Farmers & Distillers
Booth was tight for four adults and our bench was sagging in the middle. Everything else was fine.
We went for an 8p reservation on a Tuesday, arriving at 7:45p to be on time (early). We were informed that our table wasn’t ready so we waited in the lobby until 8:15p to be seated. No biggie for a date, but this was for a work function and created a bit of a let down. Service was slow and drinks to FOREVER. Apps came and were consumed before drinks even arrived. Will try again but concerned with how loud it was in the facility and lack of great service for a work function in the future.
This place was okay and was chosen because it was close by near the convention center. Walking distance. Had the pasta with tomatoes. Too much sauce, but the pasta was deliciously freshly made. This place is not bad and kinda funky for a get together with friends. Nice drinking bar. I’d go again
My favorite DC spot. It never disappoints. Food is outstanding and the atmosphere is fun. It’s loud but you know that going in. Always end with a donut.
Very diverse menu but lots of good choices and the desserts are excellent.
The service was great, however, the food was marginal. My lamb dumplings were lukewarm, the garlic wings were over cooked, my cocktail was extremely bitter and the lamb with noodles lacked flavor. I was extremely disappointed. It’s not the Founding Farmers brand of quality I’m accustomed to.
By the time we got there for Brunch the place was insanely busy. Our server was great and was quick to bring us drinks and any table food that we wanted. They were so busy though that none of the food that was supposed to be passed around, was actually coming around. We did ask for some and our waitress was quick to bring it. The food was decent, but they couldn't fill it fast enough. For the price we paid, it wasn't worth it.
It’s just my favorite brunch spot. The food is incredibly delicious and so many tasty choices. I had friends from out of town and had been bragging about it... so now F&D has about 7 more new fans! We left satisfied and full. 😋
Love love love the food!
Service has gone WAY downhill. It's a real shame too. We barely saw our waitress, and there was never a smile. This was at brunch. She didn't tell us about the items that come around that are not on the buffet so see if there were any we wanted. Two wandered by, but one showed up when we had no plates. Really? Beverages ordered....arrive half way though the mean, and the other near the end. While I love the brunch, it HAS gone WAY downhill. I used to say I would travel from MD where I live into DC just for brunch. Now? No. Enough it enough. This is the third time it has been like this.
Hi BethB: I am very sorry for the poor service encountered with our team this time. :( I feel badly this has been a repeat with your experiences as well, and would love the chance to follow up to hopefully find out more & make this right! I will send you a personal note with my email address. -Amy
Hi KaronO: Many thanks for sharing! We appreciate it! -Amy
Food was great. Everyone was very friendly. Our server was overwhelmed.
An amazing meal and even better dessert! Must have the bacon loli and cornbreads!
Hi Alex: YUM! We couldn't agree more and thank you so much for sharing! :) -Amy
This felt like founding farmers with alcohol. And unfortunately the Asian food was heavy and a bit oily. I would recommend sticking with more classic fare.
The usual great "Founder" stuff, with interesting Asian twists for the Chinatown locale.

Great Brunch buffet, loved the Distillery tour afterwards. Would recommend you have a reservation before showing up on a weekend.

We met at Farmer's and Distillers for dinner on Friday night. We were seated in a nice booth along the window. We were greeted promptly and ordered wine while we waited for one of our party to arrive. We ordered an appetizer while we waited for 3rd person to arrive. Brian was our server and he was very friendly, attentive and never rushed us. As soon as our 3rd person arrived, Brian came over to take his drink and appetizer order. We had Kung pao chicken dumplings, lamb dumplings, pork and shrimp dumplings. All were fantastic. Later we ordered the poached cod dinner, turkey and gravy dinner and the linguine with clams dinner. Everything tasted wonderful! We were very full but ordered a couple of donuts anyway- a creme brulee and a banana foster donut. Delicious! We have dined here many times and love the food and drinks. Noise level can be fairly loud at times, but we already knew that and it didn't bother us. Highly recommend dining here.
Food was served cold and missing key ingredients from salad. Disappointing experience for a dc staple.
Great food and great service. Whether you go for breakfast. lunch, or dinner food is always delicious
This was my fourth visit to this restaurant. I'd go more often, but I no longer live in the DC area so I can go only when in town. I brought my friend/colleague with me this time, and it was her first time at the restaurant. We both agreed that the food was delicious; service was excellent, and the whole experience was incredibly positive-- right down to the tasty doughnuts at the end of the meal.
Hi NYCAlicat: Awww! Thank you so much for your kind personal note and 5-STAR review. We definitely miss having you closer, and already look forward to having you back when next in town! :) -Amy
Great place to dine for brunch. We came at the tail end so food selections were starting to taper off. The passed offerings did not show up. So I will be sure to arrive early next time. They had a nice selection of different items.
Brunch offerings were extensive and our server was attentive.
Hi MonicaS: Many thanks for sharing your 5-STAR review for our weekend buffet brunch! :) We appreciate it and hope to have you back soon. -Amy
Usually Farmers is exceptional. This particular day they only offered an average buffet, with no options to order from any other menu. Of course the buffet was overpriced, as $33/person for a couple small breakfast cakes and eggs is a bit unreasonable.
Food was bland , nothing great. Donuts and Dumplings I would recommend !
We were celebrating my birthday, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place! We all loved the food! My only complaints are that the devil’s food cake with vanilla Ice cream was so-so, and the upholstery needs replacing in the banquette where we were seated. Still, we loved it so much that we’re coming back Thursday!
an hour after arriving we had no food ... when I brought this to the waiters attention he seemed like "so,what did you expect? " when the food arrived my wife's chicken was great ... my crab cake was terrible , especially for the price .. way too much filler ... If I wanted to spend 2 hours eating , it would not be here....
Good was great! Ate there for their brunch. I sampled quite a bit of their food, everything was good! We would definitely be returning and bringing others with me!
The food was tasty but the experience was not great. We called on Friday and asked to increase our party from 6 to 8, after explaining it repeatedly. I am not sure if he could hear me. However, after repeating it 3 times, he said "No, all booked up". Our waiter was slow, seemed distracted and we had to clear our table ourselves 3 times. We ordered 3 orders of pancakes, they put them all on the same plate and did not say they were 3 orders. The pancakes are small and there was only 1 small container of syrup. They also broke the dessert bar down early, before the main brunch buffet. Typically there are passed entrees for brunch, only candied bacon was brought over and it was awful. I ordered the strawberry ginger margarita and it was equally terrible.
