The menu has a wonderful variety of dishes. Very fresh and delicious meals with large portions. Very friendly wait staff. This will definitely be added to our list of places to eat when we're in DC. Great discovery.
Back the next morning for their fabulous fresh donuts and fresh squeezed orange juice.
Sediment in water bottles served at table. The chicken fried steak and grilled veggies really salty. Mashed potatoes were a little dry. The big ravioli was great. Ambiance good. People watching from window seat was good.
Normally, I don't write reviews. However my experience today was so uncommonly bad til I had to post. I have been here several times with no complaint. Unfortunately today was the glaring exception for two reasons. 1) I ordered the Fisherman's Fry which came out covered in seasoning salt and rendering it inedible without removing all of the battered coating. Further, the fish was extremely smelly. I really should've sent it back instead of spending money on something I couldn't eat. 2) It was very hard to ignore the disparity in service between our table and another nearby table. The other table was served by TWO waiters who were constantly sent away because of the frequency of their check-ins. On the other hand, we had one waiter who constantly forgot to bring requested items like tartar sauce, dessert menus, etc. Maybe it's time for a break.
It was fine. I took myself to brunch as a reward after a long week of work-related conference classes. The serving staff was attentive and friendly.
Per usual Farmer & Distillers was AMAZING! We enjoyed great food and great service, it’s always a pleasureable experience.
Amazing Brunch .. gives opportunity to tdy entite menu!
I have been to several of the Founding Farmers locations and also Farmers, Fishers and Bakers all of which are excellent restaurants and the reason I wanted to try this newest location. We were treating my mother in law to a belated Mothers Day brunch on a Sunday. The size of the space to get in and out of for the buffet was small, which is manageable. But there were two things that really bothered me....they were not refilling food and there were no passed options. I got in line for a second time and had to ask them for the prime rib - which they had stored underneath and it just needed to be cut. There were several items that were not refilled and I went up a few times. Its not that large of a buffet. Its also advertised that they will be walking around with other food options as well. As we were leaving (around 10:30 am), these started showing up. I went back and looked online and didn't see a specific time - but maybe they don't do it when you are there early? The space for the buffet is crowded and the line goes back next to where people are seated. Our waitress was great, and always refilled coffee and water and they have a nice high chair for my daughter (17 mo) so we could sit in a booth and she was out of the way. Overall I wasn't that impressed for the price point and likely won't be heading back. And the garage was $20 for parking (we were there for a little less than an hour and a half!).
Overall our experience was really great and we will definitely be going back. We really enjoyed the large menu that included numerous vegetarian options, as well as the sizable portions. The restaurant did seem a little over booked, and we had to wait 45 minutes past our reservation time. Our server also seemed a little overwhelmed (She took our drink and appetizer orders and then forgot to come back for entrée orders, but did come to collect our menus), but the food came surprisingly fast, considering how full the restaurant was.
As others have mentioned, even with reservations we waited 15-20 minutes. Try to get a booth because the tables are squeezed on top of each other. Not much room to wait for your table, although there is more room here than at Founding Farmers. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Food is fresh and hot. Menu is eclectic. Reminds me of a New England diner with lots of choices. Beware that entree sides, including the salad option, are very small. The adults in the party enjoyed their food.
We decided to get a cocktail drink for the "group" which serves 2-4 people. When it came in a big bowl with straws, we asked if there was a way to pour it into our individual glasses. We didn't really want to drink from the same bowl. The waitress tried to pour it and I would say a good amount spilled all over the table. She wiped it up and apologized, stating there used to be ladles, but they got rid of them. Not understanding why they did, but we did the best with what was left with our drink.
Then my meal came out and an eyelash was found on it. I showed it to the manager, who apologized, took it and placed a quick order to get a new one. I know this happens, but I thought there would have been some kind of consideration...reduced price or a coupon or something for all the things that happened.
Nope, full price on everything. Not planning a return any time soon.
Half of our items came out wrong or not at all.
Very cramped feel - especially for a buffet.
Brunch buffet is lit. The french toast is absolutely perfect.
Love it! Food is awesome. I love how people walk around to offer more food. The chai tea was bomb! Wonderful waitress and presentation!
What can I say....great ambiance, wonderful menu (working breakfast), superb staff. Great coffee. Fab donuts. Thanks so much for a great experience!
Great atmosphere, a little crowded but worth it. The food and drinks were delicious and worth the price.
The appetizer were wonderful, as was my cocktail. The steak was a miss. Lukewarm, fatty, the sauce missing. When I pointed that out, it was brought cold and salty. I'd would return but order something else.
It was our anniversary dinner. It was very loud!!!
Came mid-afternoon (linner time) and the place was quiet. Although bartender staff was very friendly, they were too concerned with dinner prep, transfer from lunch staff to dinner staff, and personal conversations. Attentiveness to only three people eating/drinking at the bar was non-existent beyond the initial order taking. In fact, I timed how long it took my finished meal and empty plates to be bused. They sat in front of me for 22 minutes before my bartender/waitress asked if I wanted to close out because she was leaving. I did NOT, but asked her to take my empty plates away. Then another bartender/waiter asked if I wanted another glass of wine. I had to flag them down for all prior requests for wine. Nevertheless, the manager walked by me 8 times without saying/doing anything. She looked at me once while punching an employee out of her shift, but all I got was a smile and nothing else. In fact, she’s now walking by me for the 9th time with a new register draw. Maybe she should ask how everything is/was??????!!!! Her staff is a reflection of her to a tee. She should be proud!!! The friendly bartender/waiter inquired as to my choice for desert after another 7 minutes. Maybe they want me out now. Here comes the dinner crowd and they need the seat at the bar. Let me emphasize that, despite being inattentive, the bartenders were still very kind. They’re VERY focused on making unique drinks. Maybe their manager should have them refocus their attention accordingly. Other than the service issue, food was very good. It appears that issues with service plague this restaurant and a sister “Farmers” restaurant where I ate last night (same non-existent service).
Come for the food...... but nothing more.
Loved the atmosphere, our server was extremely knowledgeable, and can't forget the copper pineapple!!
Great food! No kids menu but they have plenty to offer.
Excellent food and service
Good, not great. Flavors are muted. But pasta was cooked al dente, which made up for the lack of zing elsewhere. Homemade bread was bland. Salad was over-dressed.
Our first time at Farmers & Distillers. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals from a diverse menu accented with the local flavors of Chinatown. There was a good vibe and the service was very good. We'll be back when friends are in town.
I had Mother's Day dinner with my stepmother. Her experience was wonderful and the dinner was delicious. The waiter was very attentive and polite. She's telling family and friends great things about the restaurant. And this was my third time at Farmers & Distillers.
Mother's Day was very busy but the service and food was great
Just okay. Food was not as tasty as the buffet last week and we waited 45 minutes for our entrees to come out from the kitchen.
Dying at the hotel for Mother’s Day it was crowded but the staff was friendly Our
waitress was awesome and that would go back again again .
Went there for lunch for Mother's Day! Great service and food was incredible..
Birthday and mothers day brunch
My boyfriend and I came here for Mothers Day brunch and all we can talk about is when are we coming back. Everything was delicious and freshly made. Great variety for the lunch and dinner items offered for brunch!! Service was also great. Can't wait to come back here for brunch and dinner!! Don't forget to taste the donuts!!
The food was absolutely declious. I have been for lunch and brunch. The lunch was a quick bite before heading to a Wizards game and service was quick and easy. Brunch was amazing and could not imagine a better location in DC!
Took my mom here on Mother’s Day for brunch. The food and service was amazing! She was very pleased.
We spent a fantastic Mother’s Day here! The food was excellent, which is hard to do with buffets consistently. The service was great and efficient. We will definitely be back.
Farmers and Distillers has a large, diversified menu and some of the best cocktails I've ever had. I definitely recommend it.
It is not a quiet, cozy, locale though. It's a bustling place with lots of activity.
Give it a shot.
Pre Mother’s Day
Fantastic experience celebrating my graduation! Amazing food, pleasant service, and overall wonderful experience from the time we walking in to the time we walked out. Thank you!
Second trip in two weeks - a great place with an outstanding menu. Excellent staff. My one complaint would be noice level. It is already loud when full and the music played was even louder (unnecessarily so).
We had reservations and were seated immediately. The service was wonderful and the food was great!
