Farmers Fishers Bakers
The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.
This is one of my favorite lunch spots? I was not disappointed.
Great vibe, great location and the decor is amazing. Not sure what all the fuss is about as food was mediocre, good but not great. Service was good but not great. With so many restaurants in the surrounding area would def try something else before I went back to this one.
Had problems with the bartender and amounts of alcohol poured for the price charged for the drinks. Otherwise, it’s ok. Enjoyed the sister establishment, Farmers & Distillers much, much more.
It was for my birthday and my friends and I had a wonderful time!
It was very noisy! And uncomfortably warm. The food was just mediocre. We were expecting a more healthy menu. Too many fried foods.
Overall, great experience! Food great, service great, and environment great.
Went for Sunday Brunch. The food was excellent. Our server was friendly and made sure we had everything we wanted.
Always a pleasure. Love the broiled grapefruit.
Honestly, I feel like this brunch isn't as good as it once was. To be clear: it's still very good. My criticism includes that the cinnamon rolls are now on the buffet instead of being delivered, piping hot and gooey to your table -- and they just aren't as good. Say no, thank you, to the pizza, but yes, please to the shrimp. And make sure to get a bruleed grapefruit!!! OMG
A little bit pricey
Have eaten here multiple times before, and tonight was a disappointment. We waited about 25 minutes after our reservation time. Service was slow and drinks were forgotten several times. Food was meh. Hopefully this was a one off, but wasn’t thrilled with our experience tonight.
Good fresh food, beautiful views, pretty loud. Good Bloody Marys
If you can’t find something on this fantastic menu you are simply not hungry! Amazing choices and lots of delicious options.
Good brunch buffet food selection but service was terrible. It took us 30 minutes to get water after we sat down and 20 mins at the end for our cards to come back with the check. Don't go if you're in a rush.
This place is simply outstanding, if you are in the D.C area it is a MUST.
Hi AlenaW: WOW! Thank you so much! We appreciate it and hope to have you back soon. -Amy
We had brunch and the food was great and delicious. Unfortunately, we were not able to get a table, however, we had a seat at the bar. There were tables that were empty for at least an hour. I asked the hostess about the empty tables and she said we are expecting people soon. Hold a tables for an hour seems there could be some review of the system for seating. We sat in reserved bar seating for hours and talked and laughed and had great service, food, and drink. Thanks, Farmers, Fishers, and Bakers.
Hi Diana: Thank you for your review, and I am real sorry about the oversight with our table seating. Our Management Team appreciates you letting us know and will be circling back with our host staff that worked during your visit. Of course, we hope to have you back soon and please call us: 202-298-8783 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Great job! Manager and waitress were wonderful. We enjoyed the whole dining experience!!
Hi SusanG: Many thanks for your ALL STAR 5-STAR Review! We really appreciate it and hope to have you back soon!! Please call us: 202-298-8783 for any reservation help needed in the future. -Amy
Great food and great service
Always a good meal and great atmosphere to conduct business!
Hi JoeB: Many thanks for sharing! :) We appreciate it and hope to have you back soon. -Amy
The food is awful!!!!!!! Since this restaurant works with farmers and clean food, we thought we could have a yummy healthy dinner. But instead, this restaurant is typical bad/low quality american food with unnecessary abundant amounts of butter and unnecessary stuff to enhance flavors.
For instance the artichoke deep comes with a lot of canola oil on top. Unnecessary and unhealthy!!!
We were extremely disappointed with the food. The only good thing is the staff, they are very friendly and kind.
Hi VRLN: Thank you for sharing your review with us. I am so so sorry for the disappointment with the preparation of the dishes ordered, and feel badly for the dissatisfying impression this left you with. :( That said, we really hope to have you back for another try (maybe for one of our Meatless Menu options or our MTO sushi rolls!) and please call our team: 202-298-8783 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Excellent service and excellent food, geatbto find restaurants that do both of these things with ease. Reservations was for 8 and @ 7:55 the manager took time to come over and tell us our table was a little delayed and we would be seated right away. We were seated by 8:05. The food was excellent and the service continued at a high level which made this a wonderful dining experience.
Hi JGVNYC: Thank you so much for sharing your EXCELLENT review with us! :D We really appreciate it and hope to have you back soon. Please call our team: 202-298-8783 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
We had a 6:45 pm reservation. Got there at 6:50 because our movie across the street went longer than expected. We were told “the table will be ready in just a minute”. We weren’t seated until 7:15 and that was after I asked about the status. The table at which we were ultimately seated had been empty the whole time we waited. It was not bused for the first10 min but then sat empty.
The food and waiter were fine once we were seated but the welcome was very very poor. I will think twice about going back
Hi DebRutter: Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I am so sorry to read about the delayed start to your visit this time, and feel badly this sadly compromised your overall takeaway from your experience. This said, I would love the chance to follow up and turn this around! I will send you a personal note with my email address to hopefully touch base further. -Amy
We went for a Sunday brunch buffett not realizing it was $32 per person which I think is ridiculous, no matter how good the food is (and it is!) Few people eat $32 worth. Not even my 19 year old college freshman son.
Awesome experience with everything especially our waitstaff.
Great food and fun location
Quite disappointed. This is not my first time in this place. I find the food is saltier than my last visit. Also the fried chicken is no longer what it was. The fried chicken used to have a honey glaze on it. But on Monday, 2/17 it was blah - just salty fried chicken. Not to mention, I had to wait to get fried chicken. The plate of fried chicken was not refilled quick enough.
Overall there are better brunches in DC. My husband wanted to try it so I gave it another try. The food was ok. Not a lot of choices for brunch and very carb heavy. We had asked for a different table and were not accommodated since we were just 2. The booth went unused the entire time we were there. We won’t be back for brunch.
I love coming here for brunch! I do wish that they would keep everything a little more stocked and that the pass arounds would start a little bit earlier, but all in all it's a great place for brunch!
We had a wonderful experience here. We went for a holiday brunch and the food was fantastic! There were so many food options and we could only try a fraction of them. I highly recommend their brunch. We hope to go again for dinner.
It seems like every time I return the quality goes down. The crab dip barely has any crab, you literally have to ask for the food plates that are supposed to be passed around and even then its rare to see a server with a plate, the main dishes are luke warm. Also, they don't offer bottomless mimosas yet they pour the $9 mimosa (which the charge $11) as if you should be happy to pay the price of the bottle they use for only 1/16 of the actual champagne in your glass.
The start to our meal was good enough - tuna tartare & New England clam chowder. Both were fresh and very tasty. The tuna tartare was unevenly drizzled with ponzu so one side was a bit too salty, but otherwise we enjoyed it.
The meal went downhill after that. The entrees were incredibly disappointing. My boyfriend ordered the blackened catfish, which was overly seasoned and super salty. The texture was weird too - crisp on the outside, but undercooked inside.
I had the “jambalaya”... if you can even call it that? There was no Cajun seasoning or any spices in it. The dish was pure rice boiled in seafood broth, then topped with mussels, scallops, shrimp, lettuce, and... radishes? Overall an odd combination (& I was lucky enough to get one spoiled mussel).
I wish I’d told the server we disliked our dishes because the customer service was great and they likely would have gotten us other options.
Oh well... I definitely will not be returning anyway.
The wait time was a little long. They also ran out of appetizer options by 8pm. We really enjoyed the atmosphere.. We will return in hopes of trying those appetizers.. The water was great. Thanks
Poor management, place was overbooked, and didn't get seated for 20 minutes past reservation time. Hostess couldn't even provide the wait time, just tell you to wait. Other patrons arrived after even got seated.
Hi HungryHippo: I am super sorry for the unexpected wait time with your reservation this past weekend. :( Our team feels badly this understandably caused a damper to your overall experience this time, and I would love the chance to hopefully turn this around! That said, I will send you a DM with my email address to continue this conversation. -Amy
We sat at the bar and the service was very subpar in the beginning but after about 15-20 minutes of waiting for menus/drinks we finally got new waitress and she took care of us. The food was great just wish the service was better.
My birthday! Overall, they did provide the level of service we have come to expect. During brunch they typically bring around additional items such as fried shrimp. We saw them offer those items to other tables, but not ours. E left without a single offer outside the buffet. Very disappointing.
We had a 12:30 pm reservation but did not get seated until 1pm. Strike 1. We waited an incredibly long time for our drink orders. Strike 2. The waitress charged our cards incorrect amounts. Strike 3.
Brunch buffet had a great selection of food. Everything was delicious. We were only able to get a reservation at the bar, but it turned out great because it made getting drink orders fast.
I am so sad to see the quality of Farmers, Fishers Bakers’ brunch experience go so significantly down over the years. If you asked me two years ago, I would have said it was my favorite brunch in the city. Our most recent experience there however was unexpectedly poor.
Our server took our beverage menu multiple times even though we kept saying that we wanted it for the cocktail list, and then seemed like he was frustrated with us after that.
We asked for fried shrimp early on and were told “that will be coming around, but if not I will check on it for you”. After about 30 minutes, we asked again and then we were able to get a plate.
Randomly while we were eating, two servers walked by talking to each other, and one of them swore using the “f” word, which didn’t offend me but I felt it was unprofessional.
The buffet itself was actually very messy, which I have never witnessed before. Only about half of the items were actually out, and the rest were waiting to be filled. The meats (pork belly, ham etc) were not cut all the way through but put out on platters, so we had to ask one of the staff to cut them. The eggs were also cold, although I will say I have noticed that consistently since I started coming here several years ago.
All in all, the food quality was poor in comparison to most of the brunch options that are now available in DC, and the service was the poorest I have experienced here thus far. My party and I left our reservation for the first time stating that we truly didn’t have a desire to come back again, which saddens me. Hopefully this was just a random bad experience that will not hold true for others.
This review is just for the Sunday brunch. We have enjoyed the brunch at FFB several times in the past couple of years, and hoped to do so again. However, the experience was definitely less than stellar, and we won't be returning. The buffet no longer offers grilled vegetables, and has fewer options for those who do not eat meat. Hash browns were undercooked. Our server forgot to ask if we were interested in the shrimp and pizza which was being offered - the shrimp were very heavily breadcrumbed, and so tough that they were hard to chew, while the pizza was undercooked and tasteless. After the initial query as to what we would like to drink, to which we responded, "Not right now", we were not offered beverages.
Hi Aniko: Thank you for your review and I am so sorry this brunch visit fell short. :( I am equally let down for the disappointments in the buffet selection and the lacking preparation of some of our items. With this said, I'd love the chance to follow up and hopefully turn around the poor taste we left you with. I will send you a personal note with my email address. -Amy
