Farmhouse - Evanston
The menu ingredients are harvested from local farmers and change with the Midwestern seasons. Farmhouse offers locally sourced, pastured raised burgers, steaks, and poultry and makes almost everything from scratch on premise. We are a green tavern. 85% of the building materials, furniture and fixtures were salvaged from old barns in Southwestern Wisconsin and an abandoned factory on Chicago's South Side.

Taylor took care of us and she is awesome, so friendly, helpful and on top of things. We appreciated being seated in a smaller more private room which was much quieter.
It was very busy when we were there with a wedding party from the hotel its attached to. We were never offered drinks. Appetizers came out in literally 5 minutes which left a very long delay between apps and main. Not the end of the world, but they could time better. Our waiter who greeted us disappeared and then we had a waitress show up with no explanation. Had to ask for silverware, plates, water refills... You get the idea. Again, not the end of the world, but a little communication would have been nice. Food was good but way overpriced in my opinion. $17 for a chicken sandwich is excessive. I wouldn't go back only because there are so many other places to try and this wasn't memorable.
Interesting asthetic. Salad was bland in tasteless
Fries and cheese curds were good
Service was good but it was not busy
Not work $60 for three people
We had a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. My spouse had the fried cod and French fries. The food was good. It is a medium restaurant located in the Hilton Hotel across from the Northwestern campus dorms. It has bare brick walls and wooden tables.
Over cooked and poor quality. Server was very gracious. Get a new meat supplies.
Everything was super. Unfortunately, noise level too: super loud.
Frankly food so so and waiter seemed to rush us. Pretty expensive for what you get and nothing too special about the ambiance - was oddly loud for lunch.
Excellent food with a helpful attentive waitstaff
Took a friend for her birthday brunch and she loved it. Tasty breakfast cocktails and yummy food. Our server was amazing!
If you’re looking for delicious and original Midwestern cuisine, this is the place! Farmhouse works with local farmers and growers to bring the freshest local produce, meats and dairy to each dish. As you peruse the menu, you’ll notice the food source is listed next to the dish, which is nice. We decided to share several of the dishes, which was a wise choice as many of the selections sounded too delicious to pass up! Our dishes included the Farmhouse salad, hummus with lamb, chicken thighs, baked mac-n-cheese, and the house made pickled jar. Although the portions were generous enough to share among the three of us, we left room to enjoy the maple poached apple bread pudding and ice cream. All was delicious! The Farmhouse also offers a wide selection of crafted beers and they make their own hard cider. The wait staff are friendly and service is excellent. The menu often changes based on available ingredients so returns trips are suggested! Highly recommend a visit.
Many service gaps: reported me as a no-show to Open Table even though I shared my name and that there had been a reservation, brought food with no silverware, Drink menu built around limoncello but out of limoncello, disappearing servers. Good was of high quality.
Our experience at Farmhouse was wonderful. The food was delicious and the service was timely and great. Can’t wait to come back!
went for brunch on a Sunday. Great location to people watch on a Sunday. Interesting food selection, well presented.
we were not impressed. very limited menu. we were told ahead that you had "gluten free menu" as we had two people with Celiac disease. when we got there, the waiter said he would get the menu when we asked. He then came back and told us that they had discontinued the menu and the only things really gluten free were the salads. And the food was just average, not one thing special. what a bummer. We had come to Evanston to see the MSU vs Northwestern game, and this was really a downer after an earlier fun experience. I would not recommend to anyone.
The waiter was a little slow or forgetful. He seemed like he didn’t know everything on the menu. My 82 year old aunt and 65 year old cousin immediately said it was too loud inside restaurant. Chicken vegetable soup was very good. Potato soup and salad a little too heavy on the bacon bits.
Great food, vibe, outdoor space, location and service.
Great Food! Great Location! Service was slow and we never seemed to have a waiter!
Moving son into Northwestern and chose Farmhouse for breakfast. Service good and food was mediocre.
Fantastic food. Excellent service
Food was meh
As always, Farmhouse Evanston did not disappoint. Great drinks and food in a welcoming atmosphere.
We were disappointed with Farmhouse mostly because the food, while tasty, was barely warm when we received it. I ordered the eggs Benedict and the Bollain daisy sauce was superb with a dash of savory lemon flavor. But who want to eat cold eggs? Also the potatoes were very flavorful, but again the meal was cold. My partner ha the biscuits and gravy with nice chorizo. In er case the combination of a flavorful chorizo with a sweet biscuit was not a good fit. The ambiance was appropriate to the theme and only a few patrons were there.
I really appreciated how receptive the servers were during my solo birthday lunch. They were attentive to when I needed my water refilled, when I just wanted to sit on my phone, when I was just gazing outside, etc. I also really appreciated that they didn't make me feel weird about having a solo birthday lunch. Food was good, but the service was lovely.
Great brunch choices. Service was spot on. Area we sat in was very warm which was uncomfortable.
My husband has been here for dinner before but this was our first time having brunch. We were really excited about the menu as it seemed to be hearty takes on classic fare. Unfortunately, the food didn't feel like it was prepared as well as it could have been. The apple cider donuts were cold and a little soggy, the bavarian pretzel was great, but we both had the open faced breakfast sandwich and there wasn't a big enough difference in textures on the sandwich for it to not feel really mushy when eating it. That said, our server Dustin was great and we would be willing to give it another go.
Had some good drinks at the bar, but the bartender spilled a shaker on my friend - cleaned it up and said sorry but did not offer to clean up her dress or her shoes. Then at the dinner table, It took it all least 30 minutes to get our first drink, and the waiter seemed disinterested and as though he had a chip on the shoulder. The food was good, but the service took so much away from the experience. Not sure I’d recommend or visit again
We sat outside on a nice day and enjoyed our salads and entrees.
I enjoyed the food but thought it was quite overpriced. Service was excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant.
Great spot for lunch out on the patio. Delicious and fresh food, nice staff.
My friend and I had different salads and the greens tasted old, dry and wilted. I would never eat there again.
Was there for a weekday breakfast, and the food was really superb. The coffee was also terrific. Definitely worth going to if you're in the area.
Had a very enjoyable meal, server was excellent, food was very good and lived up to their hype. Only complaint is that the outdoor furniture is not really sturdy.
I loved the locally sourced meals, more restaurants need to take on this trend. Relaxing atmosphere and hospitable servers, I would highly recommend it.
Expensive for the quality of food and service. Orders were mixed up, not a great attention to the minimal needs of our table....pepper for instance.
Took my parents and they can’t stop raving! Loved the salad and special bread and butter, loved the barramundi, loved the burger, loved the doughnuts- coffee was delish. We want early and it was a bit louder that I expected but it worked out fine. Dimmed the lights after my mom commented how bright it was- really nice of them:)!
Thank you for a great experience. The food was great and our waiter was perfect!
Love the interior! Healthy & Fresh! Love everything on the menu! We eat outside this time, it was really nice.
Always enjoy my time at this restaurant !
We dined outside, and everything (and everyone) was wonderful!
Yes- though I would warn about the slow service! Perhaps I would recommend going for drinks only at the bar... Our server did not seem at all concerned about our table in any regard. It was hard to flag him down to take even our drink order or get more water! It was a warm evening on the patio, water shouldn’t run dry. He never once dropped by to ask our our food was. It’s not a cheap place to eat, so the value of the food seems to greatly diminish with terrible customer service
HI have been to Farmhouse many times and always enjoyed it, but this time was a complete disaster. Our table was not ready until 25 mins after the reservation, despite there being plenty of tables - all un-bused. We waited another 20 mins for a server to come take our drink order. Apps were served and long gone by the time 4/5 drinks arrived, and then it took another 15 mins for a server to some tell us drink #5 was not coming because they were out of the whiskey. No plates or silverware was served with the apps, and no one would come help us, so I had to get up and help myself to them from the busing station....up until then, we thought it was a staffing problem. Then our wine appeared in tiny, overfilled glasses, because they apparently broke all of their regular glasses? And when the food arrived it was just horrible - my steak (the most expensive thing on the menu) was way overcooked, the gratin potatoes were a brown, dry and shriveled hockey puck, the broccoli so bitter it was inedible. My husband's salad was totally undressed...we would have complained, but no one ever came back to the table. We had to stand up for someone to come give us the bill. Maybe it was just a bad night, but I will NEVER go back.
