Farmhouse - Chicago
The menu ingredients are harvested from local farmers and change with the Midwestern seasons. Farmhouse offers locally sourced, pastured raised burgers, cuts their our own fries and makes almost everything from scratch on premise. We are a green tavern. 85% of the building materials, furniture and fixtures were salvaged from an abandoned factory on the South Side.
Some of the seating at Farmhouse consists of community tables, seating between eight and ten guests, encouraging a convivial atmosphere. Please be aware that smaller parties are sometimes seated at community tables.

We will be offering a Tavern Menu from 3-4pm Saturday and Sundays.
Farmhouse Tavern is a Midwestern Craft Tavern specializing in local food and drink. We are a farm to tavern restaurant, making all of our own burgers, condiments, and sodas from scratch. I liked the simple menu they had...not overwhelming. To me, that is important. Each entree that we had at our table was delicious and fresh. I liked the cider flight that they offered. I thought the prices were reasonable because the ingredients used to make entree was fresh.... not mass produced.
Wonderful atmosphere and incredible food. Also a very creative cocktail menu.
Fresh flavorful amazing food! The staff was great and the drinks were perfectly crafted! Best old fashioned ever! Would go there every day for a meal!
Cheese curds were amazing
Great for Brunch!
This was a last minute reservation on our last night in Chicago. It did not disappoint. Service was great. Food superb and fresh. Perfect portions. Great local beer selection. We did find the speaker system for the music could be improved upon- the sound was a bit tinny. We would go back in a heartbeat!
Birthday and anniversary dinner before seeing Hamilton
Awesome experience with great food
Great meal. Casual and fun environment. Cider sangria was amazing.
We went on a date when it was super hot and the air conditioning was minimal at best. People were sweating inside the restaurant. Other than that, it was a positive experience.
Drinks and food was delish! Small menu. Outside seating was loud & stinky :/
Farmhouse has a great menu of local food that gets updated often. Great craft beer menu and other beverages. I take customer's here all the time that are in the area and would recommend it to any one.
Farmhouse never disappoints. Their flight of proprietary ciders is worth the trip. The food is local and delicious.
Great vegetarian choices. Excellent service! I visit Chicago often and always try to fit in lunch here.
If you are looking for unpretentious, good food in a relaxed, authentic environment, this is the place to find it.
Food fantastic, especially the pork chop. Service was a bit on the slow side, took about 10 minutes to take drink order after sitting down. I came after work- I’d like a glass of wine please!
Great service and attentive staff. The house cider is incredible and I recommend a flight to try different types. The cheese curds are also out of this world. But other than that the food was actually bad. Fries and bacon were undercooked and not crispy at all.
Fantastic, fresh food
Great locally sourced food, unique atmosphere
The food here is mediocre at best. My friend ordered the pork chop. It was a huge serving but it was mostly bone and fat. My friend complained that it was not seasoned well. I ordered the veggie burger which was okay but not great. This is not a horrible restaurant but there are so many places that are better in Chicago that I would not waste my time going again.
Went there with a friend after work. I’ve heard good things about the place and it’s walking distance from work so we decided to give it a try. Service was superb. She was knowledgeable, even giddy talking about food, which we appreciate and enjoy.
Cheese curds were fantastic, you can’t go wrong with fried cheese.
My fiend had the short ribs, which she enjoyed. I had the burger. It was good, nothing spectacular, something you can do at home. Fries were ok.
Overall we had a good time.
Food was disappointing. Not enough bar staff...waited forever for cocktails
Great drinks, I suggest the house Old Fashioned. The food was ok. My steak was cold and chewy. Also, our server was fairly slow.
We were not fans of the tall chair seating and close proximity to other tables, but otherwise it was great. Some of the best service we’ve had in Chicago and excellent food!
My Bibb lettuce salad stood out outer my entree (lamb shank— it was a bit tough and I didn’t like the flavor). On the positive side, the service was friendly and the wine was fine. Noisy.
Jamie was awesome!!!
Excellent food and good service. Cider from their farm is a nice option to wine. Strong farm to table elements. Creative menu items. My cod was on a bed of spring pea puree and spring peas plus three types of mushrooms and most unusual, red beans. Love bean but have never had this type with cod. Almost did not order it but am most happy that I did. The Marjolaine dessert was also excellent. Moist.
Can't believe that I have been driving by this place for years and have never gone in.
Will definitely return
Great food, pleasant and informal surroundings. Despite online descriptions of long communal tables, there are several tables for two. Excellent service, too. A must whenever we’re in Chicago.
Dinner was delicious! Portions are very large; the quality is outstanding. Reasonable prices.
Food is great, kitchen got seriously behind. Definitely worth another try.
Didn’t know quite what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the server was very pleasant. Just to note- not all of the tables are communal and there are steps to the upstairs dining room that are a bit steep. Easily found parking in Franklin.
I hadn't been here before but will definitely go back, especially for a business lunch. I got the half salad half chicken soup and it was fantastic! I ordered the Midwestern Spring Salad - fantastic flavor and creative textures with spring veggies like radish and asparagus. The chicken soup is apparently a regular specialty of the house and didn't disappoint. Very chunky and good broth, and they didn't scrimp on the chicken. My tablemates liked their dishes as well. We shared a side of fries, served w/garlic aoli as well as ketchup, and they didn't disappoint.
food was a huge disappointment
Very surprised. Quaint yet adorable place. Has two levels and outside seating. Nice selection of cocktails. We'll definitely go back
Anniversary (34 years).
Have been to Evanston before, loved the food and ambience. This time in Chicago we sat outside, where buses pulled up frequently and several times, loud drunk people walked by or tried to sit down. Not sure I would do that again. The inside looked kinda ordinary.
We were seated right away, and ordered our dinner. 70 minutes later, we still had no food. When we finally found our waiter to ask, he was rude and unapologetic. Never going back.
Farmhouse is awesome. food is amazing and the service top notch. I think most people are surprised at how good the food is at such a comfortable unassuming place.
Coming from portland oregon where we eat a little cleaner than Chicago (and I don’t mean that in an uppity way) this was a nice compromise for my son (a solid meat eater) and I. Enough choices to eat lighter, but still meat options. Food was great! Great atmosphere and welcoming decor. Definitely recommend!
Everything was amazing for brunch, shout out to Paige for being awesome! Loved the Bavarian pretzel and steak and eggs. Highly recommend!
