First time at Fat Ox. Found it actually driving by, since we don’t live in Arizona....the atmosphere was great. But the food as well as the service, was extraordinary. Tableside Caesar was delicious...charcuterie was better...and the pastas about as fresh and well made as you can get. The wine list was really well priced and expansive.
How good was it? We went back the next evening. These folks know how to present a great restaurant.
Great authentic Italian dishes. Sharing is in order with the pasta second course as a must!
Excellent recommendations made by the server! Truffle pasta with Speck was delicate and delicious, many layered lasagna was hearty. Would definitely recommend the roasted cauliflower. Tried 2 different desserts, the tiramisu with espresso Gelato which was very rich and chocolaty! Also tried the amaretto Gelato with cookie bits, which was very yummy. Nice atmosphere and good variety of menu selections. Good wine.

All 3 of use loved our food and plan to go back. In fact one friend said she is taking her son this weekend! It is seriously worth going back for tableside Caesar salad alone.
Everything great except the salad.....It's like eating rope.....fiberous!
I chewed and chewed and chewed...kinda gross. I had this same alad in a prior visit.....same thing!
Worst service in Scottsdale, good pasta, horrible service
Service was amazing, but it got busy and loud; we waited 10-15 minutes after the dessert menu dropped and just decided to leave instead of ordering dessert.
The fried artichoke on the swordfish entree was amazing. I would come back for the fresh pasta alone.
We had great service, the dry aged porterhouse was outrageous.
Outstanding food, however, the restaurant was very dark and loud, we felt like we were dining in a nightclub. That atmosphere detracts from the incredible food.
We've tried this restaurant a couple of times now. I wanted to give it a try again before I wrote a review.
It was surprisingly easy and straight forward to get reservations for a Saturday evening and we were seated as soon as we got there.
There were 2-3 servers that approached our table and introduced themselves and said they'd be taking care of us but that changed pretty quickly. Our "primary" server Aaron knew the menu well and helped make selections but came across as a little pushy.. never felt that with a server so that takes away 1 star from my review.
Everything else was totally on point - decor, ambience, food, our secondary servers who did take over eventually.
House bread, butter and ricotta is phenomenal.
Table side Caesar salad 5/5 - must try!
While the scallops were a little too buttery and greasy, the green tortellini blew my mind!
All dishes have a relatively smaller serving size.
This was a perfect place to celebrate someone special!! The decor was beautiful and the food and service impeccable.
Truly an unbelievable dining experience. Be sure to have the veal meatballs (you will thank me later).

This was my first visit to the Fat Ox and I loved my experience. I sat at the bar for dinner. I asked the bartender for meal recommendations and I ordered one of her suggestions. It was delicious. I also enjoyed the ambiance and overall energy of the restaurant. I will definitely return during my future visits to Scottsdale.
Overall the food was fantastic. We were seated in the backroom area which felt a little disconnected from the main dining room area. The service is "family style" so be prepared to have multiple people waiting on you (which gets a bit confusing when you actually need something). Overall food A+ service was a B as I felt they were very busy and the server(s) never spent a lot of time explaining anything to us. Overall would come back and just try to sit in the bar area.
This was my our first time at Fat Ox and we loved it. First, our server, Canten, and his assistant (a tall handsome fellow whose name I have regrettably forgotten), were outstanding. The service they provided us was really a joy. They were attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable and informative, and really read the crowd and the vibe at the table. I cannot say enough good things about them. Then there was the food. We are foodies so we ordered several things so we could all sample a wide variety of the menu. Wow. There was absolutely nothing that I would not order again enthusiastically. The real stand outs were the Burrata, the Garganelli, the scallops and the Filet. Order a side of trumpet mushrooms. They are rich and delicious.
This place is now in my regular rotation of favorites in Scottsdale and I cannot wait to go back again.
Always love the food and ambience. I have to say that Canton gave the best service. We are foodies and visit great restaurants and Canton gave us service at the Michelin level.

We celebrated our anniversary with friends. Our waiter A J was excellent, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The pastas were delicious and the steaks done perfectly.

One of the best meals and service ever! The layer and thought behind each dishes was amazing. It is pricey if you go all out... which we did for an anniversary dinner. But one could go for just a dish or two of amazing food as well! I will be telling everyone about fat ox!

Service and food was amazing! Your restaurant would be a regular for us if we lived here. Our waiter, Canten, was excellent and was able to describe the ingredients in the meals. We will see you again tonight.
My associate and I made reservations to meet with one of our favorite reps. All three of us love food adventures as well as great drinks and super company. We experienced all three at the Fat Ox! The adventure started at the bar with 2 of the most amazing drinks from Larry. The first was a cocktail with Aperol, Larry's own syrup ( pineapple, sirachi pepper and cinnamon and nutmeg) and vodka(?). The first sip was slightly sweet and then came the hot and spicy kick! Second drink was a variation of a Lemondrop but with a more complex flavor based with gin. I will go back just to try another of Larry's drinks! AJ was our superb waiter who guided our culinary journey! We began with Veal Metballs and the Burrata diBufala. Awesome! Melt in your mouth wonderful! AJ's next recommendations were Garganelli Pasta and the Rigatoni Lamb Verde. Just to die for! The 2 appetizers and 2 pasta dishes were perfect for the three of us. I could have called it a day right then but the way AZ romanced the Creekside Filet and the Hokkaido Diver Scallops, we had to order as well and we were so glad we did! My husband benefitted from some super leftovers but we enjoyed the most tender steak and flavorful scallops I have ever enjoyed. Can't wait to go back!

Very nice...though the value is not there. The dishes were imaginative and tasty, though everything was slightly salty for my palette. For example, the swordfish was well prepared and had a good flavor, but the bed of peppers and onions etc that was plated with it was very salty. Parsnip pasta delicious, but again, a bit salty, and a very small portion. I would go again as I felt the menu was so interesting, and the ambience and service was perfect. Full disclosure-I did not have any red meat, which may have been the star of the menu.

I had very high expectations for this new restaurant from all the reviews I have received from friends.
There were some things I loved about the restaurant after my first visit- the bread and butter was outstanding. The veal meatball is also a must have! I did love the creativity of the menu but the dish I ordered was mediocre.
Our waiter was a very nice guy but wasn’t attentive, especially as we were first time guests. I found myself ease dropping on the table next to me because their server exianed the menu and additional off the men speicials which our waiter never told us about.
From the minute we walked in until we slipped out the door, I felt like I was taken care of, without the staff stepping on my toes, the menu was explained beautifully. The craft cocktails were amazing and the food? I can't begin to tell you how delicious this meal was. My So and I splurge on a meal at least 2-3 times per month and this place is now on our short list of regular visits! I had a buffalo mozzarella appetizer that had just the right amount of acid, sweet, salt & crunch. I then splurged on pasta - the sauce was a simple parmesan, cream, speck concotion. I did the 2nd course size. You can get the dinner sized portion if you're very hungry! The ONLY constructive criticism is the pasta was just north of being ready to come out of the water. 15 or 20 seconds more and the toothiness would have been perfection.
Fat Ox’s chef and servers are amazing. My sister and I had an excellent time at the restaurant. Their cocktails fell a bit short but the wine list was amazing. Our server recommended most of what we had to eat for the evening and suggested the wine we ordered. This was an experience not just a meal. This place came highly recommended to me and I will make sure I recommend it in the future.
The Garganelli Pasta is absolutely amazing and the Filet was cooked to absolute perfection.

Went to dine here during our vacation & for our 20th Anniversary...Food was delicious & service was outstanding...We had ‘soup to nuts’ or full course dinner, & it all worked really well! You must try one of their pasta dishes, they are very tasty!!

Food and service were fantastic! The homemade squid ink pasta was absolutely amazing!!! The pasta was so fresh and tasty it melted in your mouth. We also got the Caesar salad which they make table side. It was summer so we sat outside which was great! We ordered a steak for 2, also fantastic. Our server was super kind, and very easy to talk to. I recommend anyone in town going to FatOx specifically for the pasta!!!

Our meal was great and service was on point until we finished our entrees. It seemed as though our server abandoned us for the rest of the meal. I’m not sure we even saw our main server again. We were hoping for dessert menus, which we never received and waited quite a while for the check. To be fair, we were provided with a complimentary birthday dessert, which was great. But again, the option for other desserts or after dinner drinks wasn’t there. She may have gotten busy as the restaurant filled up more, but her absence really made an impact on the rest of the night.
