Farmhouse - Evanston
The menu ingredients are harvested from local farmers and change with the Midwestern seasons. Farmhouse offers locally sourced, pastured raised burgers, steaks, and poultry and makes almost everything from scratch on premise. We are a green tavern. 85% of the building materials, furniture and fixtures were salvaged from old barns in Southwestern Wisconsin and an abandoned factory on Chicago's South Side.

The food is outstanding! Such fresh ingredients, with options that border on comfort food (I had the risotto), and others that are a little more adventurous. The room is slightly noisy, but not overwhelming. Our server was friendly, knowledgable, and professional.
The second floor where we ate was a very small room with no ambiance
Food was good though
Thanks to the great staff for our specially plated “to share” order. Will come again soon!
The Farmhouse has a limited menu. But the food was excellent. We had a party of nine people. The restaurant is very noisy so it’s hard to converse. We ordered the veggie burgers, the hamburgers, the salads, mac n cheese, mussels and the fish! We loved the food and also the desserts!
The restaurant was adequate. We had a party of 15 for the Mother's Day brunch. The atmosphere was not at all inviting. It seemed that they were under staffed for the day and we did not feel that we were taken care of sufficiently. The host was in even to my sister- in law about the head count. Maybe a smaller party would have been taken care of better, but my family and I will not give this restaurant a second chance.
I would recommend it for lunch but was not impressed by the Mother's Day brunch.
Overpriced average food and terrible service. I was surprised as I'd heard good things.
It was enough to know the Mothers’ Day buffet would be delicious, as it was. However the staff made it a very special day for my Mom and me. My Mom has mobility and hearing issues. From the hotel valet staff to our wait staff, help, kindness, and generosity made her access easy and enjoyment full. Thank you!
Overall a good experience. We were there for Mother's day brunch. I expected the meats to be more flavorful and tender but they kind of dried out probably as a result of the buffet. rest of the food was good. I enjoyed the very attentive service of the staff and although it was a hectic day we did not feel hurried at all. So yes, overall I would recommend this restaurant fully expecting the food to be more on point with the a la carte menu than in a buffet.
We fell in love this restaurant, we traveled to Evanston for a non-profit event and happened to stay at the Hilton. We had no idea that the restaurant we attached to the Hilton which was a very pleasant surprise. We had the best experience, we ate there for brunch both mornings while in Evanston. I loved the French Toast with Rubarb compote( this is a must to try... I promise you will not disappointed).
The Mother’s Day brunch was beyond phenomenal, we have a vegan in the family and it is usually hard to find a restaurant that pleases everyone but the farmhouse was seamless in taking care of her needs. We will definitely be back!
The food was prepared well, presented in a rustic fashion as fitting to the theme. The concrete floors and lack of noise buffering created an exceptionally loud atmosphere. The patio may be a better choice when the season starts. Although not a restaurant issue- we found kids running wild creating a hazard to the servers and those with ambulation problems.
Outstanding experience for my 84 year old father’s birthday celebration! Excellent food and service.
Not a lot of of light options. I don’t always want a salad. The veggie burger is deep fried-!?!?
Farmhouses is a nice rustic feeling restaurant with an intriguing menu and a great draft beer selection. We enjoyed a post graduation meal. Look forward to returning to enjoy again in the future.
Menu is limited but food is fresh. Chopped salad was bland and disappointing.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere!
This place needs to change it up. Veggie burger is a pile of much beans. Overall this place is completely lack luster. Guess okay for a burger. Clearly not the veggie burger. Time to change it up and pick up your offerings. Place was empty on a Thursday night
I love that this restaurant uses quality ingredients. I love seeing the words grass fed on the menu. My biggest complaint is the tables are too close together and you feel like you were sitting in the middle of somebody else’s conversation. The wait staff is hit or miss. On the whole, it’s the menu that keeps me coming back.
Incredibly noisy! Could not hear my dining partner who was sitting across from me. I asked for a table in a quieter area and was told 'no', even though there are quiet side rooms and an upstairs that was quieter. Our server did not come to the table for at least 10 minutes after we were seated and did not come back to check on us after we were served.
The food is quite tasty; on the pricey side.
Food was good and plentiful. Our waiter was not very attentive and I'm don't require a lot of attention. Noise level is high.
Good food. Good proportions. Great service. Need to do something about the noise level.
Easter brunch with my hard of hearing family. Staff was so helpful!
I always love the food. The buffet today was outstanding. Very friendly wait staff.
Excellent Easter Buffet. We will be back next year.
EASTER BRUNCH: The quality of the brunch was not significantly better than what you might get at any daily brunch served at a mediocre motel. Eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and french toast were the main staples served with one carving station (prime rib) and some steamed salmon and ham in warming trays. Salad bar was sad and offered the bare minimum and the dessert tray consisted of stale donuts.
Very unimpressive and not worth half the price charged.
Disappointed in the brunch . A few years back went to Mothers Day Brunch and loved it-
NO bread... Very skimpy deserts... Salads just ok.
Food and drink were amazing as always. And the service was on point as well. We will definitely do that again.
Overall it was good.
I love farm to table restaurants and this was a great experience. The food was amazing and my only criticism would be that my entree was a bit too busy. The flat iron steak was incredible which is what I had. My guests dinners were equally amazing, but like my entree a bit busy. I like a combination of flavors, but not so much that I cannot discern them. I will eat there the next time I am at Northwestern.
Great food and great times!
Great good and great service. Our waiter was great!
All was great except for the air conditioning (on a snowy day) was blowing right on me. Server was polite and apologetic but it did take away from my dining experience.
Went with friends, was so loud it was hard to hear each other but food and service was good.
Delicious seasonal food served in a casual fun setting. Good vibe!
Service was ok, decor cute, food pretty good. Wine was very overpriced!
So loud. Shriekers at the bar table behind us. Couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Loved the menu of locally sourced foods, including the Wisconsin distilled gin, Death's Door. We will be back for another meal.
The food was quite good. I ordered the trout, which was delicious, but it did not have the accompaniments as described. It was supposed to come with sweet potatoes, but it came with parsnips and forbidden rice.
A restaurant that boasts that they are farm to table that serves a flat iron steak so tough you had to saw through it and couldn’t be chewed is a disgrace. It was my daughter’s 21st birthday which they did not even acknowledge even though it was in our reservation. And her pork chops were so bad she ate less than half. My flat iron steak was replaced - after the other 5 people in our party had finished dinner. We won’t be going back!
