Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch Ratings and Reviews
The overall property is gorgeous! But for how much you pay for the food it was sub par. Which was really disappointing especially paying after paying $40 a person for lunch. The ambience of the restaurant was really cool it makes you feel like your dining in a farmhouse.
Having read about this restaurant prior to booking, I was prepared for the excellent dining experience. We all expressed how our meals were prepared in a way to let the food's flavor take center stage. Seasoning and sauces were kept on the sidelines. Two of our table selected the featured ribeye special. While it was praised for the flavor, the surprise we received when the check came was enough to leave a bad taste. Shame on us for not asking the price of the Ribeye, which was $76. Our server should have offered the price when he reviewed the evening specials. However, we should have asked. The table next to us had the same experience and surprise when the check arrived. Despite the overpriced ribeye, the dinner was fantastic.
A very disappointing dinner at what once was one of my favorite in Napa Valley. Started by sitting in a dimly lit booth that the seats sunk down so low you felt like you needed a pillow to sit-up straight. Cheddar Cheese muffins cold, Burgers that used to be the best were dry and tasted strange, chicken dish ok, macaroni was the star of the meal. Even the dessert wasn’t he same.
Not sure if the Hall family sold the restaurant, but it’s been a day since our meal and I’m still upset. I’m going to have a tough time recommending Farmstead in the future.
The food is very interesting. That said, some of the dishes worked for me, others didn't. The good thing is everyone at the table found dishes that they liked. So everyone left happy. I thought the buratta and the pasta with forest mushrooms were outstanding.
It took forever to get service. By the time we had someone take our order we were so hungry we ordered more appetizers than necessary. The appetizers were AMAZING! But it took so long for him to come back we all split meals. Personal I ordered the $75 ribeye special. It was worth about a $30 steak at outback. Was way over cooked, small, and not worth it. I would definitely go back because of the appetizers.
We had family visiting Napa Valley for the first time. We booked 3 reservations for the evening at Bottega, Mustards, and Farmstead because we wanted the best experience to show off the amazing California food to them. The casual atmosphere and farm to table menu were what we weighed our decision after a long day of wine tasting. We had 4 meals at Farmstead before. This time, the waiter's service was so bad, and they were out of 3 items on the menu that we tried to order--and on a Friday night?! We left that night, embarrassed, and regret wasting our 1 dinner together with family we rarely get to see. We will NOT be back.
My husband I came to Farmstead at the recommendation of a friend who is also a chef. This was our first time to Napa Valley and this was by far our favorite restaurant. Simply amazing, from the food, the atmosphere, the beautiful and impressive garden... we will definitely be back at our next trip to Napa!
I've worked in advertising as a creative resource since 1980. One of my clients lives in St. Helena. Since they first introduced me to Farmstead at Long Meadow, it remains my first choice for despite many other options available in the area. After five or six lunch meetings, this calming and delightful restaurant will continue to be a "first choice" when in St. Helena.
Our experience at Farmstead was excellent start to finish. The food and service was amazing - from the bar area outside to our dinner ! The place is lively and the staff is great - it was busy, but there was not much of a wait for drinks or food at the bar, and service inside was also very good. Special mention to our server Annie - very friendly and provided great service!
I would highly recommend it while in St. Helena!
Most disappointing was being completely ignored by our waiter throughout the meal - other waiters helped us and he forgot to deliver my wife’s second glass of wine which killed the mood of the meal - this is wine country after all! Could have been such a nice experience if not for the waiter.
My family and I were super excited to experience Farmstead because we received so many rave reviews. The ambiance in the restaurant is nice but we sat at a table with bright sunlight that several flies were attracted to. We ended up swatting away flies during the entire meal. Our waitress was serviceable but seemed very rushed to take our order and run away. The beverages were refreshing but lacked some of the ingredients described on the menu. We ordered several menu items to share. The pork chop with grits came out cold. It needed to be seared on both sides and put in the oven. A manager was nice enough to remove that from our bill. The food items lacked developed flavors. The pulled pork sandwich came with the BBQ sauce on the side and the pork was dry. The crispy potatoes, macaroni and cheese and meatballs were good. Our impression was that the kitchen seemed rushed just to get food out to the tables and overlooked quality on certain items.
