Farmhouse Kitchen + Bar
Prime Filet 8oz, Broccolini, White Truffle Fries, Chimichurri Sauce
Admittedly, a bit unfair to review a restaurant based on a Prix Fixe Mother's Day menu in the early aftermath of COVID. But here goes. Context: $60 per person without booze. The steak was excellent- more than ample (3 x certified carnivores had more than they could eat) and perfectly cooked The pork chop could have been more tender though like-wise ample and flavorful. The Eggs Benedict was good, if not inspired, but felt lonely and insubstantial on a large plate with no accompaniment outside of the main, other than a single sprig of lavender. The appetizer (only appetizer on offer), a 16" charcuterie plate split amongst 5 of us, was decent ... some flashes of brilliance here and there ... but looked hastily thrown together and seemed meagre for 5 - much variety but spare portions of everything. Malbec (in particular) and Sauvignon Blanc by the glass were fresh tasting and excellent. Our server was a stone-cold pro. Pleasant. Knowledgeable. Competent. Clear. Very accommodating when it came to a couple of Moms indulging in some substitutions. Bottom line: This particular event was not great value-for-money but it feels like they have the tools to succeed and I think will find their stride as the thaw continues. Very convenient location so I'll be back and I'll be rooting for them.
First time at the new Farmhouse Kitchen and Bar. From receptionist to ambiance, to menu selection and service my wife and I thought everything was excellent.
We will return soon.
Service and food were excellent.
Just ok. Service was very friendly and space is attractive but food is overpriced and mediocre. Had the lobster roll and was easily the worst I’ve had on this trip. Scallops were overcooked and tasted old
What a pleasure to see this old favorite revitalized and transformed into a new gem! Great variety and creativity in the menu. Cozy but sophisticated decor. Warm, friendly, well informed staff. This is my new go-to spot!
We loved our stay at Shelter Harbor Inn. The Inn is quaint, set on beautiful property with a few fire pits. Unfortunately do to Covid they were not operational. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. The service was fantastic and the meal was delicious. Good wine options as well. The continental breakfast is amazing. It consists of an oatmeal parfait made with almond milk, a fresh fruit cup, breakfast burrito, and a selection of breads and muffins. It's a hearty breakfast!
Had a wonderful experience- 2 adults and 4 kids ages 11 to 2. They put us in a private dining room- which was great. Waitress was so sweet and very patient. Food was delicious- looked like a great drink/wine menu also. Absolutely LOVED the decor, I could’ve walked around looking at the furniture and details all night (maybe in a post-COVID world). Very friendly staff all around- a very enjoyable dinner experience all around, will definitely be back minus kids!
A new owner took over a while back, pre-Covid!!! Newly renovated cozy but sophisticated interior, friendly staff, new chef, and a great new attitude has returned this spot to the gem it once was! Plenty of outdoor seating, great wines and an all new menu! Bravo!!!
We love Shelter Harbor, but this visit was a bit disappointing food-wise. The menu was set, but with very limited choices, and we didn't feel the meal was worth $40/person. The setting is gorgeous and we have eaten there before and loved it. Unfortunately Easter brunch laid an egg for us....
Nice experience Great Place Delicious food. Family enjoyed be at the Igloo!
Restaurant was seriously understaffed. No bus service. Waitress was spread out over at least 2 dining areas. We waited at least 15 minutes to order cocktails. We got drinks and ordered dinner. We noticed people around us who came
After us we’re being served. We ordered drinks
And 3 of the 4 were delivered to the table. The 4 th, a glass of wine sat on the bar a good 10 minutes before the waitress surfaced and we flagged her. Dinner was at least 20-25 minute wait and one order was completely wrong. So more waiting. Overall
Excellent night. We had 8 people for a special celebration and it was just wonderful. Good food, great drinks and the Inn is absolutely charming.
Chicken "marsala" dish was not marsala based , it was flavorful but not what I was looking for.(some kind of "aromatic" spice? ) The chowder needed a bit more flavor- something was missing- since I have had the chowder before and it was excellent.
Service this night was a little off ordering wine was an issue out of 2 we wanted hoping things get better as it becomes busier.
Overall quaint spot and hoping to come again as we live in area
Nice weekend getaway. dinner was good and service a bit slow but overall experience was positive
Very pleasant evening, exceeded expectations. Will go back!
Stayed overnight and ate at the Inn. Great room, comfortable bed, very clean, staff were great especially Bailey and Macy. Would love to come back!!
Service was excellent. Unfortunately the strip steak two of us ordered was tough and si
Food was very good. Service was also food - our server Macy was very nice and super attentive.
Entree portion size was a little on the small side - my only reason for a 4 rating on value. Appetizer portions were very generous.
Great atmosphere and good spacing following all Covid guidelines. We felt very safe and really enjoyed our evening.
My pork chop was wonderful. My friend's beef was tough. Wait staff was perfect.
After months of hunkering down we decided to give Shelter Harbor a try back in February. We had not been there since it opened last year. We had a great meal and that prompted us to return again. As before we are not disappointed by our experience. Great food and Great people! Keep it up.
Wonderful ambiance and nice people but they have quite a ways to go to match the quality of food at the previous Shelter Harbor. Great atmosphere, very friendly service, good drinks, but food is average at best for Westerly area.
Kitchen was a tad slow and needed another waitress on. Everyone was very nice.
Kathleen is an excellent, reliable, friendly, efficient and professional server. She has been bravely and consistently working within the rules of pandemic social protocols. I am sure all the while smiling under her mask as she greets her customers.
The Chef masters his dishes with excellent flavors and just the right amount of spice and heat. The servings are plenty for a man and enough for a woman to take home her remaining meal. Can't say enough about the food. We have tried almost everything on the menu without a disappointment.
I recommend the cabernet choice, by the glass, on the menu.
The entire staff from the beginning at the front end seating us, the professional bartender and all working in the kitchen and helping our server should be congratulated and honored for keeping the restaurant in high standards with a friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend you try Shelter Harbor.
Great place for a nice, relaxing evening... good food, great service, great ambiance.
During Covid, this has been one of my go to places... always felt very safe and comfortable.
We came for the Valentines evening dinner specials. Although several tables in the restaurant were empty the entire time we were there, our table was right outside the door to the kitchen. I understand the struggle with social distancing but there seem to be so many other options that that started us off on the wrong foot. Our server was lovely, very kind and helpful. We both ordered the surf and turf. This was advertised as hand cut filet mignon and poached lobster. What we got was barely 2 1/2 ounces of fillet, over cooked and one shriveled lobster claw per person. Such a disappointment! It look like the claws were removed from a lobster, my husband got the slightly bigger one, I got the smaller one. And that was considered surf and turf? Very bad advertising, misleading and so disappointing. Won’t be going back
Hadn't been here since
the place had been bought and refurbished. We found it very inviting and enjoyed our Valentine evening meal. The food was expertly prepared, delivered nice and hot and attractive. We will return to enjoy another meal.
Nice ambiance. Restaurant has been totally remodeled and they did a nice job. Service was great, staff is very friendly. Food is not quality of old Shelter Harbor but was good.
Had a nice evening and will definitely give them another visit.
It really is a beautiful place inside. We sat right by the fireplace. The service was phenomenal. Friendly and gracious host, attentive and friendly waitress, and another waiter kept tending to the fire. It was so easy to be comfortable and relaxed. I just think they need to kick the food up a notch. Dont get me wrong. It was good. I was just expecting more.
The food was amazing and so was my massage! It was quaint and the hospitality was great!
The Shelter Harbor Inn offered us an excellent dining experience. The food was scrumptious, the service attentive, and the atmosphere wonderful -they lit a fire for us, and we had the room mostly to ourselves. The menu is varied: one of us had the porterhouse special, the other crabcakes; we started with a pureed white bean soup (excellent); and the chocolate mousse for dessert was perfect (although too much for us to finish!). A great night out.
The food was average to poor (pasta was pasty), pork chop tasteless. We had after dinner drinks, I heard the waitress go into the kitchen and ask if anyone knew how to mix drinks. I later see her and the bus boy mixing our drinks. Needless to say they were terrible. The waitress asked if we liked them, we said no but she never offered to take off the bill. This was the first time back in years and won't be back again.
Great food, service and ambiance.
Great service & food. Cozy table by the fireplace. Felt very safe & clean
I've never been disappointed here. The food and environment is always good. Lovely place for a nice special dinner.
Favorite Spot Mazy and Kathleen are great servers. Would recommend for a causal night out.
Great food, had a lovely conversation with our waitress. Great spot in scenic Westerly, RI.
Great atmosphere. Good food, excellent service. We keep going back.
