Farmers & Distillers
Food was served cold and missing key ingredients from salad. Disappointing experience for a dc staple.
This was my fourth visit to this restaurant. I'd go more often, but I no longer live in the DC area so I can go only when in town. I brought my friend/colleague with me this time, and it was her first time at the restaurant. We both agreed that the food was delicious; service was excellent, and the whole experience was incredibly positive-- right down to the tasty doughnuts at the end of the meal.
Great place to dine for brunch. We came at the tail end so food selections were starting to taper off. The passed offerings did not show up. So I will be sure to arrive early next time. They had a nice selection of different items.
Brunch offerings were extensive and our server was attentive.
Hi MonicaS: Many thanks for sharing your 5-STAR review for our weekend buffet brunch! :) We appreciate it and hope to have you back soon. -Amy
Usually Farmers is exceptional. This particular day they only offered an average buffet, with no options to order from any other menu. Of course the buffet was overpriced, as $33/person for a couple small breakfast cakes and eggs is a bit unreasonable.
Food was bland , nothing great. Donuts and Dumplings I would recommend !
We were celebrating my birthday, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place! We all loved the food! My only complaints are that the devil’s food cake with vanilla Ice cream was so-so, and the upholstery needs replacing in the banquette where we were seated. Still, we loved it so much that we’re coming back Thursday!
an hour after arriving we had no food ... when I brought this to the waiters attention he seemed like "so,what did you expect? " when the food arrived my wife's chicken was great ... my crab cake was terrible , especially for the price .. way too much filler ... If I wanted to spend 2 hours eating , it would not be here....
Good was great! Ate there for their brunch. I sampled quite a bit of their food, everything was good! We would definitely be returning and bringing others with me!
The food was tasty but the experience was not great. We called on Friday and asked to increase our party from 6 to 8, after explaining it repeatedly. I am not sure if he could hear me. However, after repeating it 3 times, he said "No, all booked up". Our waiter was slow, seemed distracted and we had to clear our table ourselves 3 times. We ordered 3 orders of pancakes, they put them all on the same plate and did not say they were 3 orders. The pancakes are small and there was only 1 small container of syrup. They also broke the dessert bar down early, before the main brunch buffet. Typically there are passed entrees for brunch, only candied bacon was brought over and it was awful. I ordered the strawberry ginger margarita and it was equally terrible.
We waited at least 20 mins for our table and it seemed like that was the plan - many people waiting for “reservations “
Hi KristinM66: Oh no. I am super sorry for the delay that occurred this time, and you are right- when we run behind, it does sadly have a ripple effect & can compromise more than one reservation at a time. :( This said, having a 20min delay is disappointing and I would love the chance to turn around the poor start to your visit this time! I will send you a DM with my email address to continue this conversation. -Amy
They crowded 6 people in a small booth. Waiter switched in the middle of meal. Food was just ok. Founding a Farmers better for dinner.
Not like our previous meals here. Table was available as reserved, great location in a busy restaurant. But the waitress had trouble answering some of our questions about specific menu items and that created disappointment with some of the items we ordered. My food and my wife’s came out at different times...just a disconnected meal. We will come back but a repeat would make it our last visit.
Hi FredH: I am so sorry this experience fell short and sadly, both the food & service missed the mark. :( I would love to follow up to turn this around, and will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
Just a bit crowded post buffet but the food was good and service was great. Definitely a must return. There are other options on the menu I want to try.
My first time at Farmers and Distillers did not disappoint! My friend and I stumbled upon the Saturday brunch buffet and loved it. Typical brunch items and new additions (all with the Farmers touch) meant we did not lack in options or good food. Throw in the Gin Ricky for a cocktail and it was a great lunch!
Hi Holly: Hooray! Many thanks for sharing your wonderful review with us. :) We appreciate it and hope to have you back soon. -Amy
I'm not one to complain but need to share how disappointed this experience was - made reservations on Open Table for my husbands birthday. He was really looking forward to a steak and a sit down lunch.
Waited 10 minutes to sit before it was finally made clear to us that they were only serving a buffet Brunch, this was not explained on the app. This just cost us $166 for a family of 4 (two kids) to serve ourselves and eat at a dirty table, many of the options were not available, not to mention I slipped and fell because the floors were a mess. The waiter never cleared the plates and The lines were over crowed.
To add to the dissatisfaction, I am deathly allergic to meat, we choose this restaurant for the diverse menu and vegan options. I did not expect the buffet which essentially contaminated all of the options.I am already breaking out in rash only 15 minutes later and have taken Benadryl - I would not be surprised if I need to use the epipen today.
Although it was a buffet brunch our assigned waitress was lackluster. She would often disappear for long periods of time and when she did come by no attention was given to the assigned tables. Guest would have to flag her down for service. It took at least 20 mins to get beverage refills.
The brunch buffet is delicious! The service was just as great.
Most of the food was great! The proteins weren’t as tasty but everything else made up for it
It was a great night out. Every food item and the drinks were delicious. Margaritas in the tall glass, great Cava. Perfect Ciopino, fried green tomatos, lobster ravioli and cheesecake It was a very busy night and there was a minor issue with some of the food no longer ss warm as it could be but overall, excellent across the board.
Food was not brought in correct order—salad then cocktails then appetizer. Entrees—grilled cheese and fried rice—were good, not amazing. Salad swimming in dressing. Soups adequate. Very expensive for what we got.
Farmers and Distillers is by far my favorite restaurant in DC! Anytime someone comes to visit I bring them here. The menu has something for everyone and the staff is so nice! 11/10.
Although a bit pricey for what you get, the food was good and the service was friendly. The dining room is very crowded and loud and would not be ideal for a larger party.
Everything was good with the exception of the fried chicken - it was dry and not very flavorful. But seriously everything else was great, that was the lone let down though.
Hi Mackhulk: Thank you for your review and our Culinary Team is real sorry the Fried Chicken fell short this time. :/ We will be looking into this with our staff that prepared our Fried Chicken on 2/14 and again, appreciate you letting us know! We hope to have you back for another try and please call us: 202-464-3001 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Es el mejor lugar para compartir con amigos!
Valentine’s Day Lunch with husband was pleasant.
Great healthy vegetarian options.
It was a great experience! Fantastic concept, hospitable staff, great food and drinks. Definitely recommend if you are in DC.
I generally love this place. This time was just okay. Donuts were cold, hard and not special. Waitress was extremely professional and pleasant! Food was good. Not amazing but good.
Great food, moderate prices, great services and relatively quiet.
