Farmers Fishers Bakers
The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.
We went for a Sunday brunch buffett not realizing it was $32 per person which I think is ridiculous, no matter how good the food is (and it is!) Few people eat $32 worth. Not even my 19 year old college freshman son.
Overall there are better brunches in DC. My husband wanted to try it so I gave it another try. The food was ok. Not a lot of choices for brunch and very carb heavy. We had asked for a different table and were not accommodated since we were just 2. The booth went unused the entire time we were there. We won’t be back for brunch.
I love coming here for brunch! I do wish that they would keep everything a little more stocked and that the pass arounds would start a little bit earlier, but all in all it's a great place for brunch!
We had a wonderful experience here. We went for a holiday brunch and the food was fantastic! There were so many food options and we could only try a fraction of them. I highly recommend their brunch. We hope to go again for dinner.
It seems like every time I return the quality goes down. The crab dip barely has any crab, you literally have to ask for the food plates that are supposed to be passed around and even then its rare to see a server with a plate, the main dishes are luke warm. Also, they don't offer bottomless mimosas yet they pour the $9 mimosa (which the charge $11) as if you should be happy to pay the price of the bottle they use for only 1/16 of the actual champagne in your glass.
The start to our meal was good enough - tuna tartare & New England clam chowder. Both were fresh and very tasty. The tuna tartare was unevenly drizzled with ponzu so one side was a bit too salty, but otherwise we enjoyed it.
The meal went downhill after that. The entrees were incredibly disappointing. My boyfriend ordered the blackened catfish, which was overly seasoned and super salty. The texture was weird too - crisp on the outside, but undercooked inside.
I had the “jambalaya”... if you can even call it that? There was no Cajun seasoning or any spices in it. The dish was pure rice boiled in seafood broth, then topped with mussels, scallops, shrimp, lettuce, and... radishes? Overall an odd combination (& I was lucky enough to get one spoiled mussel).
I wish I’d told the server we disliked our dishes because the customer service was great and they likely would have gotten us other options.
Oh well... I definitely will not be returning anyway.
The wait time was a little long. They also ran out of appetizer options by 8pm. We really enjoyed the atmosphere.. We will return in hopes of trying those appetizers.. The water was great. Thanks
We sat at the bar and the service was very subpar in the beginning but after about 15-20 minutes of waiting for menus/drinks we finally got new waitress and she took care of us. The food was great just wish the service was better.
My birthday! Overall, they did provide the level of service we have come to expect. During brunch they typically bring around additional items such as fried shrimp. We saw them offer those items to other tables, but not ours. E left without a single offer outside the buffet. Very disappointing.
We had a 12:30 pm reservation but did not get seated until 1pm. Strike 1. We waited an incredibly long time for our drink orders. Strike 2. The waitress charged our cards incorrect amounts. Strike 3.
I am so sad to see the quality of Farmers, Fishers Bakers’ brunch experience go so significantly down over the years. If you asked me two years ago, I would have said it was my favorite brunch in the city. Our most recent experience there however was unexpectedly poor.
Our server took our beverage menu multiple times even though we kept saying that we wanted it for the cocktail list, and then seemed like he was frustrated with us after that.
We asked for fried shrimp early on and were told “that will be coming around, but if not I will check on it for you”. After about 30 minutes, we asked again and then we were able to get a plate.
Randomly while we were eating, two servers walked by talking to each other, and one of them swore using the “f” word, which didn’t offend me but I felt it was unprofessional.
The buffet itself was actually very messy, which I have never witnessed before. Only about half of the items were actually out, and the rest were waiting to be filled. The meats (pork belly, ham etc) were not cut all the way through but put out on platters, so we had to ask one of the staff to cut them. The eggs were also cold, although I will say I have noticed that consistently since I started coming here several years ago.
All in all, the food quality was poor in comparison to most of the brunch options that are now available in DC, and the service was the poorest I have experienced here thus far. My party and I left our reservation for the first time stating that we truly didn’t have a desire to come back again, which saddens me. Hopefully this was just a random bad experience that will not hold true for others.
This review is just for the Sunday brunch. We have enjoyed the brunch at FFB several times in the past couple of years, and hoped to do so again. However, the experience was definitely less than stellar, and we won't be returning. The buffet no longer offers grilled vegetables, and has fewer options for those who do not eat meat. Hash browns were undercooked. Our server forgot to ask if we were interested in the shrimp and pizza which was being offered - the shrimp were very heavily breadcrumbed, and so tough that they were hard to chew, while the pizza was undercooked and tasteless. After the initial query as to what we would like to drink, to which we responded, "Not right now", we were not offered beverages.
The brunch buffet food quality was not very good. It’s much better when ordering directly from the menu.
The foods was great. Only complaint is that we’re out of towners and didn’t realize you couldn’t order cocktails till 10 o’clock and weren’t able to get drinks with our food.
It was amazing as always. The service and food never disappoint.
Food was excellent. I would definitely go there again. I had to take an earlier reservation time than I would have preferred because it was so busy.
The food was good, but the service horrible. From the time we sat down, it took 1/2 hour to order our food. I'm not sure how long it would have taken the food to come out since we spoke to the manager after we ordered our food. The manager made sure our food was out in 15 minutes and sent a complimentary assortment of dessert to our table at the end of our meal.
Great selection of food! We got the spicy fried chicken sandwich, the Margare which were all amazing,
It was a perfect way for me and my hunny to spend Valentine's day! We thoroughly enjoyed.
Wait service was awful just like their sister restaurant. It doesn’t matter how bad their service is they feel they are privileged to receive the max and when they don’t they complain about it in front of the customers! How about provide half way decent service first?
Seated 20 minutes after our reservation. Normally I wouldn't care, but we watched two different couples walk in after us who were seated before us. At the table, the app came out quickly, but there were no plates. Our drinks came out about 10 minutes after the app. Water was not provided until we were about half way through our entrees. Overall, very disappointing dining experience.
The food was good but it was extremely over crowded where they had us sitting. There were at least 20+ 2 person tables which was extremely crowded and made the dinner experience uncomfortable.
The crab dip was by far the best thing about our experience. The service at the bar was slow.
The food was ok. Nothing outstanding. I would rate the total experience as average.
Usually a great meal, but the steak was cooked four different ways throughout and my enchilada was very bland and dry
I was really disappointed in the food. I went to FFB in December for a team lunch and everything was delicious so I thought it would be an excellent choice for Galentine’s. However, from the pretzel to the loaded baked potato, the entire meal was lukewarm/cold. We sent the pretzel back but when my entree came out that was cold too, I just felt bad having to make another complaint. My friend had the honey chicken which was basically the fried chicken with honey drizzle on it. She didn’t like her meal so she barely touched it. I may give this place another try but it will be awhile and certainly not at dinner time.
Hi Nique: I am so sorry to read the food during your most recent visit fell short, and a majority of items were sadly lacking in preparation & left something to be desired. :( With this acknowledged, I would love the chance to touch base and hopefully turn around the poor impression you left with! I will send you a personal note with my email address to connect further. -Amy
The place was a bit noisy I couldn’t hear the person next to me.
Having had great experience at Distillers, Founders, and brunch at Bakers we wanted to try dinner here. Our crab & artichoke dip was tasty and so were the pepper wings that, unfortunately, were luke warm and sent back. I had the jambalaya topped w/pulled pork & ribs. She had the fish fry (shrimp, crab cake, white fish). For some reason her fries were omitted. We had a 4:30 reservation and it was not packed so we were puzzled at the mistakes by the kitchen. Both entrees looked beautiful, her fish fry was perfectly cooked, crunchy outside nice and flaky inside. But both were pretty much bland, surprisingly. The other 2 Farmer’s are still good with us but will not come back here for dinner.
I think for the price I would go somewhere else. I was not impressed with the food or the drinks.
I now experienced three Founding Farmers locations in the DMV for brunch. All have provided great service and decent food options for brunch. However, by far the Tysons Corner location has the best variety to choose from and more space.
The brisket on the brunch buffet was amazing!! Best we've ever had!
Excellent location with excellent food, and excellent service!
Restaurant was a little noisy for me. I’ll request a booth next time to block out some of the noise. Food was fantastic with good portions. Service was decent but could be better for the restaurant. Will definitely visit again even with the subpar service.
Great good and environment. Only thing I personally didn’t like was how extremely loud it was.
Great service and food! Gets very busy and loud at lunch time.
The restaurant is nice and cozy. The brunch was just okay. The food was not warm or hot. The service was good. The kale salad was yummy, but I will not go back for brunch.
Great service and best dessert value ($2 donut with ice cream is a steal of a lifetime)!
Holy smokes our key lime pie was incredible. Left a lasting impression!
Food, service, and overall quality was excellent! We unfortunately got crammed into a corner table where I was either looking at a server’s station, a wall, or a metal bull statue’s butt. If you can avoid that specific table, the quality and range of food is worth stopping in for!
Hi EverydayDiner: Hooray!! Thank you so much! :) We appreciate it and call us anytime for a reservation needed in the future: 202-298-8783. -Amy
