superb food, with the exception of the desert TIRAMISU
Billy Bessinger was a big part of the outstanding time we had! His service was impeccable!
Service was not as good as what I would expect from Fat Ox.
Food at the Fat Ox is quite good, the service however, is somewhat haphazard and arrogant.
I returned to Fat Ox with one of my favorite vendors and friends. She and I had the quiet space we needed to discuss business as well as our personal lives. The food was spot on primo as always. I think my favorites that night were 1. the custom cocktail prepaired by Chris. I assigned him to get creative and amuse me! He did both! 2. We had a spaghetti with black pepper that had the most spectacular flavor in such a simple dish! Wow! Can't wait to come back next week with e more business associates! This will not be their firt rodeo at Fat Ox but has become their premier Scottsdale must try referral restaurant! So glad I could get into practice for next week!
I dinner with full plate( I ordered the clams) full of ground up( with big chunks) clam shells. It took 15 min to get my replacement( duck sage) by that time my guest had finished. I was embarrassed and to flag the server to have it boxed. I will not recommend this place.
Seats could be more comfortable
The food and service was very good. I would recommend a larger table for four people. With shared plates, water glasses and wine glasses (large ones), it was very crowded and very limited on space at the table. We were seated in the back room and it was incredibly noisy. Everyone’s conversations echoed due to the brick walls and not having anything to absorb the noise. Pastas were excellent! Scollops were just okay. Overall it was a nice dinning experience.
First time here. The food and service are outstanding. Very attractive place and nice bar area. Kitchen is attentive to dietary needs. It is a "foodie" place. Portions are decent sized but not huge. Pricing is very good for the quality provided, but it is not a place for bargain hunters or small children. My only complaint is the acoustics. Although the rooms are very visually appealing, the noise level was terrible. We were having an important business meeting and it was impossible to hear the others at times. It was a Saturday night, so perhaps mid-week the noise level is OK. Reservations are strongly recommended. I would definitely return. The food is worth it!
Overall, good dining experience. Servers were very knowledgeable and attentive.
It was my birthday and we had some friends join us for dinner who had never been to Fat Oz before.
We enjoyed a couple of specialty cocktails first and had a bottle of lovely Italian wine opened to breathe before we started dinner.
Dinner was exceptional as usual and we had a fabulous meal and shared 2 desserts between us all.
Thank you to the wait staff who were all wonderful and made our dining experience what it was - fantastic.
Will be back - soon!!
I went to this restaurant to celebrate a bachelorette party. We were absolutely astounded by the service and food. Not a single thing disappointed. Top notch.
Amazing food and excellent service! We especially loved our server! We would definitely go back.
I specified in my OpenTable reservation that we were celebrating a cousin's wedding. There was no acknowledgement of the special occasion.
I was in general, underwhelmed. The appetizers we ordered (mozzarella di bufala was too bitter, perhaps too much fennel; cacio e pepe was good but the portion size, was too small).
Sorry, this one was a major disappointment for me. Our server, Kelsey, seemed rush and there was just something disingenuous about him.
We were a party of five. The tab was just a shade under $500 (including 20% tip). We live in New York and visit Scottsdale once a year. By New York's standards, Fat Ox's prices are rich because food and service were just so-so.
Food was mediocre. There were five people in our party and 4 of the entrees were disappointing. Not an altogether bad experience, but definitely did not live up to the hype or the prices.
Food was excellent, our server knowledgeable and polite
Great place, great food, great service. Enough said.
It was outstanding!!!!! My husband is a " Foodie". We can't wait to go back. My only complaint was the noise level. Our waiter & rest of the staff was perfect!
Food was fantastic, and our server, Scott, was amazing!
We had a reservation and when we got there people seemed to be scurrying around. They tell us we had a high top reservation, which we did. But they tell us the only thing available is the overflow bar seating, which clearly isn’t a dining table. We sat there, waitress was semi attentive. Steaks were over priced and poor quality! A $65 New York lacked flavor and was tough. No way was it prime!! Daughter’s lasagna was burnt. Terrible food. Don’t waste your time or money .
Outstanding service and food is to die for! Interior is beautiful.
Excellent wait staff. Amazing service. Great food with gorgeous presentation...exceptional wine list. There was nothing to 'not' love!
Innovative, fresh-have been there twice and it was great both times. Service was impeccable. A bit noisy. Really hate the “art” black and white photos. Only drawback on the food was what could have been an amazing salad was an overdressed pile of bagged lettuce—-use decent lettuce!!! Will go back!
Went with a few girlfriends and sat at a high top table. Loved the atmosphere, the drinks, and the food. No disappointment whatsoever.
Great food, service and ambience. This one is on the top of my Scottsdale list now.
Four of us visited on a busy Friday and had a very good experience. Prices are high and it is a little 'Gucci' but service was perfect and the food was very tasty. The food is rich and may not appeal to all. We had scallops, short ribs and 2 different orders of pasta. All good. Wine choices are extensive but tend to be higher end wines. Will go back but not an every weekend type of place
Great restaurant, awesome food, and excellent management. Brian the owner greeted us himself, class act!
Food was good.. Ordered several corses and we shared.
The food was creative and delicious. The restaurant was cool, loved the vibe. We sat on the patio, and with the heaters, it was not cold at all. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The entire experience made for a special night.
Ambiance. Food. Service.perfect experience. Will return often
Best meal and service in a while!
Our waiter Jacob basically ignored us once a larger party of10 showed up. His assistant tried to make it up. Thank goodness the food was above average .
To top it off he showed up at the end with the check then never returned so I had to check out at the reception stand
Good food, incredibly rude waiter.
Delicious flavors and beautifuly plated food! Staff knows the menu and makes great recommendations!
One of the best restaurants in Scottsdale, AZ, bar none! Authentic Italian menu. Good portions and wait staff. The only improvement would be to contain the noise level better. We were there on a busy Wednesday night and had to practically shout across the table to simply talk to one another. Thank goodness the male servers had booming voices so we could hear them.
We really enjoyed the experience. It is a little noisy, largely because it was full of people having a great time and enjoying a great meal
Two of us ordered the rib eye ($58). Both orders were ordered medium but was one was brought to the table rare. The other two of us ordered the pork PLUMA IBERICA DE BELLOTA ($52 each). One of these orders was also ordered medium and came out raw. The rib eye and the Pluma pork were served sliced. How in the world can they serve these dishes rare when ordered medium when they slice the meat? Further, I’ve never had my steak served sliced, except perhaps at a low level steak house. REALLY! Meat was not hot and all the juices drained out of the meat making it tasteless and dry. Waiter couldn’t care less. Outrageous prices, mediocre rib eye and pork Pluma. Prices are beyond outrageous.
The place was packed but I don’t get it. It is very trendy and perhaps that’s what draws people in. If you want a great steak go to one of the many steak houses. This place just does not stand up to the level and quality of Mastros, Steak 44, Domicks, etc.
WE WONT BE GOING BACK, none of us in our party of 4 were satisfied.
It was a very enjoyable evening and all would consider returning for another dining experience.
The meatballs were good, but I did not like the polenta and the small plate with not enough sauce. Had an order of muscles that were inedible and I returned. Wine by the glass prices are extremely high. Would not go back.
