I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday. I had scheduled the reservation a while ago and was surprised that it coincided with restaurant week. The food was great and the staff was amazing. My boyfriend got the veal meatballs, an 8oz. Prime ox cut steak and the butterscotch budino. I had the cacio e pepe, swordfish, and pistachio gelato. We also shared the table side Caesar salad and some asparagus.
When the reservation was made I also noted that it was a special event, a birthday...the restaurant gave my boyfriend a handwritten card wishing him happy birthday as well as a free dessert of espresso gelato and tiramisu. We left very full but happy.
Amazing! Good, service and. Ambiance were all amazing!! Can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic meal in a beautiful spot! We sat out on the patio on a gorgeous September evening. Started off splitting the Beef Tartare and Buffalo Mozzarella appetizers. Both were very good. The mozzarella was extremely fresh, the beef was waaaay undercooked (haha).
Entrees were the duck sausage pasta and the branding. Both cooked to perfection.
Our server was friendly and very helpful with food and wine recommendations. It was our anniversary so we got complimentary tiramisu for dessert which was also delish.
First time visit to the Fat Ox and it didn't disappoint. Food was excellent and the service was over the top crazy good!!!
Fabulous as always! Tableside ceasar salad is a must!
This was our first time dining at The Fat Ox . Everything and everyone exceeded our high expectations. The food was spectacular. Lizette was wonderful as always and it was very nice to meet Mark , one of the managers . We’ll be back !
Great food and the service is attentive and professional.
Amazing food and service! The Cesar salad was the best I have ever had. We will be back.
The best homemade pasta in Phoenix. Phenomenal service every time.
Always good. Great vibe
This was for a bachelorette party! Everything was wonderful. Nate at the host stand called me earlier in the day to confirm detailed notes I left in my OpenTable reservation and as a former hostess, this was truly appreciated. They hand wrote a card to the bride with congratulations and well wishes and it was a nice touch. I arranged a bottle of Prosecco on the table for our arrival and a toast with Nate beforehand and everything was taken care of. They also brought out a congratulations dessert and it was the cherry on top of the entire dinner. I will definitely be back to enjoy the rest of the menu. All of the food was delicious and this restaurant Can absolutely execute on the details.
I would refer a friend who wants to go to happy hour ONLY. The dinner menu was just so-so. For the price it should be fantastic! This was our 5th time going and probably our last except to get a drink at the bar. Fat Ox does have a nice ambiance.
We had the most amazing experience at Fat Ox. Both our service, food experience and overall evening couldn't have been better!!
Fantastic establishment, great vibe, top service and unquestionable cuisine.
Kristi took very good care of us. She was engaging, and clearly wanted our first experience to be good. She said everything was made to order, and because I am a vegetarian, any meat/fish garnishes (speck, anchovies) could be left off.
We split the Caesar salad (sans anchovy), husband ordered the day scallops, and I ordered the garganelli with the speck on the side. They were extraordinary. We also split the roasted carrot veg side (@ a whopping $14) which was the only disappointment of the night. It was a small serving of carrot, garnished with coarsely chopped raw celery leaves and red chard, with a small bit of whipped goat cheese. I can’t imagine this dish had been blessed by the chef. Raw chard and big pieces of celery leaves? Perhaps if they had also been roasted and caramelized, there would be some synergy rather than a complete disconnect.
The banana tiramisu with gelato was delicious, and easily split. A nice pot of French press and a double espresso ended a lovely meal. Krissi was fully engaged and professional. She’s a valuable asset to Fat Ox, and we will ask to be seated in her area when we return.
Great restaurant! Incredible food and superb staff. Not kid friendly but other than that great for date night or business meal.
Our server was FANTASTIC and the food here was INCREDIBLE, the only issue we had was with a HUGE party we had the unfortunate instance of sitting by. They weren't there when we arrived but were seated during the second course of our meal so we didn't ask to be re-sat since we were already so far into the meal. I just wish the restaurant would have had the foresight to sit a couple on a date night far away from an extremely loud, at some points yelling, rude, millennial bash of 20-25 people. They were so loud that the table next to us ended their meal abruptly and our wonderful waiter apologized for the noise.
We will definitely try Fat Ox again just for the excellent service (Brain gets 5 stars +) and food, but honesty sitting in the bar would have been quieter than where we were seated.
Very overpriced and the food was not worth the cost.
I went there because I saw Beau McMillan on “best thing I ever ate” rave about the meatballs. They were ok. I’ve had better. My husband had scallops, he said they were ok. I asked for a bread basket twice, first guy totally ignored me. We sat in the bar, that was the best part.
Loved the atmosphere! The Gigli is outstanding and portions are more than adequate.
Very good. Bronzino great
One of the top meals of my lifetime. A special thank you to Chef Brandon who let us explore the menu a little more than expected. Our server was on top of it the entire time, and was extremely friendly and not invasive at all. Just an all-around fantastic dining experience that I will not forget. The food was ridiculous good. I kept catching myself stopping between bites to savor the flavors, hoping they would last just a little bit longer before I moved on to the next dish. As expected, the pasta was superb and perfectly paired with their wonderful sauces. I don’t have all the words to capture how much I enjoyed this meal, but please trust me, you will NOT be disappointed. The Rosso Crest Di Gallo with red-wine infused pasta and duck sausage was beautifully plated and flavored, the rich sauce coating each piece of pasta just the perfect amount, not overpowering the base of the dish at all, but complementing it just as it should. I could go on and on about this meal but i’m stuffed, and now i’m sleepy. So do yourself a favor and just go there. Please.
This was our second visit to the Fat Ox this week! We enjoyed it so much the first time that we brought our new friends back to enjoy it as well. Our first waiter was Jason and then Brian and they were both great, offering suggestion to meet our needs. We have already recommended it to others. We are here visiting but if you are a local and have not yet tried it...DO!
Excellent food & service.
The noise was a problem if you are wanting to visit with your family or friends. We had to shout to have a conversation and could not hear the waiter. Food was very good.
Another great dining experience. Thanks to Jason for his excellent service!
One of the best meals and service I have ever had!
Fantastic attention to detail, and service was amazing. 10/10
Brian (server) awesome!
Handicap accessibility and parking?
The service was fantastic, did not feel rushed with dinner. They have a wonderful wine list and we had a good time celebrating our anniversary.
The service and food was phenomenal! We visited Fat Ox for a bachelorette celebration and the hostess, waiter, and manager went above and beyond. Thank you for facilitating a wonderful experience!
We go to the Fat Ox at least once a month and it never disappoints. Their menu and wine selections are amazing. Plus it is always a hot spot on Friday and Saturday nights.
Despite saying we wanted to relax with a drink, the first course came out right away.
Pasta courses were good but not great versus other restaurants like Tratto which has a far better quality and value for money.
Nice vibe to the place if you’re there with others but pretty loud for just a date night if you’re in the main room.
WOW! What an amazing place. The food was excellent and the service was superb! AJ was our server, he was so kind and helpful. We met the GM Brent outside who was wonderful too! I would HIGHLY recommend having dinner at the Fatox. You won’t be disappointed. I had the Calabrian Shrimp and Scallops! The scallops are worth going back for! 5 stars all the way!!!
Homemade pasta was cooked to perfection! Lively place with a hopping bar scene.
Typically my wife and I prefer cooking at home as even the Fine Dining resturants disappoint us with poor or slow service, or poor tasting food. That was certainly not the case at the Fat Ox. We went there Saturday eve to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were seated at our reserved time and immediately presented 2 glasses of champagne by the manager to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our waiter was very pleasant. She explained any questions we had regarding the menu. Our food came surprisingly quickly and in an orderly fashion. Thru out our experience the waiter would stop in to check on us, but she was not intrusive at all. We ordered 5 different items (one itemed was reordered as it was so good!). We loved every one! The night ended with a complimentary tiramisu for my wife's birthday. We highly recommend the Fat Ox!
We went for the Sunset menu and it was amazing! Three courses of fabulous food and the service was impeccable. We can’t wait to go back.
Wonderful food, service and very hands-on owners who adeptly handled a situation with an inappropriate and inebriated guest and defused what could have been an ugly situation. Really very impressive. Could not have been handled more effectively or quietly.
great place, cocktails seemed to have more "filler" then vodka, wait staff amazing BUT the presentation of the menu goes on and on and on and on . . a bit too much. We experienced this our first visit to this restaurant and that is why it took us 2+ to return. It's not necessary to walk patrons thru each and every item on the menu - UNLESS, they ask for it.
Service was excellent. They were very accommodating to my food sensitivities which is much appreciated.
