at Fat Ox, and there are some unfortunate misses. My feeling is that you are going to pay $143 (after tip) for 2 people, for Italian food, it needs to be perfect. At these prices, you have no margin for error.
Last night we had an amazing meal and super attentive service. We were given a complete overview of best ways to approach the menu and great suggestions on what to order. The server asked about food allergies without prompting— something I appreciate as I have a kid who has them— although we did not this evening. Everything we tried was delicious and unique. My mom who is tough to please loved all of it — so that’s extremely impressive. Definitely go there! We will go back.
What an amazing restaurant and creative food! Can't recommend this restaurant enough.
Our waitstaff was amazing and had great recommendations. Can’t wait to go back again!
Interesting menu. Delicious food. Pleasant evening for my husband at me at Fat Ox in late December. Caesar Salad made table side was a throwback we enjoyed greatly.
Service slow and substandard for this price point
Overall very good experience. I would recommend. Service was excellent.
I was Very disappointed with the Osso Bucco. Not sure how the chief let it out of the kitchen.
