We're from out of town and picked here because of the reviews. Overall this was okay. I ordered a dirty martini and it was pretty good. A little more dirty would have been better. We ordered the crab and artichoke dip appetizer and the bread it came with was delicious. The dip itself didn't tastes thing like crab. Would have been way better with chunks of crab and artichoke. I got the lobster ravioli and the lobster was perfect. The ravioli was falling apart. Needed more/thicker pasta. The sauce was good. The service was okay. The guy was not very engaging and barely gave us the time of day. So over all 3 out of 5 in my opinion.
Meals were delicious!! Make sure to save room for dessert and don’t forget to get a dozen donuts for breakfast the next morning.
Great service and perfect for a friends gathering. The breakfast menu was perfect for a mid-week “brunch” and service was spot-on.
The doughnuts are to die for! If you ever just want a cup of coffee and a doughnut and have the time I would highly encourage this place! Dinner was delicious and the ambience was really cool. Definitely appreciated the blend of History with modern accents.
The service was fantastic! Overall great restaurant
We came here during the winter and had a lovely time. However, there weren't many vegan options when we visited, but they were willing to accommodate. This time, there were a whole host of vegan options on the new menu! I had the cauliflower steak and it was incredible. My boyfriend had the lobster ravioli and raved about it. The entire night was great, and the drinks were stellar. We will absolutely be back!
The kitchen made errors with one of our orders and took so long to even bring it out that the person didnt get to eat because everyone else was finished. They ran out of key vegetable choices and didn't inform the wait staff which delayed prep of another's dish. The waitress, Sydnee was great and so was the manager though.
This was one of the worse meals I have ever had. I ordered a salad for dinner and it was soup salad. It was drenched in salad dressing. I ordered the southern chicken salad and instead of stating on the menu that the chicken would come in whole pieces of chicken instead of what people usual expect which is pieces of chicken. I had to ask for a plate to cut the meat of the bones. I stated my dissatisfaction to the waiter and he said that is how it comes; no desire to fix the situation. The food is very standard. Not worth trying this restaurant. Won't be going back!
Food was great. It was busy and we sat for about 15 minutes until someone asked us if we had been waited on yet.
It was nice just very loud with the kids running around and interrupting people. Tommy drink came super late after my food came which was annoying to say the least but overall I would come back
Great Southern food, good pricing for DC standards and excellent service. Awesome donuts!
Everyone loved the food options and Bailey, our waiter, was customer service perfection.
There was only one complaint from one of our friends who was visiting from London - one (singular) tea bag for the teapot was not enough. But the presentation was great!
Came here for brunch and it was awesome.
I went for a Going Away Event. I am moving to another state and wanted to see childhood friends for the last time and the food was amazing. Loved it.
Great food and atmosphere!!! I had came here for brunch and it was awesome.
Excellent overall but a bit disappointed with no waffles, pancakes, a few other brunch items. Eggs good but a bit. Old sitting out too long. We have been to this brunch several times but found this visit a wee bit below normal quality and selection.
Our server Wendy, was excellent even preparing a less strong pot of coffee for our taste.
I am saddened that my favorite menu dish has been relaxed which was the seafood mascarpone. Please bring that dish back!!!
Farmers and Distillers is one of my favorite restaurants ever. I’m sure to visit each time I come to DC. their crab and artichoke dip is to die for and their grilled cheese burger is the best!
All I can say is, the food was absolutely delicious! The Parmesan Garlic Knots are to die for...OMG! As my entree, I had the Lobster Tail & Ravioli paired with a side salad...superb! We will definitely dine there again next time we are in DC for dinner!
I have been to this restaurant a number of times for lunch and all of the meals have been excellent. My out of town friends read about Founding Farmers on a foodie website. Founding Farmers in DC was booked and I said not to worry Farmers & Distillers is just a great and wonderful as its sister restaurant. My friends were at the DC Convention Center. This restaurant is a short walk from the Convention Center and I found parking on the street at a meter. Our server was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about the menu and all aspects of the restaurant. Everyone who works at Farmers and Distillers is in a good mood.
The brunch buffet is enjoyable, and offers several good choices.
The food was good but nothing was labeled for the buffet and I ended up eating something that I had an allergy to.
Enjoyed the food, the drinks and will be back again
We visited Washington DC as a family for vacation and went to the restaurant twice for dinner - a very eclectic menu with a ton of great choices - the atmosphere was electric and the volume level was high so be prepared - the food was fantastic and the service was outstanding - we did not get an opportunity to go to their brunch, but heard some great things about it - we would definitely go back again!
I was very impressed with the food and service. I will be back again to try some other dishes.
The food and drinks were amazing!!!! Our waitress was also very sweet and answered all the questions we had!
It’s gone downhill and the prices have gone up in the last 15 months. They also changed their pizza style which is disappointing.
Went here for 3 meals while visiting DC! From service to cuisine and all in between....ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!
The menu has changed to be more in line with Founding Farmers, which was a welcome change. We enjoyed chatting with the manager, Melissa!! The sweet potato ravioli was amazing, and the caramelized carrots with it were too die for!! Best of all was the apple pie and donuts...... don't leave this restaurant without a dessert to go at least!!
For me, the food is not consistence. I have ordered the same meal three time and each time it is different. The first time I ordered "Baby Macs, Shake and Fries" it was great. The 2nd time as a To-go order for lunch. The fries were greasy and soggy and the sandwich was serviced on white bread not Broche. The final time, again the burger was served on white bread, not broche, the salad was overdressed and the tomato was over ripe. Finally the shake overflowed the glass, so it was a sticky mess.
My friend's meal included a donut, instead of putting the pastry on a different plate it was placed on top of the mash potatoes. This looked very unappealing.
It was a beautiful restaurant, good atmosphere...but only so so food.
- Good food generally, especially the pasta dishes, dumplings, and burgers.
- Good service
- Friendly staff
- They dropped the best cioppino I ever had (and it was $20!) and replaced it with a spicy fish stew with no crab or clams, and charge $27.50! Not happy!
- Very loud
- Most food is really quite good, but pizza crust is insipid.
- Only two small pieces of fish on fish and chips.
F&D is a great go to for me. Im always raving about it to friends and this was the first time bringing my boyfriend and he really emjoyed it.
Manager did a great job getting us a more suitable table than what was originally offered (tried to squeeze 6 adults, including 3 large men around a table for 4) and checked on us throughout the meal. Wonderful wait staff that answered all questions, and a bar manger that really helped us select wines for the evening, proving tasting pours and feedback on the wine list. Excellent food to boot - we will be back!
Austin was great as the hostess and our waiters (one under training) were also very professional and attentive. Sorry forgot their names. Food was excellent and no complaints. Keep up the good work.
Food was great. Server anticipated our needs, but disappeared when we wanted to pay the bill and both of us wee time constrained.
Amazing desserts, yummy cocktails, great service! My entree (lamb chops) was also good, though I would have liked for it to be bigger.
Excellent menu with options in almost every category of cuisine. Food was excellent, although a bit pricey for what you get. Service was nothing special and there was a lot of confusion when we were being seated, as we had to move tables twice. Overall a good meal. I would definitely return just to try more options on the extensive menu, so much of it looked excellent.
Good food. Server was good at cking for food allergies. But food was a little slow coming out. Donuts are fantastic.
This was my third time and it was great! Our server, I believe her name is Sydney was so kind and made great suggestions as I was so indecisive after viewing the menu.
