Farmhouse - Evanston
The menu ingredients are harvested from local farmers and change with the Midwestern seasons. Farmhouse offers locally sourced, pastured raised burgers, steaks, and poultry and makes almost everything from scratch on premise. We are a green tavern. 85% of the building materials, furniture and fixtures were salvaged from old barns in Southwestern Wisconsin and an abandoned factory on Chicago's South Side.

Food was great overall. cheese curds were amazing especially the spicy curd sauce, could drink it with a straw. The winter flatbread was over thought out. Nbd the crust was fantastic just the toppings didn’t work in my opinion. I’m not a “foodie” so that might be the rub. Service was great as usual. Beer selection was fantastic. Apple cider doughnuts rock. Love this place, you should go!
Great place with great food and service!
My son and I frequent Farmhouse often. This was the 3rd time that Jeremy was our waiter. The previous times were challenging as he would disappear and take a long time to get us a drink or our food. I thought this time we’d give him the benefit of the doubt, I was wrong. It took forever to get our food, we had to ask someone else for more water as Jeremy forgot or could not be found. When it was time to pay, I only had $100 dollar bill. The tab was $40. I expected change so that I could leave a tip which is customary to receive change with that kind of bill. We waited 10 minutes to get our change after we asked another waiter. Jeremy had said the bartender was making drinks and we had to wait for him. Well, the bartender had finished making drinks and was serving another customer at the bar. Where was Jeremy?? Finally we get the change, I was given 3 twenties. In my frustration as I had no “change” to leave a tip, we walked out. I have never not left a tip in my 50 years of existence on this earth. We will not be returning. Jeremy ruined the whole love for this restaurant.
The food was delicious and the service was great! Can’t wait to go back!
My sister and I had a fabulous dinner. We shared the smoked trout cakes, hummus with short rib and the rye panzanella salad. Plenty of food for the two of us. We still had room for a bit of ice cream. Service was great!
The duck dish seemed warmed-over, not fresh. The salad was roughly prepared. The service was unskilled.
Food well-prepared and presented.
Ingredients are definitely fresh.
First of all we requested a hightop table and didn’t get that. Then we sat there for 10 minutes before we were even offered water. Then our server came over and he was wearing pajamas! We received a “Brunch” menu at 8 in the morning and it didn’t have the whole menu. I didn’t know this until the table next to us got something that wasn’t on the menu we received. I complained but nothing could be done by then as at that point I just wanted to get out of there. Also The food was just okay
Called early in the day (New Year’s eve) to inquire about menu and hours. No mention of closing the kitchen and therefore unavailability of the dinner menu. Got there at 9 pm and was greeted by a confused fellow who didn’t understand we had placed an open table reservation. So, Ok. No big deal. But shortly after we’re told by staff that they’re closing kitchen and only the lunch menu is available. From that we ended up getting four mediocre meals and an indifferent attitude from the manager, who basically said “ too bad for you, chumps”. Never again.
Thanks for bringing your business to us on NYE. Every weekday we change from the full dinner menu to our more limited tavern menu at 9pm, which is reflected on our website and listings. If you arrived at 9pm, this was the normal menu for our service at that time. I was the manager on duty on NYE and did not speak with your table-we never want to come off as indifferent to a customer concern. If you can PM with more info, I'd like to discuss making this experience up to you.
We thought it was a nicer restaurant but we ended up sitting at a high table in what felt like a sports bar. Way overpriced for this ambiance. The NY Steak special was extremely tough and fatty. Service was only fair even though the restaurant wasn't extremely crowded.
Loved the cheese curds and extensive cider selection.
Some of the best cheese curds I’ve ever had. Great service and food.
My husband and I had a reservation and were seated promptly, but waited a while for water. Because of the delay, we placed our whole order when placing our drink order. The appetizers we received were the best part of the meal- the salads were composed of delicious and high quality ingredients. The French fries were hot and crispy and while the onion dip was great, I could not detect any onion. It was just hot cheese.
Our main courses left a little to be desired- the risotto was fine, but the pork chop arrived in tough shape. My husband literally had to saw through it with the knife and it was very dry, just about inedible. We probably won’t go back, but if we did I’d skip the main courses and get a big basket of fries and some wine.
I'm sorry about the pork chop. That should have been the highlight as it is with most diners. Unfortunately, not every chop is perfect and yours was one of the imperfect ones. I hope you can overlook that mistake and try us again. You will find that we take a lot of pride in our entire menu.
Great service good food. Love the atmosphere!
Atmosphere was great at this little restaurant attached to Hotel Orrington. Fabulous farm-to-table food, great service. Paid more than I’d like to for lunch, but really very enjoyable!
Solid 0lace but could use a menu change once in awhile. Service is always top notch. Food is great but after our 4th visit here this past few months I could use a little more variety . Just seasonal, nothing dramatic to keep me coming back
Brunch eggs were good. Server was attentive. I’ve had better breakfasts. Would have liked a few more options.
Food is good but the menu is too limited. Enjoy the beer and wine selection. Miss the fish and chips!
We came for a nostalgic experience. The food, atmosphere, and service did not disappoint.
This is the first time I have eaten here for lunch. The food and service is just as good as dinner. Creative food options with attentive and prompt service. Great place.
My meal left much to be desired...it was the duck stroganoff ...over smothered in pasta with a fairly small portion of duck. Other of our guests had ordered one veggie and one hamburger and both came with “cold” fries. Our server worked hard to make up for it and he was really good in attitude and effort.
Terrible food, Terrible service.
They were pretty chaotic and understaffed for Thanksgiving. Had to wait 45 minutes even with a reservation. Once we were seated, we didn't get much attention from the servers. However the food was very good and plentiful. Also sad that by the time we finished eating, almost no desert left and they said that they had closed the buffet. This seemed unfair because of the 45 minute wait.
Had a reservation at 5:45pm. They even called a week ahead to make sure we were there at 5:45. Then we had to wait a half hour to get seated. Waitress took forever to come to our table, then was irritated when we asked if we could order drinks. For the cost of the buffet the choices were limited. Desserts were horrible. Would not recommend at all!
We have eaten here, just two, in the past and it has been wonderful. Regrettably they have much to learn about Thanksgiving buffets. Overdone food, long waits and terrible service. Expect more for $500+
Thanksgiving buffet dinner was overbooked. We were seated 35 minlutes after our 5:00 p.m. reservation which we'd made two weeks before. They attempted to seat our party of 3 at a table for 2, which was a small space even for two. We asked for another table, which took awhile to get, but the manager was responsive and, ultimately, gave us a table for 3. The prime rib was so tough I could hardly get a steak knife through it. The turkey, only white meat, was dry. There was no actual turkey carved at the buffet. The restaurant ran out of pumpkin pie by 4:30 p.m. It was a nice looking space, but that was really the best aspect of the experience.
Thanksgiving dinner was great other than the under cooked green beans! The pork stuffing was the bomb! Also, the service was slow and we had to find places to put our plates. The roast beef, turkey, ham, and salmon were great! The horseradish sauce needed to be hotter it was bland! Spent $300.00 for 4 of us but I would go back!
The staff, dealing with hectic Thanksgiving, were outstanding. Courteous and efficient. Buffet was mostly very good but we missed dark turkey meat and a traditional bread dressing. Gravy was used to smother the not-very-good dressing. Rustic ambiance was perfect.
The Thanksgiving buffet was a delightful surprise as was our wine choices! Thank you!
I had a really great experience. It was the Thanksgiving buffet and everything was tasty and well prepared. They have a bit to learn as far as accommodating the wheelchair bound but given that the buffet service was unusual and the place was crowded, they managed to pull it off. I've eaten at their other locations and the food is always nice.
Phenomenal food- great environment
Very pleased with the fare
Will certainly be returning.
We eat here frequently. We love the food. Just ask for a table away from the windows. It can be so cold in the winter.
We eat there frequently because the location is convenient. We find the menu has something for everyone. We love the selection of beers. Good cocktails. We love it. Did I mention the cheese curds and pretzels? They make our tummies happy.
Met with family for a birthday. Drove 30 miles to come here because it’s got high ratings. There were 6 of us. We had drinks, appetizers, main course and desserts. The food and service were fair to average nothing special. We were there about 1 hour 40 minutes and about to get ready to get ready to leave when a manager came to our table and was very awkward and embarrassed to ask us to leave because they needed to turn over our table and had people waiting! We eat out frequently like most people do now days and this has never happened to us before! It was shocking. We were there for a standard amount of time. Very strange and even the manager must have known because he was so uncomfortable asking us. We definitely won’t go back and honestly it wasn’t anything special anyway.
We were seated promptly at a table we loved. Taylor, our server, was amazing! She made our evening there fantastic. The food was fabulous. We cleaned our plates! Wine tip: red wine should be served at cellar temperature. It was served too warm. But, Taylor resolved the issue. No complaint about anything. Thank you everyone!
Excellent food and great service. The dessert donuts are unreal!
Celebrated my mom's bday on a Thursday morning so it was pretty empty which was perfect! Cute EV restaurant. More room upstairs too.
I think I noted in Open Table that it was my mom's bday so the waiter greeted her which was very nice!
The waiter asked me if I was a Hilton rewards member. I wasn't sure so I looked for my reward number and waited til the server came back. I found it but when I gave it to him he said "oh we have to fill out a form at the front desk or something." So in my head I said "why did you ask for it then?"
Food: My mom's steak and eggs was delicious. I ordered an omelette - when you add 1 ingredient you have to pay 0.50 cents each. You would think a classic omelette would have the basics but this order would just be eggs and maybe cheese I think. I added 3 more more ingredients but c'mon an omelette should have your basic eggs, cheese, onions, mushroom, tomatoes, etc). I'm never ordering an omelette from this place. My husband said now this is just greed! LOL!
Our server was awesome but he went missing for awhile. The restaurant was pretty much empty - not sure why! I felt bad asking another server to step in. Our server came back almost at the end (after we asked for everything else with the other server).
The restaurant gave my mom a free ice cream dessert for her bday. Of course, this was a bonus we liked.
My rating is just "GOOD." Wish it could be better. I really wanted to like Farmhouse.
Until the bill cane we were not notified that the additions to our salad would be charge with add ons. The bill did not reflect the charges only the total did. The manager never came over to the table after we spoke the the server about this matter twice. Called and spoke to the manager after this visit and he stated that was told about the matter after we left and he can not do anything for us after the fact. Terrible customer service- management doesn’t care about their patrons.
I apologize again for the lack of direct communication regarding your bill. Our system is set up to provide several small additions to a meal, not to create completely customized dishes. We have now adjusted our printed receipts so that all charges are reflected on a check as individual items, not included in the total price of their parent item. In good faith, I offered for you to visit us again and ask for me directly so that I can take care of your next meal, which you declined.
