Farmhouse - Evanston
The menu ingredients are harvested from local farmers and change with the Midwestern seasons. Farmhouse offers locally sourced, pastured raised burgers, steaks, and poultry and makes almost everything from scratch on premise. We are a green tavern. 85% of the building materials, furniture and fixtures were salvaged from old barns in Southwestern Wisconsin and an abandoned factory on Chicago's South Side.
My friend and I ate brunch the other day at Farmhouse and it was a lovely experience. Food came out fast and was delicious! The owner even stopped by our table to give us some homemade candies and tell us about his farm! Great experience all around!
Awesome food and service
Good food and service. Great for lunch!
We had a nice brunch to celebrate our friend’s birthday and did mention it in open table, but I’m just remember
Dinner with my NU daughter and her boyfriend!
This restaurant is not very diner friendly. I had order the cheeseburger medium and also asked if I could substitute the fries with the mashed potatoes. The waitress informed me that there would be an extra charge for that. When I pointed out to her that the price was the same on the menu under "Sides" she argued that those portions are bigger than the one that is served with the cheeseburger. I did not want to argue but it begs the question of why couldn't they make the portion of mashed potatoes comparable to the portion of fries that they serve with the cheeseburger? When they brought my burger it was overcooked, more well done than medium, but I let that go too. I also did not complain when the dessert I ordered, which was the apple cider donut holes, were overcooked. I did finally speak up when the decaf coffee that I ordered was lukewarm. The waitress brought me a fresh hot cup and did not charge me the $4.00(!) for it to compensate. Which brings me to my final point which is, for the amount of money that this restaurant charges (overpriced) their service (accommodating a simple request) and cooking (how hard is it to cook a burger?!) should be impeccable, and sadly it is not.
Lunch with yummy tomato soup and very fresh salads. Not nearly as charming as our local Farm Bar, instead big and generic but food is on point and service was prompt and friendly.
Smoked Beet Reuben - to die for!!!
Very nice. Clean food. Interesting options nice vibe
When we arrived, we were led upstairs to a room I didn't even know existed. It wasn't as warm and inviting as the main restaurant, which was disappointing; it felt more like an annex that no one had bothered to decorate. However, the food was quite good, and after a large party left, it was probably a lot quieter than the main restaurant area. I would definitely go back, as I think the quality of the food is very good, and the staff was very attentive.
This place is loud and the food is just average. Giant portions at high prices do not make for great food. Service was ok...I wanted to like it. We had brunch there once, just ok,Thanksgiving dinner , just ok, and now dinner...won't be going back.
We sat at a high-top by the window in the bar, my favorite spot. Our waiter was super attentive and fun! And every one of his recommendations was spot-on. The vegetarian farro risotto was rich and delicious, just as he said. And the S'mores bread pudding was unique treat, homemade marshmallows and all! Great food and service made for a really nice evening out.
The burger was cooked well! But the Bun was NOT fresh and the fries were UNDERCOOKED. I normally always enjoy my food at Farmhouse but I was extremely disappointed. I work in the area and usually go for lunch meetings or catching up with friends but sadly I will NOT be returning!
We had a reservation and still waited about 15 min. Truly, the waiter and food were superb. Unfortunately, we were given water and noticed a white,film-type substance was floating in two of our glasses. While waiting to share this news with our waiter, our appetizer was served. Delicious. BUT, 2 of the 3 plates were dirty. Green and black specks with some type of hard residue were covering them. The waiter apologized and immediately brought new glasses, plates, and water. Food came and was delicious
Our last remembrance was the host not acknowledging us with a thank you for coming or even looking at us pleasantly, but acting a bit aloof & annoyed while pointing his finger in the direction of the Hilton Foyer (connected to the restaurant) and exclaiming rather abrupt, “Go out those doors!” The doors directly to the restaurant were locked and not accessible.
Cleanliness of plates & water F
Very disappointed in the quality of food. I fad the pork chop which was slightly overcooked and tough. My wife had the "half" chicken which was not a half of a chicken. The waitress stated that it was an "airplane chicken". Very small and no leg. It was overcooked to the point that my wife couldn't stab it with her fork. She sent it back and got through burger which was fine but the fries were cold and chewy. We will not be going back to eat here.
Excellent service. Casual, with quality, interesting food.
One of the hosts that greeted us did a great job and she was really friendly and professional.
Regarding the meal, my partner's food was under cooked. It's one thing to order a burger medium rare, it's another to see so much rawness inside that you can see the lines of the ground meat that hadn't adhered to each other yet to form a cohesive burger patty. As you may have guessed, it resulted in a long night of her on the toilet. Not exactly the Valentine's Day ending she hoped for, and definitely not the ending we expected from Farmhouse.
I do love this place but now I fear I might think twice before returning anytime too soon.
Everything was superb from the service to the food. Healthy options, as well as comfort food. For Valentine's Day they even gave us a small jar of their own farm's honey to go! Love this place, and will definitely be back.
Hamburger was mediocre. The scallop special was horrible in every sense. The wine recommended was one of the worse we’ve ever shared. The dessert was fine. I will never done there again
Great place to have dinner after a concert. It was very quiet on Sunday evening and we had a very nice meal and the service was outstanding.
Waited for quite a while to see a server who then told us nobody told him that we were there. Not very cordial. Food just ok. Many other restaurants around to suffer mediocre service
Good selection of craft brews, friendly, efficient service and solid menu. My son and I were looking for good, high quality burgers for a father-son dinner outing and this place was spot on. Have been here many times and the seasonally changing menu and it never disappoints.
A quick meal in Evanston before a musical performance nearby. The waitress was accommodating and informative ... Ruth enjoyed the Restaurant Week menu and I had their classic burger. Ruth enjoyed their house brand hard cider and I had a Charlatan IPA. The cider donut desert is not to be missed !!!
Great fresh options, efficient and polite service in a great atmosphere for meeting friends or business associates.
Excellent food and service. We will be back. Enjoyed shopping in downtown Evanston also.
The food and service was outstanding will come back again
Although I tipped well, I thought the service was inattentive re: follow up on drinks, etc.
Also, I do not understand why we were shoved on the second floor when there were available tables on the main floor.
Very tasty brunch offerings. We went for Restaurant Week and were very pleased with the experience!
Great fresh ingredients. Friendly yet non-invasive service.
Everything was excellent! The food was very promptly served and was delicious!
We had a lovely and attentive server and the food was amazing
Really liked the Farmhouse! We sat in the "pickle room" which was separate and quiet. The food was great - I got the Farro Risotto and my friends got hamburgers and salmon. All looked and tasted great. The service was friendly, timely and appropriate. Will return!
We LOVE Farmhouse Evanston and we dine there frequently. The fried cheese curds are great with one of their many locally brewed beers.
Food was great overall. cheese curds were amazing especially the spicy curd sauce, could drink it with a straw. The winter flatbread was over thought out. Nbd the crust was fantastic just the toppings didn’t work in my opinion. I’m not a “foodie” so that might be the rub. Service was great as usual. Beer selection was fantastic. Apple cider doughnuts rock. Love this place, you should go!
Great place with great food and service!
My son and I frequent Farmhouse often. This was the 3rd time that Jeremy was our waiter. The previous times were challenging as he would disappear and take a long time to get us a drink or our food. I thought this time we’d give him the benefit of the doubt, I was wrong. It took forever to get our food, we had to ask someone else for more water as Jeremy forgot or could not be found. When it was time to pay, I only had $100 dollar bill. The tab was $40. I expected change so that I could leave a tip which is customary to receive change with that kind of bill. We waited 10 minutes to get our change after we asked another waiter. Jeremy had said the bartender was making drinks and we had to wait for him. Well, the bartender had finished making drinks and was serving another customer at the bar. Where was Jeremy?? Finally we get the change, I was given 3 twenties. In my frustration as I had no “change” to leave a tip, we walked out. I have never not left a tip in my 50 years of existence on this earth. We will not be returning. Jeremy ruined the whole love for this restaurant.
Daughter’s last night before heading back to college
The food was delicious and the service was great! Can’t wait to go back!
My sister and I had a fabulous dinner. We shared the smoked trout cakes, hummus with short rib and the rye panzanella salad. Plenty of food for the two of us. We still had room for a bit of ice cream. Service was great!
The duck dish seemed warmed-over, not fresh. The salad was roughly prepared. The service was unskilled.
