Focused on the Midwest, Farmhouse offers 28 beers on draft, 24 from Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan. We feature local artisanal liquors and a cocktail program created by Adam Seger.
The menu ingredients are harvested from local farmers and change with the Midwestern seasons. Farmhouse offers locally sourced, pastured raised burgers, cuts their our own fries and makes almost everything from scratch on premise. We are a green tavern. 85% of the building materials, furniture and fixtures were salvaged from an abandoned factory on the South Side.

Farmhouse - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
We really enjoyed our brunch at Farmhouse! The food and coffee were both very tasty. The root vegetable hash could have been bland, but instead was spicy and full of flavor.
The only thing I would change is where we sat! We were right next to a window with the sun shining directly through and I felt like an ant under a magnifying glass for our entire meal.
Went here with a friend for a quick brunch, 11AM on a Saturday. We had a reservation so no wait to get seated. It definitely got more crowded as we left (around 12:15PM). The food was delicious, but a little cold. Not sure if that was how it was supposed to be served but I was so hungry it didn't bother me too much!
Love this place! My second time here and although I loved what I had the first time (beef short rib mac and cheese) I wanted to try something else. Our waiter suggested the pork chop and boy was he spot on. It was delicious and huge. The other people in our group both ordered the duck schnitzel and they too were blown away, it was that good. Definitely going back to try other tasty dishes.
I've been to Farmhouse a few times, both in Chicago and in Evanston, and its always a great meal! Their menu is diverse with good options for all, including my vegetarian sister and my meat loving boyfriend. Prices are similar to other restaurants in the area but I feel less bad about spending the money sine they use farm fresh ingredients and but a lot of care into their dishes. Definitely try the cheese curds!
Really loved eating at Farmhouse. I had an AMAZING salad that I haven't stopped thinking about with the most tender grass fed steak on top. Beer list was great, and we saw the bartender making some really cool looking cocktails. Definitely make a reservation; we had an 8pm and ended up waiting until 8:20. The bartender was so apologetic though, and gave us a free appetizer. Its a small space, cozy with tables very close to one another. We sat at a community table with a few chairs between us and the other couple sitting there. Definitely not a place to be romantic, but a fun date or friends get together spot. Love that they source local ingredients. Staff was great; I think the hostess was dead tired from working but she was so sweet and apologetic about us having to wait.
Good comfort food- rich and filling.
We felt a bit rushed. Wait staff was quick to ask to clear plates. They dropped one of our entrees so we had to wait for them to make another one. Forgot some of our drinks.
Overall it was mediocre. Not dying to return.
This place is definitely a find. Great food, good presentation, excellent service, an interesting drinks menu and very qualified bartenders. The owner stopped by our table to add a personal touch. Very lively atmosphere. We sat at a table with strangers and had a great time. We did not try the ciders, but our new friends did and they looked quite interesting and tasty. The price is right for the food quality and service. We will definitely go back.
This is our favorite spot for cheese curds! They are delicious, very lightly fried and gooey in the middle. Served with a sweet BBQ sauce and homemade spicy ranch.. they're the best; we first found them at taste of River North and had to go to the source! The rest of the menu is never a disappointment. The ingredients are fresh and the chef blends them delicately in innovative takes on classic comfort food favorites. Chicken soup is my boyfriend's favorite. The duck confit Weiner Schnitzel with warm French fry salad was fabulous. I was hesitant about the salad, but it was surprisingly delicious.
Every dish we ordered from the pub pretzel to the house salad to the pork, chicken and duck, was exceptionally good. All the food tasted fresh and the service was great without being overbearing. Our only slight complaint is that it was cold (we were seated near the door), but it was a small price to pay for a really nice experience overall.
Food was interesting, well presented and quite a surprise. My wife enjoyed her Amish chicken and my daughters liked their beef short ribs on mac n' cheese. Service by Brendan was first rate. It's well located a few blocks off the Magnificent Mile, literally under the Chicago Avenue el stop. On-street parking was a breeze and we had no problem reaching LSD and the expressways. Their farm-to-table appeal is a winner!
The hand crafted cocktails were great, the Squash & Greens salad was really good and large enough to split. the Beef Shortrib Mac & Cheese was richly delicious. The Indiana Duck Breast Schnitzel was very tasty. Portions were large enough so that we had leftovers to take home and enjoy again! Wine selection was adequate and the dessert menu could use an expansion. Not much to choose from on the dessert menu, but the Plum Almond Tart with vanilla ice cream was really good. Looking forward to a return visit to try more dishes.
We shared the flatbread for the table and it was somewhat burnt around the edges and they had a sauce on it that was sweet. Total disconnect. It had over cooked eggs on it and bad tasting sausage. The cheese curds were the best thing we ate. The ham was really strong flavored and my guest couldn’t eat it on her Benedict. The others had farmers egg with bacon so they didn’t have to deal with the sausage. They liked the potatoes. There are so many good brunch places so this one did not impress and we all agreed we wouldn’t be coming back.
Found this gem by chance and were delighted with our experience. The ambiance, food, and service were all outstanding. We enjoyed a crafted cocktail to start along with some cheese curds. The short rib Mac and cheese is sinfully delicious. It’s quite large, so we split that to save room for the plum tart. Yum!
Loved this place! We were looking for good food after running the marathon the previous day and wanted to enjoy drinks as well. Our server helped explain the menu well and we even stayed after eating to enjoy more drinks. The atmosphere wasn't overwhelming as some farm to tables get due to the size of the buildings. We sat closer to the bar and didn't notice it was more noisy. Waiter was awesome and even chatted with us when his shift ended. We got the cheese curds (yummy), beers, the burger (divine) and the grilled cheese and soup. All came out promptly and cooked as asked. We will come back when visiting Chicago next time.
Farmhouse was a great dining experience! Lots of energy. Two of us had the steak--the aioli and vegetables that accompanied the steak were wonderful. Steak was cooked perfectly. The third person in our party had the char which was very good. Served with cauliflower and a great sauce. Also had the side of Brussels which were good although could have been cooked just a little longer. Attentive and knowledgeable server.
