Fascino, the brainchild of celebrity Chef Ryan DePersio and his family, is a study in modern Italian food, coined "Italian without borders." Ryan's unique approach is apparent, showcasing his years with world renowned chefs Jean Georges Vongrichten and David Bouley. Achieving a Zagat food rating of 26, it states, a "consistent" "favorite" for its "elegant", "innovative" interpretations of "traditional" dishes (and his mom's "alluring" desserts). Fourteen years and going strong, Fascino has been renovated, completely redecorated with a fresh new look, and has a newly expanded menu.

Fascino Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I had been wanting to try Fascino for a long time and finally went for my birthday saturday night. The food was amazing, service impeccable, ambiance great...cozy but hip, and the price was so reasonable as it's a BYOB. We can't wait to return!!
This was my first visit to Fascino, although my 3 dinner companions had all been there before. It was a delightful surprise. It was quiet enough to talk but full of vibrance and a place one feels cared for by its staff. We had a wonderful booth at the front and the food was quite delicious. I had the bronzino over couscous which was quite tasty and interesting in its presentation. I would recommend this restaurant highly for its caring wait staff and its delicately prepared food.
We were seated in a quiet booth which was perfect for conversation. Our waiter Michael was fabulous as always.
Dinner was lovely - we tried all sorts of things and loved experimenting. The braised ribs were delicious but no sides. The halibut was exquisite and came with vegetables. The salmon special appetizer was better than the polenta fries.
We love eating here and love to use Open Table to reserve.
A perfect place for a special occasion.
Date night with the wife. The food was good excellent. The staff where very attentive.
BEWARE there is an extremely cozy (frighten tiny) table. Not the kind of table I would expect from a reservation holder. If I where a walk in guest, I would call it accommodating. It felt like I was going to knock food off the table.
Aside from the great food, excellent service and mediocre sized table, the restaurant is BYOB and accommodating. Overall an excellent value.
We went to Fascino for our 15 Anniversary. I requested a special private table on my Open Table reservation, which they accommodated. The host and owner wished us a Happy Anniversary when we arrived. Our waiter was outstanding. Professional, knowledgeable, attentive and engaging. The food quality was truly excellent. Flat iron steak was perfectly prepared and homemade gnocchi with sweet sausage ragu was mouth watering. Dessert was chocolate and coffee mousse special that was a perfect ending to the meal. Highly recommend!
Our favorite restaurant in Montclair, NJ! Bring your favorite bottle of wine and choose the chef selection dinner which is a 4 - course meal - a dining experience with delicious food. Service is impeccable and compliments the experience. Highly, highly recommend Fascino to everybody!
I have wanted to visit the restaurant for a while. It did not disappoint. The service wAs very professional. The food was fantastic with interesting twists on traditional dishes. The pappardelle with rabbit ragu was delicious. The desserts were wonderful as well. Don't be turned off by the credit card reservation hold. The restaurant is well laid out so the noise level is relatively good. Had a very expensive meal the night before at a NY restaurant and this was 30% of the cost and 1000% better. Bravo.
My fiance and I visited Fascino for a date. Although the service and ambiance were fantastic, the food didn't quite hit the mark for us. It was certainly good, but nothing special for the price. We had heard amazing things about the polenta fries and just had to try, but were very disappointed. The sauce was fantastic, the fries themselves were kind of bland and needed some seasoning. My fiance had the duck which he ended up taking home because he didn't quite like it and I had the special, which was okay. We did appreciate the BYOB, however. We still had a good time regardless, but next time we'd opt to go somewhere else.
My family of five went to Fascino for my wife's birthday dinner. The service was excellent. Our waiter, Walter, was knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. There were many unique appetizers to choose from and we tried four of them. We had our favorites, truffle artichoke and zucchini flower stuffed with crabmeat, but they were all good. Everyone liked their entre choice as well. We all tasted and really liked the ricotta gnocchi. It was a quite night and we were the loudest table there, but the atmosphere was pleasant. All in all, we really enjoyed it and would go back in the next couple of months to try some more of the creative dishes.
Food was great but unfortunately the service was terrible. 1hr 10min to get starters, had to talk to the manager to get things moving. They did comp us coffee and dessert which was a nice gesture, but was just a little too late by then. We've eaten here multiple times, but after this most recent experience we won't be returning, such a shame as the food is quite excellent.
This was an 'event' night at Fascino featuring a five course tasting menu with dishes from Bar Cara, Fascino's more casual sister restaurant, that closed four years ago to the regret of many. Chef Ryan DePersio was out to comment on each course, a nice touch. My comments:
Thin Sliced Mortadella, Whipped Ricotta, House Made Foccaccia, Drizzled With Honey -perfectly executed and delicious. A.
Local Clams Oreganata, Charred Lemon - the tiny clams were a bit overwhelmed by the breading. B-.
Papa Mac's Cavatelli, Arugula, Sweet Sausage Broth, Asiago Cheese - Again, great ingredients cooked perfectly. Maybe a tad less sparkling than the first course. A-.
Brick Roasted Chicken, Barlotto, Mushroom Marsala - moist, tender chicken. Nicely cooked barley risotto. Mushrooms had great flavor. Had there not been salt slicks on a few spots of the chicken skin, the main would have been flawless. B+.
Pizelle Cheesecake Panini, Summer Berries - a light, flavorful and texturally interesting finish. A-.
Service wonderful as always. GM Chris Pavone does a fine job making you feel like extended family. This continues to be our favorite Montclair restaurant.
Lived up to all expectations. Outstanding service, creative food (from a somewhat limited menu), comfortable understated ambiance. All the dishes were excellent - stuffed zucchini blossoms and papardelle with duck starters and shrimp scampi style and 14-oz pork chop . Nice added touch - small bowl of house-made gelato to commemorate our anniversary
we've been to Fascino many times over the years and this place has maintained it's high standards. We were late evening diners (in fact, the last to leave) but never felt rushed. Service was impeccable. The cuisine was superb, scallops perfectly prepared. The fact that its still a BYOB is an added benefit.
