About Farmhouse - Chicago
Farmhouse is a Midwestern Craft Tavern focused on delivering warm hospitality, great beer and wonderful food in a comfortable neighborhood setting in the heart of River North. Focused on the Midwest, Farmhouse offers 28 beers on draft, 24 from Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan. We feature local artisanal liquors and a cocktail program created by Adam Seger.
The menu ingredients are harvested from local farmers and change with the Midwestern seasons. Farmhouse offers locally sourced, pastured raised burgers, cuts their our own fries and makes almost everything from scratch on premise. We are a green tavern. 85% of the building materials, furniture and fixtures were salvaged from an abandoned factory on the South Side.

Farmhouse - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
This place is definitely a find. Great food, good presentation, excellent service, an interesting drinks menu and very qualified bartenders. The owner stopped by our table to add a personal touch. Very lively atmosphere. We sat at a table with strangers and had a great time. We did not try the ciders, but our new friends did and they looked quite interesting and tasty. The price is right for the food quality and service. We will definitely go back.
This is our favorite spot for cheese curds! They are delicious, very lightly fried and gooey in the middle. Served with a sweet BBQ sauce and homemade spicy ranch.. they're the best; we first found them at taste of River North and had to go to the source! The rest of the menu is never a disappointment. The ingredients are fresh and the chef blends them delicately in innovative takes on classic comfort food favorites. Chicken soup is my boyfriend's favorite. The duck confit Weiner Schnitzel with warm French fry salad was fabulous. I was hesitant about the salad, but it was surprisingly delicious.
Every dish we ordered from the pub pretzel to the house salad to the pork, chicken and duck, was exceptionally good. All the food tasted fresh and the service was great without being overbearing. Our only slight complaint is that it was cold (we were seated near the door), but it was a small price to pay for a really nice experience overall.
Food was interesting, well presented and quite a surprise. My wife enjoyed her Amish chicken and my daughters liked their beef short ribs on mac n' cheese. Service by Brendan was first rate. It's well located a few blocks off the Magnificent Mile, literally under the Chicago Avenue el stop. On-street parking was a breeze and we had no problem reaching LSD and the expressways. Their farm-to-table appeal is a winner!
The hand crafted cocktails were great, the Squash & Greens salad was really good and large enough to split. the Beef Shortrib Mac & Cheese was richly delicious. The Indiana Duck Breast Schnitzel was very tasty. Portions were large enough so that we had leftovers to take home and enjoy again! Wine selection was adequate and the dessert menu could use an expansion. Not much to choose from on the dessert menu, but the Plum Almond Tart with vanilla ice cream was really good. Looking forward to a return visit to try more dishes.
We shared the flatbread for the table and it was somewhat burnt around the edges and they had a sauce on it that was sweet. Total disconnect. It had over cooked eggs on it and bad tasting sausage. The cheese curds were the best thing we ate. The ham was really strong flavored and my guest couldn’t eat it on her Benedict. The others had farmers egg with bacon so they didn’t have to deal with the sausage. They liked the potatoes. There are so many good brunch places so this one did not impress and we all agreed we wouldn’t be coming back.
Found this gem by chance and were delighted with our experience. The ambiance, food, and service were all outstanding. We enjoyed a crafted cocktail to start along with some cheese curds. The short rib Mac and cheese is sinfully delicious. It’s quite large, so we split that to save room for the plum tart. Yum!
Loved this place! We were looking for good food after running the marathon the previous day and wanted to enjoy drinks as well. Our server helped explain the menu well and we even stayed after eating to enjoy more drinks. The atmosphere wasn't overwhelming as some farm to tables get due to the size of the buildings. We sat closer to the bar and didn't notice it was more noisy. Waiter was awesome and even chatted with us when his shift ended. We got the cheese curds (yummy), beers, the burger (divine) and the grilled cheese and soup. All came out promptly and cooked as asked. We will come back when visiting Chicago next time.
Farmhouse was a great dining experience! Lots of energy. Two of us had the steak--the aioli and vegetables that accompanied the steak were wonderful. Steak was cooked perfectly. The third person in our party had the char which was very good. Served with cauliflower and a great sauce. Also had the side of Brussels which were good although could have been cooked just a little longer. Attentive and knowledgeable server.
Really enjoyed the brunch. The table ordered the cheese curds to start. Delish with the ranch dressing with a kick. I dig a brunch burger, which was actually served the medium temperature I ordered :). The French fries had the perfect crisp to them. As good as the fries were, my hope of substituting for a side salad or fries was not met. We all had the pink mimosas, which was rose heavy, in a good way. Id recommend the place.
Food was great! My husband and I went there for brunch and I loved that the menu was not one of those giant brunch menus. They had a great number of options and everything was delicious. We are also vegetarian and had no problem finding something we’d like.
I had the short ribs and mac and cheese and the meat was perfect, the mac and cheese was good. My friend had the duck breast schnitzel and would not order it again. A waste of a good duck. More breading than duck. Seemed a very "fast food" treatment for duck.
Went for Sunday brunch; we made a late morning res, but wasn't necessary as the place almost, but not quite, filled up. Decor is Recycled Rust Belt, inviting and fairly comfortable. Menu has changed from the one posted here. I enjoyed a Bloody Mary and some Fried Cheese Curds, followed by Veggie Hash. Mary was quite spicy, and wouldn't be to everyone's taste. Best-ever curds are greasy comfort food, stringy when hot, highly filling and beyond yummy. "Hash" was out of this world, with a couple of sunny side up eggs on a bed of potatoes, corn, green beans, slightly-hot red peppers, squash and more. All the veggies were perfectly cooked and flavored.
I went here for a business lunch. We were sat towards the back - it's a bit darker back there but overall the space was very inviting. I was having a bigger dinner than evening so I opted for a salad, although I was slightly nervous since they're known for burgers & sandwiches. The salad was absolutely amazing - I ordered the Beets & Greens salad. It had the right amount of everything - beets, fruit, dressing, etc. We also ordered the cheese curds - mostly because I heard they are amazing & they did not disappoint. Closest I've had to any in Wisconsin. Definitely recommend this place.
This was actually my third time at Farmhouse. I've never been disappointed with the food and am lucky to always get very good service. I also enjoy that the menu is always a little different each visit, being a farm to table restaurant. I ordered the house Old Fashioned cocktail. It was a good strong drink, but very easy to sip. In fact I ended up having two. We had the cheese curds which I get every visit. Always fried cheese deliciousness with two different sauces, a home made ketchup and a spicy creamy sauce. We also had the shishito peppers, which were very tasty and every so often there was a spicy one. Just as they are supposed to be. For my entree I had the steak which was perfectly cooked and accompanied with several kinds of vegetables. My friend had the burger which wasn't cooked as much as she liked, but admitted she really liked it. I think that was clever of the kitchen. You can always add more heat to it if necessary. Once again they served us a wonderful meal. I will certainly be back for a fourth time and probably more.
