Farmers & Distillers
Great food, sub par service. Not very attentive and took forever for refills
The spring rolls and fried dumplings were absolutely amazing! Great service and menu options.
Always have Blantons
Great food, great service.
We specially booked via the app a table for 19:45 pm!
We came there at 19:40 pm.
A lot of poeple came in and did registration.
They told us to wait at least 15 to 20 minutes.
Conclusion: if you come in during evening you will be registrated. When we come at the same time registration will start.
They will not have priority via booking by your app! Booking has no meaning
Family get together
I dine out frequently and this is the first review i have ever written,. The evening started bad and just got worst. Has a 7:30 reservation and was told there would be a 20 min wait. Not a big deal except that after 30 mins and a recheck at reservation counter was told that whoever said 20 mins made a mistake and the wait would be at least another 30 mins. Ultimately that became about right and we were finally seated in the freezing cold dining room. The waiter came by and took our orders. We ordered 2 apps to be shared by the 4 of us as well as entrees and a few drinks. The drinks came and one of the diners said it was the weirdest and worst whiskey sour she had ever had. Roughly 20 mins later the food came but it was our entrees. When we asked about our appetizers the waiter said "well I put the order in not sure where it went" and off he went. Roughly 5 minutes after the entree were brought another server brought our appetizers which we were told were complimentary. A nice gesture but at that point we had no desire real desire to eat our appetizers except for one fact, the entree portions were so small we were all still hungry so we did. This was my second time dining here and certainly my last.
I loved that the waiter was attentive but not overbearing. We enjoyed our delicious meal for almost three hours and could linger and talk without feeling rushed.
Great food as always! :) The caramel apple pie in particular was amazing! 😋
Benjamin made the evening so much fun, we had wonderful cocktails and the food was delicious.
It was simply too loud to hear our waiter. The food was great and I'd go back during a quieter time of day when the restaurant wasn't full.
It was good food, the service was good as well. It was nothing over and above for DC though.
not for an intimate date. Fun if you are with couple of people. but hard to talk and hear eac other. sitting at bar probably better
Seated quickly. Ordered the crab artichoke appetizer which was yummy. Ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with fries and it went down hill rapidly! Everything was extremely SALTY! I took all the fried coating off the chicken and it was still extremely salty! The French fries were covered in salt as well. Terrible!!!
Wonderfully flavorful food. Go here!
The service was horrible. After we were seated 50 minutes late there was no acknowledgement of the inconvenience of the wait. Our server forgot part of our order and messed up another part and we were celebrating a new job. To end the evening we ordered desserts to go and the desserts were fully thrown in the box without to-go packing. So by the time we walked to the car our sauces and creams were all melted instead of being packed in separate to-go containers. I told the manager how disappointed we were of all that went on but specifically to end the night with our desserts ordered to-go but they were packed as leftovers was insult to injury. He also offered no apology. The food is great but the service has been horrible lately.
Brittany, I am very sorry to read about the terrible experience you had with us. Being seated 50mins late, having an order mishap and then your to-go desserts all mixed together, is all an understandable disappointment. I feel badly this happened and would love to touch base. I will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
Had res. For 7:45, but weren't seating until almost 9 (we had a large group attending a conference, so knew we'd have a hard time going anywhere else without a reservation). Hostesses did apologize for the delay, and eventually had manager kick the party who were at our table out, after they'd been there for over 2 hours. Once we were seated, our waitress didn't really have any sense of urgency that folks who'd been waiting for over an hour might be really hungry. Took our drink orders and was going to leave when I told here we needed to order some appetizers now too. Then took forever to come back and take our dinner orders. Food and drinks were slow to come out, and one person wasn't even told that the restaurant was out of the Robert he ordered until the rest of us had our meals. The manager did offer him anything else on the menu on the house, so he ended up with a great filet and lobster tail, but he had to eat it while the rest of us waited because we'd finished a long time ago. We ended up closing the restaurant, which was definitely not our intention.
Thank you, Sherry for sharing your review with us. I am very sorry to read that we were terribly behind in seating your party, that service was lacking and that one member of your party had an entree that was not available, & not corrected for some time. :( All this is an understandable let down and I would love to touch base about your experience. That said, I will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
Great food, but was seated an hour after reservation. Was ‘told’ I was next to be seated multiple times.
Oh no! I am very sorry this happened, and we appreciate you letting us know! Our Management team will follow up with our Host Staff that worked Monday, and again, thank you for your kind patience this time. Of course, we hope to have you back for another try soon and I will send you a PM to keep in touch. -Amy
I’ve eaten here numerous times (even been here twice in one day) and usually have a great experience. Unfortunately tonight missed the mark. We had 7pm reservations and didn’t get seated until after 8pm. This after repeatedly being told it would be another 15 minutes and having other parties arrive after us and seated before. An hour after our reservation, we were seated but It took another 15 minutes to place our drink an appetizer order. Drinks didn’t come for another 20 minutes and appetizers took 30-40 minutes. We were also told they were out of bread yet tables seated after us were able to order meals with bread. Finally, 2 hours and 15 minutes after our reservation we are finally receiving our entrees.
Will most likely give them another chance because their food is amazing, but tonight absolutely missed the mark.
Amazing food. Roasted Beer Can Chicken is a must. Save room for a donut. Ask for Tonya. She provides rock star service.
Music was a bit too loud but everything was fantastic, as usual
We had a reservation for 7:30 and were not seated until 8:20. When I checked in promptly at 7:30 I was told that it would be a 20-minute wait for our table, but this ended up being a 50-minute wait. We had not eaten almost all day because of my law school graduation. This dinner was supposed to be a celebration of my three years of hard work, but it ended up being fraught with hunger and disappointment for not being seated on time DESPITE having a reservation. Our server was kind enough to give us a complementary bottle of wine for our trouble, but it did not make up for the wait. I will not be recommending Farmers and Distillers to friends if they want to be seated on time or are celebrating a special occasion.
Claire, I am VERY sorry to read about the delay that took place with your reservation. I understand being disappointed, and feel terrible this happened. That said, I would love to touch base and will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
The ambiance is nice. Lighting my be too low in some areas, some patrons hit their heads. The food was good. The fresh donuts were good and fun. The carrot cake was yummy! Service was bad. Wr had to find untencils, cream, napkins and our water was oblivious that we got the items ourselves- I guess...
Thank you, Donna for sharing your review with us. I am so so sorry to read that service was considered bad this time. We appreciate that you let us know and will apply what you shared towards the improvements needed to better the overall quality & attentiveness in service that we aim for. -Amy
Brunch service was awful. Took forever to get drinks and then the order was not complete. Not a great dining experience in general.
We went for brunch. The selection of foods were good but it was hard to find clean plates ( they were put out dirty)and when some foods were empty , they were never refilled.
Wonderful atmosphere- make sure you have reservations as this is a very popular restaurant! Buffet brunch was delicious!!
Went for brunch buffet. Very chaotic, food was cold, overpriced. Buffet was in middle of dining room and was difficult to maneuver. Food brought family style to table was very good.
Waiter barely came to us. The buffet was always empty and usually cold. Normally a lot better
Service was extremely poor 0 our waitress was rude to us and slammed the check on our table without a word. Our appetizers came after our entrees and we waited 30 minutes for drinks (including hot tea).
Farmers & Distillers is an amazing restaurant. They are one of my go to places in DC. Had their Pisco for the first time and it was amazing.
I have been to this restaurant SO many times, and for the most part, it’s always been a great experience(service sometimes is rough but it looks like they got rid of the issues). This time - I was grossed out. I got the beer can chicken and Had a few bites but I cut it and it started bleeding... yes, bleeding! I was so grossed out so I asked our waiter to just send it back (I was nice about it) bc it was raw. The waiter looked at it and questioned me so I pressed on it again and more blood gushed out. He took it back and then About 2 mins later came back WITH THE SAME PIECE and said “our chef said it’s fine to eat it’s just a popped blood vessel” and was about to give it back to me. I was disgusted and I told him I’m not eating that so he offered a new one (in kind of a rude tone) and at that point “popped blood vessel” made me completely lose my appetite. Didn’t take it off the bill or anything - not a mooch but I didn’t eat any of it and it was disgusting. Very rough experience!
Oh no! Ashleigh, I am very sorry to read that the chicken we served you had a blood vessel and what's worst, is that we failed to replace it for you when you returned it. That said, I would love to make this right and will send you a PM with my email address to touch base. -Amy
Good food, pleasant atmosphere, business casual and great service
Farmers and Distillers has a varied selection of food that is good for large groups. Our first waitress was honestly horrible but after shift change we got a great waiter. The food was great. I think I prefer Founding Farmers Foggy Bottom overall but I’m glad I got to try this restaurant.
Food and waitstaff were exceptional—the hostess was downright rude and unprofessional. Soured the whole dining experience right from the beginning. Also—had to wait 25 minutes for a table for one, despite a reservation.
As a DMV local, I’ve been coming to Farmers & Distillers for years. It’s one of my go to spots for out of town guests. The service is always spot on, the food is excellent, and portion sizes can’t be beat.
I can’t tell you what a poor experience this was. We had some of the worst service I’ve had in the past few years - it took us more than 2 hours to get through a regular meal for three people! From getting salt and pepper to getting more water or a box at the end of the meal, everything was impossible to get from the servers. Extremely disappointed.
Oh no, dalton342! I am so so sorry to read that the service was totally off point and considered some of the "worst service" you've encountered. This is such an understandable disappointment and I would love to touch base about what you shared. I will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
Enjoyed a birthday lunch with our work colleague. Big menu and all dishes were reliably good. Donut dessert was a fun way to end the meal. The fried chicken with my Chinese salad was moist yet crisp, and the peanut noodles were fresh. We had a u-shaped table, so we could hear conversation over the loud environment.
Food was delicious, no waiting. Quiet and inviting ambiance.
ERik, thank you for your 5-STAR rating and kind review. :) We hope to have you back soon. -Amy
